Well since im not a trusted member anymore...i had to use the basic layout editor to make. Well i cant do nothing about text messing up the image. So i want anyone's opinion on it.

PacmanandMariofan : Thank you so much for the help that you gave me in teaching me how to code a layout. It took me a long time to figure out all the little spacings and such that was preventing my layout from being created, but I got it now. Thank you for the help and guidance!

EideticMemory : Sorry about that, I had no idea where to start looking for that! Thanks for the replacement assist. Happy to have been able to edit one of my other layouts to make it look nicer!

I am just really excited to be making layouts now! It takes some considerable work, but the finished product is definitely worth it!

Hello, I am Zombie and just recently graduated from Newbie to Member.  Now that I am a member, I can make my own basic layouts, but still have some minor details that I would like to fix.  At first, I made an image on photoshop and then transferred it to Vizzed.  After realizing that the basic layout was not spaced uniformly for all 3 portions, I altered my photo to make it look like it fits.  The height seems right to me, but the width is off.


I read something about a 500px by 800px was the limit, but the side borders look like they could be expanded to maybe 1000px.  Is there a new limit, something more than the 800px width or am I just stuck with what I made (as far as the width is concerned)?  I was able to match the background color pretty close to the picture I used and completely omitted the chat box portion I was going to use so the background color didn't make everything look so funky.

Please keep in mind that I am only able to use the basic layout editor.  I do not have access to the advanced version yet.

My main question to you is "What is the pixel width limit of the basic layout?"



My second question is "What do you think of my first layout?"  I am looking for criticism about the editing more than the chosen picture, but welcome all criticisms.

I would like to start making some different layouts but want to work out all the bugs first.

FaithFighter : No problem! Please do a scroll test for your layout since the signature is out of the box. I'm pretty sure you didn't make the layout scroll. If you're going to use such a big size for the font, you should make the text box scroll so it's easier to read and the signature is where it's supposed to be.

PacmanandMariofan : All right, but you shall need to help me on that. Would I type Overflow:scroll?

FaiherFigher: Your layout has scroll just move the words before the divs aka putting the words at the start and then adding the divs and it should fix it.

That's how I've always found it.

After hours of contemplation, coding, and rigorous testing, being able to see the a finished product that *you* made makes it all so worth it.

FaithFighter : your layout isn't very good to be honest. The neon blue is horrible and distracting. A black one would be better.

Welp, It's far from being a great layout, but after all the work I put into it I'm more than happy with the result, it's the first time I make a layout from scratch, as well as using a no-scrolling text box. Took me way more time than I was initially willing to spend in order to finish... But I'm glad I did though, it's surprisingly rewarding.

Hopefully now it will show up properly on all resolutions, I was struggling a bit with that but I'm fairly sure I fixed it.

I'd appreciate any kind of feedback if it's not showing up properly for some reason.

They take more effort, but I love how they turn out.

All right, so I went back and re-coded one of my old layouts. I was wondering what you all thought of it?

It currently has some problems where the text leaks off of your post if your post is long enough.

I'm busy until tonight, so if you can't find a way to fix it by then, I'll go through your code and see what's the matter.

Just letting you know so you don't make posts with it until that's fixed.

It looks very nice though. There's probably just an extra html tag somewhere in there.

EideticMemory : Thanks, I was not even sure that I was going to be able to code the extra in, but I managed to play around with it enough and got what I wanted out of it. Now if I could just figure out how to do borders for the text box...

mvhupsel : Far from being a great layout? You're crazy! That's a really neat one! Excellent quality picture and the text box is really good as well!

This is the first layout I've made in a long time that doesn't have the same coding other than the font and signature.

(edit) I still should edit the width of the text box. So close to being perfect!

FaithFighter : With the test on top, the layout would be better if you were to lower the text size to allow all of the test to be able to fit in one line, not allowing any of it to drop down onto the picture. However, I really like how you made the side of the layout black instead of a neon green and such.

What sort of borders are you looking for?

Almost all revolve around adding some variation of "border: Xpx solid/dotted COLOR;" into your div style="" code.

I like it. I really don't see that many layouts with white backgrounds.

I haven't seen the show (although I've been recommended it several times), but all parts of that layout seem to be working perfectly.
