Im just the typical American who loves Dragonball Z, Super, and Attack on Titan. The only other ones I really love are Akira and Deadman Wonderland. It's fitting the only other Anime I've really got into other than the mainstream ones doesn't get a proper season 2. It's saddening since it was such a brilliant and adult themed one that hooked me in and it just kinda ends. Booo!

There are a lot of popular series I've been recommended but haven't watched yet, my favorites are subject to change, but I'd have to say that the best anime I've seen out of all I've watched was probably Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. I thought it was so good that I almost immediately started the English dub after finishing the sub, and now that I'm almost finished with the dub, I really can't say which I recommend more. They both amazing in their own right.

Very close behind it would probably be Mob Psycho 100. I can't recommend it enough and I *really* hope we get a third season.

It's be really hard for me to pick a third because I've honestly seen more anime I thought was great than I thought was meh. Cowboy Bebop and Castlevania are contenders.

As a guy who is accustomed to western cartoons like Looney Tunes and TMNT 1987, I generally dislike and shun anime altogether. However, the only anime I actually like is Sailor Moon; I watch the DiC dub of the first two seasons, the Viz Media dub of the third season (excluding the freaking horrible 15th episode), and I just didn't bother with the fourth and especially fifth seasons.

The big appeal to me is how much in-common it has with western cartoons; it's generally got an optimistic happy-go-lucky theme like the typical Walt Disney film, and like TMNT 1987, it's fairly in-depth without being too convoluted like other anime.

In general, however, the show is so awesome because the characters are all lovable and well-designed, the plots are interesting and fun, it's traditionally heroic with a happy ending to boot (since it's apparently cool to love edgy crap where villains prosper and/or where it all ends unhappily), it's very happy-go-lucky with an optimistic atmosphere, and I love the girl power and positive feminism the show exudes. It's overall just awesome! It's hard to explain, but Sailor Moon has an appeal to me that no other anime can really obtain at all. Like any good western cartoon, it's fully appropriate (aside from the abysmal 15th episode of S and some mild Shadow the Hedgehog-level swearing in the Viz Media dub) and it's easy to understand the characters and what's going on.

That being said, anime I particularly dislike are Pokémon, Death Note, Powerpuff Girls Z (I hated the original 1998 series as is), Lucky Star (I hate the pedophille jokes. They aren't funny!), and especially Elfen Lied, which is one of the most abysmal works of fiction I've ever heard of. How do people stomach that crap, let alone say it's so great? It's freaking terrible! And how many people have voted that asinine freakfest, anyway? 15+!?

Also, to anyone who voted Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra; you are a damned idiot! They're western cartoons, not authentic anime (despite what they may look). Get your facts straight!

I've been really getting into anime over the act couple months. Last year my list of favorite animes was short because I simply haven't seen that many to begin with. But as of right now my favorites are The Seven Deadly Sins and Fairy Tail.

For both, I really like the story and characters, along with the worldbuilding and comedy.

Dragon ball series for one. Naruto for two. And hikaru no go for three wait what? Yes hikaru no go is decent and I liked it. Stray from the action and violence other animes have and just watch people play a game of Go and see the plot unravel (mostly the reason why I watch it and read the manga) I do recommend it if you want something that isn’t action oriented

Then there’s sailor moon and parasyte but those are just honorable mentions

My favourite anime of all time is Naruto (This includes Naruto Shippuden, but not including Boruto) For starters, the first episode where Naruto is acknowledged by Iruka and displays just how much it means to him, despite Iruka not knowing he was there. Then, right after that,
Spoiler:
pulling out 1,000 shadow clones - which is a high rank forbidden jutsu - and a jutsu that he has shown nothing but inexperience and inability in performing
just shows his massive potential and sets the rest of the series up for you to expect surprises and emotion and extreme displays of power from even the most unlikely people.

Now I'm gonna skip ahead as to not spoil the entire anime, because I could talk about it for ages, but I will bring up a few characters that I think shows how well Kishimoto writes his characters:

Minato Namikaze, the fourth hokage, and
Spoiler:
Naruto's father
is my favourite character. Not much is shown about his time as the fourth Hokage, except in filler episodes which I love watching, because it gives me more of Minato. They also flesh-out what Minato as a Hokage would have been like
Spoiler:
if he didn't die from the nine-tailed fox
furthermore, Minato created an A-rank jutsu in the Rasengan which is based off of the Kyuubi's tailed-beast bomb. He has the highest written exam scores ever and was able to see a jutsu once and immediately know it's fundamental workings and figure out a counter for it. The prime example of this is
Spoiler:
when he saw Obito's Kamui once and immediately countered it and broke Obito's back.

Itachi Uchiha, dubbed "the heir of the Sharingan" by Kakashi Hatake. (The Sharingan being the Doujutsu which is a kekkei genkai or bloodline trait of the Uchiha clan) another character with extreme intelligence and an affinity for Genjutsu which is illusions. His Mangekyou Sharingan - which is an evolved version of the three tomou Sharingan - has the ability of
Spoiler:
Tsukuyomi, which is an extremely powerful genjutsu with the ability to kill in microseconds and Amaterasu, which is an extremely powerful fire jutsu of inextinguishable black flames
Itachi had to make an extreme sacrifice, which we find out in Naruto Shippuden which leads to the viewer suddenly having an extremely different outlook of Itachi, due to him being viewed as a criminal and a dangerous one at that, after the realisation of the truth the viewer is filled with emotions akin to what Sasuke Uchiha (Itachi's brother) must have felt.

Naruto Uzumaki, the main protagonist. We get to watch Naruto grow up and mature right before our eyes. His experiences resonate with the viewer, and me especially, because his entire life is filled with struggles - which we see in the first episode as mentioned above - but we see throughout the anime his overcoming of his original pain and suffering to become one of the greatest anime characters in history - in my totally unbiased opinion. The viewer can connect with Naruto on an emotional level and other characters in the anime are also drawn to him, because he has experienced suffering and pain, but refuses to let it get him down. He gives both the viewer and the characters within the anime hope for the future and a feeling of things not being as bad as you think.

There's also many good story arcs: The Zabuza Arc where we see Naruto's very first A-rank mission and get a real feel for the anime. The War Arc where the entire plot comes together for the finale. This is the ending of Naruto Shippuden and a character - who has been hyped for a long time by this point - is finally revealed in one of the most amazing character reveals ever. The Chunin Exams Naruto finally gets a chance to really shine for the first time in front of the village he's a part of and those who disrespected and hated him.

Honestly, for all of you, if you haven't watched Naruto or Naruto Shippuden, do yourself a favour. Watch it. I'll stop my rant here.

Naruto, my favourite anime series ever and always will be.

I'll revive this thread to give some of my recent favorite.

First would be Asterisk War, which is probably my fav at the moment, just because it's so laid back and doesn't try too hard to push a crazy storyline. Plus Jusis.

Second would probably be DAL, just because it's also pretty light hearted despite.....some of it being ridiculously dark, and the romance is actually quite good (despite being odd).

Third and fourth would be Snow White with the Red Hair and Chivalry of a failed Knight because they're both super chill, romanticized, and not too over the top.

All are good watches, I would also recommend The Wise Man's Grandchild and Guilty Crown (except GC is a little on the dark side...).

I finally had a chance to get into My Hero Academia and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. As recently as the start of December, I had no experience with the anime other than the fact that I wanted to get into it. But fast forward two months to now and not only do I own the first four seasons, but I also have Academia sneakers, the first game for Switch, and some merchandise from the show. So far I'm loving it.

My favorite anime is Naruto. I really enjoyed watching it in high school. The story and the themes deeply resonated with me! And it was one of very few shows I ever binge-watched.

After watching the first English season of Eden's Zero, it's quickly becoming my most favorite anime. Up until now, my most favorite anime was Fairy Tail and not only is Edenz Zero by the same author but it's also very inspired by Fairy Tail so I already had some bias towards it. But then I started liking Edens Zero more than Fairy Tail because it appeared to have a lot more going on with plot and emotion.

You know right now I'm wishing that Cardcaptor Sakura had caught on alot more in North America, I mean maybe it did in the US but in Canada not so much because I actually learned that there was merchandise, all we got up here were the trading cards, oh and the soundtrack album with Froggy Mix (basically it was a disc of songs that were used in the show, which makes sense since we hear Just Around the Corner and You Can Do Anything quite often in the series as a whole)

I mean I get there's hate towards the English dub because they changed alot more in there than well Sailor Moon did (the Outer solar system scouts weren't full time characters they came about during that brief time that mini moon was back in Crystal Tokyo)

Do you know how badly I would have loved to have owned a toy of the sealing wand? it already looks like a toy anyway, and yeah maybe a copy of the clow book? stuffy's of Keroberos are no brainers, (btw my favourite episode of the Star Card era has to be Double Trouble seeing him and Yue stuck in their true forms was humor in it's own right considering Kero's constant tantrums), well I think I have a thread title for my next story time

My favorite anime right now is probably Re;zero it is honestly a great show, while initially, I went in with intentions of hating it because I've been spammed with re;zero videos in my recommended for a while to the point it was kind of annoying me, I was hooked from episode one and have been ever since, I can't wait for the upcoming seasons and for more insane twists and turns. It's at times like this I wish I was good at reading light novels and sticking with them, I think I'd love the one for re;zero but I have a short attention span.

Right now my favorite anime is Re:Zero. When I first started really getting into anime last year, my favorite was Shield Hero while Re:Zero was #2 but this year I realized that the amount of things I collect for Re:Zero should have an impact on what I like because for Shield Hero I only have a keychain and two books. For Re:Zero, I have 4 figures, multiple charms and keychains, and around $400 worth of the video games. So since I invested so much into the series, I decided to give it the edge over Shield Hero.

As for why I like the Re:Zero, I love the characters, and I love how intense the show gets at times, especially during the first handful of episodes of season one.

Attack on Titan is easily my favorite anime. There's so much to get into when you think about analyzing the series. It's hard to put into words the intricacies and care put into the plot while simultaneously being full of shocking reveals and atrocities of man that not simply contrast with real human history of war, but make a grand statement of it in a way I've only really seen Naruto handle, and by that I mean the nature of war and the rights and wrongs of how common people are treated during hard times. It makes you question what evil truly is, and it makes you wonder about the other available options to resolve conflict other than genocide or slavery. Now, from what I know about the manga ending, it runs into some sharp contradiction with these themes as it has a more "authoritarian" endearing ending. If the anime has the old ending, I can imagine it may not hold as much emotional draw and deep thoughts that the show has inspired in me since I started watching. In that case, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure or Cowboy Bebop may become my favorites.

I'll never understand the attack on titan love. The show is just not good and many shows do everything better.

I guess everyone has their own opinions though.

Since my last post in 2021 I have watched a good number of new animes, some of them became fast favorites.

Astra: Lost in Space quickly became a top anime for me. The characters are very likeable and relatable, and the story line is fantastic. Even with those great qualities, the atmosphere is simply one of the best I've seen. I've always been a big fan of space, and the way they told the story with each episode on different planets, all with their own personality, was exceptional.

Another fast favorite of mine was Guilty Crown, which I mentioned previously but I have liked it more and more each time I've seen it. The story is simply phenomenal and, while it can get dark and sad, I always keep watching even though I know what is to come.

And my occasional one piece binge still comes back from time to time, its a very good show but it can just be overwhelming sometimes.

Probably DBZ. Started rewatching it recently out of nostalgia. Was obsessed with it as a kid and now I remember why. Characters are fun, the fights are cool, even if they go on for way too long...

I have a different favorite anime now and it's Welcome to Demon School. I watched the anime in two parts. I watched the first 30ish episodes last year and it quickly became one of my most favorite animes but I took a break for other stuff. I watched the rest this year in October and that was when I pushed it up to number one. I love the story, the humor, the characters, and the art style.

Umm, oh, Pokémon! Pokémon is my favorite anime, (Probably because I've really only seen that one, but who cares?) I watched it all the time when I was like 5+, I have always loved Pokémon.
