Hardly any Sonic 3 Hacks

Isn't it kind of weird that there isn't really any Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) hacks of any type? There's tons of Sonic 1 and 2 hacks, but as far as I know. There's only like four "Good" Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) hacks. Is it because no one really likes the game or is it too difficult to hack? I mean I was looking through the files of Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) and it seems like there WAY TOO MANY files for the game compared to Sonic 1 and 2. And, just looking for Sonic's Art is a pain in the rear sometimes.

That may be why. I also dislike sonic's redesign in the game. It's doesn't look that good.

But I think that the real reason is because there is so little existing research regarding hacking the game. Everyone hacks sonic 1 and 2 because there's already a lot of documentation on those two. Besides, everyone just ports what they want from Sonic 3 and knuckles into their Sonic 1 or 2 ROM hack. Honestly though, I would like to see one thing form sonic 3 more often. The shields that give sonic special abilities.
