All of you competed in the TDV, and won something,many of you the rainbow banner. You did it pretty easily, and then you just, stopped. All of you stopped competing once you gained staff. Was it staff that was the reason? Or is there something else? You all had the spirit like you loved the TDV, but once you became staff, you just fell apart and didn't compete again.

I know others may think of this thread as a stupid question but I have to admit that I think you actually asked a pretty interesting question....

To answer your question, I honestly just have no idea. I just don't feel motivated to try something in the TDV anymore ever since I was tortured at last January and February. I also have a lot of stuff to do for school and things. I just somehow had more free time in the past few months. lol Also, another thing is that I'm afraid to compete because I want to represent the staff well without any risks.

Though, I highly doubt being site staff would be the reason (I don't know about local mod+ though), there are other reasons behind it. Such as being busy or bored of the TDV. tgags123 won the overall blue jersey for a month while he was site staff.

And there it is. The heart breaker. Represent the staff. So it is staff. The fear of being demoted by having fun. Is staff really all that great? You can't seem to be free. You have to do everything right. Have you ever thought the trusted, or even normal member, or even less (negative TP) would ever be better then being staff? You're more free like this. I have no serious obligations. Did site staff take the fun out of playing around?

Barathemos : That is mostly half of the reason why I didn't compete in TdV since October 2013, the other reason is because of things going on in real life as well, with me having a job and all and I got no time to compete, even if I didn't became a Moderator. I don't have the time for it.
But before you say "I had a lot of time in January because I was hosting and in charge of that TdV". That, I didn't really feel like competing.

Being a Moderator + working at my job irl = Got no time to compete in TdV.
By the way, I'll leave this thread open for the others to explain why, but then after that, I'll close it.

Barathemos- Uhh... I didn't mean it like that. Staff are allowed to do whatever they want as long as they break no rules and fulfill their quota. Normally, when you compete in the TDV, there is always a DQ possibility and imagine how humiliating it would be for a new staff member to get himself DQ'd.... Do you understand what I mean?

Yeah, no. If you were to compete and start doing really well, the staff would beat at you. You can't do what you want. At all.
So, no. I don't get what you mean.

Actually.... I don't think anyone would think bad of me if I got DQ'd from a jersey in the TDV (unless if I spammed on purpose or something). I'm probably just too nervous since I'm still sort of a new staff member...

I think you're getting it wrong.

Being staff makes the site even more fun since you have a job to do on the site while you are contributing to it. (Well, depends if you like your role and I love being a game reviewer) And staff does not restrict what you can do on the site.

And staff members aren't really supposed to break rules and stuff, right? The same for everyone else since they'll have consequences for what he/she does. (and sorry for all the sandwich posting here)

Well, I'm pretty sure site staff are allowed to spree in geeo's forum, well, at least in non-posting competition months.... Geeo never mentioned some type of rule that staff can not have fun in his forum..........

That's a good question, Barathemos.  I've nearly always WANTED to compete again, but there are actually MANY reasons I haven't competed again.

The first answer is simply this:  I'm way, way too busy.  I have a super insane principal and this year has been my worst.  She is constantly piling more and more useless work on us, and I've been busier than ever.  It royally, royally sucks.  I don't have time to do much at all, let alone spend tons of time posting around during the TdV.  That's why you hardly see me around any more.  Trust me... come June... I'm going to be  a big poster, and working for vizzed again.  Being a staff member did make it harder to compete, but it wasn't impossible.

Secondly, I felt a little guilty.  The ease with which I write is disheartening for many.  I may have fun if I sweep the jerseys, but everyone else feels they don't have a chance, and then they don't have much competition to enjoy.  I think any time one person easily sweeps everyone away, it just discourages everyone else, and I don't really like that.  (For example, and this is NOT an attack, but zanderlex is currently sweeping everyone in every jersey.  Other forum members then feel its useless to even try, and there's no actual COMPETITION. That's how I felt when I grabbed everything and scored high.)

Thirdly, for several TdV's the spam was just atrocious and obnoxious. I absolutely did not even want to LOOK at all of the spam. From what I've noted though, it has not been bad this time around.  The current staff only gets better with time.

Finally..... I've been going through a lot.... personally and emotionally, which causes me to draw away from interacting with others.  My confidence has also been declining over the year, meaning I feel less sure about posting my opinions on the hot topics I usually enjoy discussing.

Over all though.... being busy is the biggest factor I can't compete. I'd still love to in the summer.

oh, I forgot to state another reason I quit competing.  I get way, way, WAY too many pms. At any given time, I have between 10 and 50 pms.  Trying to keep up with everyone,  AND post... is a bit daunting.  Most pms I get are in -depth conversations and take a while to respond to.

(Just for the record, sandwich posting is still frowned upon, but I should go away from this thread now since I was not summoned in the first post. Just posted here to remind people that the rule about sandwich posting still exists.)
