A Race... Against Time.

Good ol' Racing games... Fun and entertaining, who doesn't enjoy them? Racing against another drivers on a course, and trying to place between the top racers is always fun... Believe it or not, these kind of games have been hanging around the Industry for a long time. Want Proof? Well, tell me, do you know about some console that didn't had, at least, one Racing game on it's library? No? Well, there's your proof. Almost every console had at least one game of this genre. Which is very popular. Every famous company has made at least one racing game. Sega is one of these. I know, you're saying "This guy is gonna review a racing game" Well, No. I'm going to review (as the game's designer says) a "driving" game (because the objective isn't racing another cars, is just getting to end of the road before the time expires) ... In this case: Out Run. Which was originally released for the Arcades in 1986, and was ported to the Genesis/Megadrive on 1991. I'm going to review this version today... So, Sit down, and enjoy reading!

Story: There's not a story... And it's not needed anyways... The only thing you must do is drive from a point to another, before the time runs out. Nothing special, as you see. However, they could have given one to the game, anyways. (N/A)

Graphics: Let's see... Graphics here are pretty good, they look pretty close to the ones of the original system... To be honest, these look amazing, considering that this is a port of an Arcade game. The sprites look also similar to the original ones. Having, of course, a few differences in color and size. But, those are barely noticeable though... The only problem is that, when you pass to another stage, the background goes black for a few seconds, and then the background of the current stage appears. This doesn't bother... But it's a problem considering that this didn't happen in the Arcade version. (8/10)

Sound: Sound is pretty similar as well, it has it's differences as well, but still sounds closer to the original... All the songs from the original game (Magical Sound Shower, Passing Breeze, and Splash Wave, plus an extra song for this port named: Step on Beat) are here. Along with the SFX, which can be quite annoying sometimes. Good thing that this doesn't happen with the music. (7/10)

Addictiveness: I can say that this title is quite addictive... But that depends of your likes... If you enjoy racing games. We could say that you'll enjoy this game, no matter how much you have played it. (7/10)

Depth: Time to see what does the game offers... As said before, the objective is get to the finish before the time runs out. This is how you control the car (which is a Ferrari Testarossa, by the way) By pressing "A", you'll break, by pressing "B", you'll accelerate, and by pressing "C", you'll use the car's gear. Easy, right? Well, not at all. You'll need to use those buttons often, specially at the road's curves... Besides trying to get to the finish, you must also avoid the other cars, and the decoration at the sides of the road (if you crash with any of these, you'll lose some valuable time). After a while, a Fork will appear on screen, The left route presents an easier stage, while the right one presents a harder one. Only with some good skills and patience you'll be able to finish the game... Oh, I forgot, you can also pick the music that will play during the game. (Cool, isn't?) (7/10)

Difficulty: It can be quite difficult, specially if you don't have good reflexes. Because you must react at time if you don't want to crash. (8/10)

Final Rating: 8

Pretty good and decent game we've got here... Recommendable if you want to play something, but you don't have many minutes left.
