~Pikachi~ : I could not agree more. Consoles tend not to be as fragile as people say. If your console breaks, it is usually your own fault. There are cases where it is not, but it is less likely. The only common reason that is not the owners fault is age, which is an inevitable cause for broken consoles. Of course if good care is taken of the console, this will happen less.

No, the Xbox is pretty sturdy, you would really have to put a lot of effort into breaking it. It isn't super flimsy, but sometimes I will say that the Xbox 360 is a little laggy and it does tend to freeze a lot, but I think that is just saving the game. Otherwise as far as breaking it all consoles are made to withstand a minor accidents, and anything else is your fault like tails said. And alsonic, treat video games with care, they aren't made to withstand heavy damage. I have a Nintendo 3ds that works awesome and I enjoy it a lot.

I would say the X-Box. I know a lot of people who have a broken XBox.

Razor-987 : The most common reason for them breaking seems to be a silicon mistake in the internal structure, not physical damage. This has nothing to do with the owner, therefore meaning they can be as careful as they can and it could still break.

I think the xbox is pretty sturdy, mine has never broken on me. But then again, a slight mistake could mess it up. People need to not be careless with there consoles, and take care of them. But yes some are flimsier than others, that doesn't mean break them though.

Razor-987 : I think that people have such a bad impression of 360s because of the red ring of death that plagued so many when they first came out. Yeah, they were super unreliable and flawed in the early years. But those problems have been nearly rooted out. I can almost guarantee that every person who says the 360 is super fragile and die all the time get their reference from having an early model or only know people who bought early models. I bet almost none of them have ever owned the 360 slim. I have one, and never had issues. Every person I know who has one has had no problems with them. Looking into it, the red ring of death is super rare with the Slims, and many reported ones were due to having their console in a poorly ventilated area. So of course they would overheat. Any device nowadays overheat when left on in poorly ventilated areas. 360s just had a bad start, and first impressions are important.

rcarter2 :
I never had the "red ring of death" due to smart shopping practices.
I waited a good six months before buying.

Let the hard-core work out all of the bugs.

Then buy.

Once X-Box turned out a 280-gig model?
I dashed at the chance when my tax return came back.

Getting a job done and getting paid is a top priority to guys like me.
Entertainment?
Comes a very close second. (I'm a work-o-holic. Look it up.)
I favour women in my "down-time".
The Video Games normally only serve as a nice distraction when life decides to throw a few curve balls in my direction. (Just wait it out and see who is left standing.)
Back to the console thing?
I doubt that any are reliable.
Just look at all of the money that has to be spent from the consumer.
Once upon a time??
We only paid $40.00-to-$50.00 Dollars for 30-to-60 hours of game time.
Now??? They expect us to pay $60.00 Dollars for a five to six hour romp.
I say forget that idea and shop smarter and stay cooler and "tuffer" than the average player.
Keep up-to-date.
But to a point.
Stay sharp and stay loose in real life.
Why be a virtual bad-@$$ when you can be an actual Bad-@$$???
(Just saying.)
Much more can be had if you look for "the loop-holes" in life.
Good Luck.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

austipokedude : I've had an XBOX 360 for a total of, like, 3 years and I've had a PSP for about 3 years, and they haven't had bad reliability. In fact, they're pretty good.

The original Nintendo DS (and the DS Lite, I guess) have horrible reliability. I drop my DS 1 foot onto tile - The screen-holder falls off. I spill a tiny bit of water on it - The screen completely dies. And with the DS Lite I used to have, the freaking L button stopped working for no apparent reason.

For me it would be NES and 360. Only reason I think NES was unreliable is because the games and system would get so dusty you would have to blow into the games and system just to get it to work. I do love the NES though and since I use emulators now it's one of my favorite systems. Just like everyone else I chose 360 because I too got the red ring of death and I have never had a game console just die on me before.

I have to say that the 306 has the lowest reliability, mostly because the "Red-Ring of death" and you can't play the 360 for a day without it breaking on you. That is why I much rather have a PS3 than a 360.
