Hey earthwarrior, do you know if there is any way to edit the final credits of the game? I'm guessing it needs a script editor of some kind, right?

Welp, youd think if the current contest links to this thread that I wouldn't get PMs asking how to make pokemon hacks, but yeah -- maybe they just don't read (although I wonder why they PM me instead of you).

Hey earthwarrior,

This is my first time making a hack so I don't know much about it but I have read your guides and I have a fairly good grasp on the process. I am making a Pokémon FireRed hack and I have successfully edited the title screen as well as the starter Pokémon. I am currently working on the script of choosing the starting Pokémon. I am only editing the current script using PKSV, and it works great for 2 out of the 3 Pokémon, but one is always glitchy. On my first try the text that shows up when you click on the Pokémon only showed the last 3 letters of one of the other starters. I then re-edited the script, but this time no text showed up. I then downloaded a new Rom and tried again with the starters in a different order, and now the text of the first Pokémon shows up only as the last 4 letters of the second starter. When I go back to Advance Map (v.1.92) and open the script it has somehow changed, but the script in PKSV is still in tact. Have you encountered any problems like this, or do you have any troubleshooting advice?

Do you know how to use a tile editor program, such as Nameless Title Map Editor (NTME)? I want to change things like the Pokecenter, but something like this would be necessary. I couldn't find you talking about it in any of your posts yet.

What did you change in the scripts? Just the Pokemon?
You can try to use advance starter if you can't figure it out.

patar4097 : I talked about it in the title screen editing part of the graphics editing I believe.
Editing map tile sets seemed hard for me to explain so I didn't add it to my post. Google how to edit tile sets in Pokemon fire red. You'll need paint and advance map to do this I think.

Earth warrior: I cannot seem to get my Lunar IPS to patch my Pokémon Ruby Hack. Could you have someone send me instructions? If not, that's fine, but if you can that would be great. Thank you.

I'm trying to work on editing tiles using APSE (advance Pokémon sprite editor), but because of some things are set up, it's hard to actually insert the sprites in correctly. Do you know if I could use something like unLZ-.gba instead? Or would that be harder to use?

Diggy1 : Instructions are I the first post. Make sure you are using it on the .gba file and nt the zip. If you still can't get it I don't really know how to help you.
patar4097 : You can use unlz gba. It's easy once you get used to it.

I guess I should have asked this in my last post, but is there a way to save the pictures already on the rom, like the houses, Pokécenters, etc. in a way where it's easier to edit? For instance, when looking at Advanced map, most sprites are together, and it's easy to find the corresponding sprite. When saving the sprites, I would like to be able to keep them arranged just like they were before. Could I do that somehow, so I wouldn't have to use unlz gba?

patar4097 : I think there are some programs that let you do that. If you use unlz gba you have to find the picture where it's not broken up.

patar4097 : Advance map has a way to export the tile sets... once exported you can edit them and import them back into the rom.

I think its the puzzle piece button at the top of AMap. its quite a complicated process but it can be done, ive made quite a few custom tiles (entire tilesets are very hard, but 1 tile is not so bad)
