(The news might be a little late, but it's worth making an article on it, apologies if someone already made of of this and I was too lazy to check =3=) Mega Man has been a ever dying series, which was once proud, strong and endearing. It was the quarter-stone of platforming shooter games and, even though it got repetitive over the years, was still much loved by the ever decreasing fans, slowly whittling away to a handful of those who know what Mega Man was. Those fans were strong, those fans ever waited as the farther of the blue bomber ever cancelled promising new titles for the little robot. It looked as if the fans were more dedicated to keeping Mega Man alive than the creators themselves did.

All Megaman got was a fan made game (still yet to play *) and some air fresheners (http://www.ereleases.com/pr/equipped-mega-man-scent-blasters-83935, The Megas even made their own original song for the advert : D). Although it was generous, it was only really a gift to the fans, and nothing really to spark the life back into the Mega Man fandom. It seems that Mega Man would remain hidden to those that journey to discover a truly great platformer, and praised by the few fans left, lonely, any and all hope to make any real new friends seems to be lost....

UNTIL NOW!

Yes, with the announcement of the new SSB game, Mega Man is confirmed to be a PLAYABLE CHARACTER, along with the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, along side the originals/regulars. This is a huge step from what Mega Man is used to, and will surely spark nostalgia into the hearts of the fans, both veteran and newly kindled. And I'm here just to appreciate what they did right with this, as a dedicated fan of the series.

First off, they paid attention to detail. Sure, this is a main stream game and clearly they want things done right if they want it to sell well, but it is always, and I mean ALWAYS good to pay attention to the detail of the character, and the characters abilities/traits/trademark stuff/etc., which makes everything seem refreshing, and it makes you feel that they aren't just wasting your time with some cheap character ploy. The actual character is IN the game.

This is done the moment Mega Man is shown on screen onwards, with the face he has his hair out first, then his helmet is equipped on his head. Ever since the first game he was shown to have hair, and it's really great to see that this detail has been added. These details have further been introduced, such as the numbering of the robot masters (Gutsman was titled DLN instead of DWN, for example), the jumping and the shooting, and even his death is a huge reference to the deaths in the classic series. Whatever Mega Man got himself into, it's certainly more dedicated work into him than their last two projects combined.

The next thing that caught my eye was two things, the music and cut scenes they used to portray Mega Man with. Right after Donkey Kong smashes the blue bomber into oblivion, a scene plays where he is damaged, and he then selects his weapons. Interesting to note that after each Mega Man game (X series and classic to note), he loses all his powers (as a game balancer, even though it makes little logical sense), but here he seems to have them straight on, and a huge array seem to be available. But first off his picks Metal Blades, one of the strongest and more useful power in the classic series (and if not more overused). As he throws them, played at the perfect time is a rock version of Wily Stage 1-2 of Mega Man II, and my goodness me is this terrifying.

Serious, the metal blades look really heavy and sharp. They could cut a mans head clean off in a single swipe, or if angled in a different way, make the letter "V" out of any character. They hit Mario and it looks like it hits really hard, softened because he loses coins instead of spilling blood (as per Nintendo policy to make things family friendly), and the second one is blocked by Links shield. You can see the sparks fly off it, and the look on Links face (asdfghjkl;dwfwqdsfhty6 link looks so attractive sorry v///v) makes it feel all the more serious and dark. You can just feel the force put into that throw.

You see attack after attack, and the music goes perfectly to the next cut scene, making Mega Man seem almost dark and sinister. I suppose after 10 robotic wars against Dr Wily, that would harden anyone in battle. And this makes it all so much more awesome for the long awaited fans. Sure, the Villager looks terrifying as well, and the Wii Fit Trainer is intimidating, but for the Mega Man fandom, this is something that we've always wanted, yet never really expected nor thought we wanted it. I just hope Mega Man doesn't become over powered and requires skill to use, like the classic series forced me to be.

What are your thoughts on Mega Man? What do you expect and hope? And what do you think of the Yellow Devil near the end?

Thats an amazing article man. I do like that fact that megaman will be in it and I hope it sparks a revival of the Blue Bomber.

I always thought if Megaman was added to the Super Smash Bros. series he would be a Samus clone but from watching the trailor it seems they somehow done it by not making Megaman a Samus clone.

That's nice. From the days of him being in marvel vs capcom games to being in the new Super smash brothers games, mega man might be revived to have his own games again. Who knows, only time will tell.

As for the game, looks like it would be a great game to play no doubt.

Wow I am totally hyped!  I'd been thinking for a while how great it would be to have Mega Man in a Smash Bros. game and here he is!  He seems to control pretty well, too!  Definitely hoping to pick up a copy for 3DS when it hits the market.

It's pretty cool that Mega Man finally gets a Smash Bros matchup, but I kind of wanted the X version a bit more, but hey, I can take the original Mega Man too. He's a smooth character to play.

I've seen the E3 video, and Mega Man looks hideously broken. More specifically, his "attack while running" thing looks broken. Unless it's like fox's laser and doesn't have any knock back, he's going to be more broken than Meta Knight ever was.

Also, they better have Ganondorf in there. Or Demise...

Lagslayer : Indeed, this is something I have been worried about. I'm pretty sure his plasma-blaster would be pretty weak and only deal minute damage, like in the game. However, it looks like it can be charged, and that is bound to issue some knock back...

Still, we can only hope that he isn't broken when the actual game comes out. It would be a shame if one of my favourite characters was shamed and frowned upon because he was insainly overpowered. Something like that could dampen the return of Mega Man, rather than spark it back to life.

I would prefer them actually make a megaman game, like a continuation on the X series or the Zero series or by god something. I'll buy this game because it's super smash brother's not for one new character  but I still will use megaman probably heh

Lagslayer : In one scene you can see him shooting his Mega Buster into the midst of Link and Fox. The shots are obviously hitting, but no reaction is given from either Nintendo character until he slides into them. So it does look like it will damage similarly to Fox's blaster.

To the article's author: I would like to point out that you said Mario got hit by the Metal Blades. This seems to not be the case at all. As the blade is flying towards Mario, he ducks at the last possible moment and barely dodges.

Many people are probably wondering about the breif appearance of Yellow Devil at the end of the trailer. I'm theorizing that the infamous boss is appearing as an assist trophy that hits all but the summoner by breaking up and flying around the arena.

Finally, the blue bomber has returned! I've been waiting for Nintendo to put mega-man In a smash brothers game, (or really any game for that matter) for the longest time. So when I heard he was going to be in super smash brothers U. I instantly went to go and see the trailer. The music matches perfectly and I love the Dr. Wily stage 2 remix they used, and the attention to detail, giving mega-man all of his abilities. Was just simply AMAZING! I can't wait for smash bros. U to come out. It's going to be an amazing experience for everyone.

Upon closer examination, I still can't really tell. One shot his fox and one more hit link. Fox seemed to visibly flinch mid-air and stop his forward momentum, but it might have just been an awkward animation frame. Link seems to have been hit by fox at the same time as the energy blast.

Is there some way to slow the video down?

bossrunner : Then explain the abundence of coins when Mario 'ducked'. It seems odd for something to appear when he is dodging, especially when there is a well known battle mode in the SSB series known as Coin Battle (or match or something), where coins and money drop on every hit done to your opponent. Sound familiar? Yes, exactly as seen in the video. To further top this, Mario looks like he was hit. Just look at that facial expression.

As for the yellow devil, much can be speculated. I can only guess myself that he'll be a boss of some sorts. Only time will tell.
