how do I start a net play

gokh555 : You can start a netplay. but 1st you need the netplay item which is 25,000 Viz if you have that item you can create sessions. But without it you can only join sessions that are not full from the netplay page. if you do have netplay go to a game page like Super mario bros 3 and there should be a link called click here to start a netplay session. after you clicked on that. Choose a server which works best for you. also Netplay sessions need to have a name if you want other players to join them

hey david, I was playing mario kart 64 with crybaby and we were going fine, and then we desynced in the middle of our first race. I know that you have set n64 up so it informs you when you desync, but it was not announced when we were racing. I have experienced desyncs before a race was started for mario kart 64, and those were announced, but the desync notification did not show up during the race.

Im not sure how you set it up, but Im just letting you know.

Someone please help me. I am attempting to play sonic the hedgehog 2 on netplay but I have trouble re-configuring the controls. When I double click on the screen, it automatically configures it incorrectly for me. Can someone tell me how to configure it manually?

I was wondering as a suggestion if it was possible to kick people from a session.

I think it would be a great feature in case a player is being unruly, disrespectful etc. I've asked others about it and a few people already agree to the idea. What do you think David?

imamonster : Hey Imamonster you netplay by buying the Netplay OR Laptop item in the Item Shop, in the Site Store, Then you go to a game that you wanna netplay with someone, if it's a netplayable item then near the bottom of the page it will have a section where you can see the available netplay sessions and be able to create your own. or if you wanna just join Netplay sessions there's a Netplay spot in the Retro Game Room in that first line of links under the RGR logo at the top of the page. and then join. Any questions there might be people in the Netplay lobby that would be willing to answer your questions.

Sorry if this wastes your time Davideo but I was surfing through emulators online and I found an emulator for GBA that says it's able to support multi-player. It's called No$GBA and it's like got a list of things to do to use the multiplayer, I don't understand them but you might. Idk, if the GBA not netplayable because you don't want it to or you don't know an emulator that supports it but I hope this helped.

Davideo7 : Got some stuff to report. I'll try to make it short.

First, It seems that when you reset a SNES netplay session configured to 4 players, the system will go back to detecting it as if it had 2 controllers plugged instead of 4. I tested that with Bomberman games, Peace Keepers and Tiny Toon Adventures - Wacky Sports Challenge. Same results.

Second, as you're probably aware, there are people that abuse Save-states on netplay sessions, sometimes joining just to end up screwing your game up. I've briefly talked with you about the possibility of kick, but it seemed rather complicated and unlikely to happen, so I'd have another suggestion, which is removing Save-States from Netplay System that support in-game saving instead. For example, SNES doesn't have Save State allowed, so that's why I'm bringing that up again. I can see how it would be handful on NES, since it doesn't support In-game saving, but it really doesn't seems worth the hassle to have it on other systems and risk people screwing your sessions and progress up.

I do have another thing I'd like to report, but I'd rather bring it on somewhere else, where it's not open for everyone to see. I'll probably report it on my Staff Thread once I get a reply to it.

1. It doesn't do that for any other netplay system? Weird. That's probably an issues with mednafen which would mean it's not something we have control over.

2. I'll do some tests and see if I can disable the save states in netplay. I eventually plan to add more netplay features such as booting but it'll be a while since it'd be complicating to do.

x janzen x4 : We've attempted to do it but we couldn't get it working. It'll probably be a while before we successfully pull it off, I'm sorry.

mvhupsel : I could probably disable the save state thing but I could see some users wanting it. So maybe what I'll do is figure out a way to make it so that only the netplay creator can use save states. I might be unable to do this without having an update to the plugin and if that's the case, I'll ask Tom about implementing that with the next plugin release (if there's ever another release).
