Ever heard of Google Fiber? They have a couple locations where Google provides fiber optic internet. They have 2 or 3 deals, but the biggest ($70/month) goes up to a gigabit per second! There are 8 gigabits in a gigabyte, so that means that if you're downloading something (and your computer doesn't have too many programs) of a whole gigabyte, it would only take 8 seconds to complete the download. Regular internet speeds would have you wait at least 2 hours.

Anyhow, I was wondering how fast Vizzed's internet is. So post your internet speeds here! Just go to www.speedtest.net and find a server close to you (don't use fiber optic servers, I find they don't work very well). When you're done, click "Share this result" and copy the "IMAGE" version of your speeds. The others don't give as many specifications.

Well, here's my TOTALLY AWESOME INTERNET:

I don't know the exact speed, but my internet is terrible. It takes me up to 6 hours to download some games while other people take less than 1 hour to download the same game. It also takes for ever to load certain pages and my internet is even slower after 10 at night.

Here's the internet we barely pay anything for (I forget how much we pay, but it's nowhere near 70 dollars a month. Ridiculous)



It says we're slower than half the country, but that's fine with me, since I can download pretty much everything, from games to music in minutes, and I can stream Youtube at 1080p without any lag or hiccups generally.

I love it.

legacyme3 : Although internet speed has large influence on how fast you download things, having a fast computer makes your internet a lot faster if you're uploading or downloading. For example, my internet is 60 Mb/s, but it downloads at about 2 Mb/s due to this being a family computer with a billion programs on it (which is really annoying). I'm saying this because you were talking about your computer not having any lag and downloading fast.

It's not that I have a bad computer (it's relatively new, actually), but that I have a lot of programs connecting themselves to the internet.

I should really go through and uninstall most of them. It will significantly speed everything up.

We don't have a good high-end computer or any of those goods.
But at least this is an adequate connection.

GameBoy1023 : You need a computer that doesn't have too many programs if you wish to upload/download files fast. I have extremely fast internet but a filled-up hard drive, so I download very slowly.

I don't know how fast my internet is to be honest. Definitely not as fast as yours but I would say that it's still pretty fast. It doesn't take two hours to download a whole gigabyte but it takes about 20 minutes.

The net infrastructure in the USA is far better than the UK. We paid France for their old cabling when they decided to upgraded their infrastructure, its a joke.
Even comparative to the UK though my net is a joke, mainly because im with cheapo industries.
That test gave me download speeds of 8.27mb/s, typically i download at a peak of 1.1mb/s.

The amount of data on your HDD does not effect your net speeds, neither do programs unless they are communicating outside your pc, I dont know where you got that idea.

thenumberone : Correct, but if you have really old or corrupted files, it really does slow down your downloading. Not your internet speed, but how fast you download files.

It says 29% of Canada is faster than me, but I've found that my Internet is actually quite fast. I can stream 1080p Youtube videos without any hiccups, and pages almost never lag. It's really great.

Heh. I couldn't help laughing when I saw my results...
I find my internet works perfectly fine, as long as I don't use IE. It can stream 1080p just fine and downloads don't take more than a minute or two.
