what stereotypes about Aussies are actually true?

Umm. Not too sure on what stereo types your refering to but ill give it a go.

We DONT wrestle croc's on a daily basis.
We DONT travel in Kangaroos
Our Police Force DONT use Boomerangs as a weapon (they are actually in the process of a weapon ugrade from Revolver styled weapons to the moderm 9mm Semi-Automatic.)

Not sure what other stereotypes people have created on our behalf...

hmmm, are there even a lot of crocs in/around Australia?

(also, what are Tasmanian Devils, because i think Tasmania is an island of the coast)

Ziggy: There are many Croc's in Australia but mostly populate swamp areas, rivers/streams and the general population of them is in the north - North Territory. To be honest, the only time ive ever seen one is at the Zoo.

Tasmanian Devils are in fact an existing species, though near extinction. It is true Australia has a small Island to the south called Tasmania and that is the only place where they can be found in the wild. (Australia is often refered to as Main Land by Tasmanians. They have no ecological structure to support them selves, otherwise they'd become their owns country, maybe? ) Most main land Zoo's have Tasmanian Devils in efforts to re-breed and to prevent from extinction.

What They Look Like

Reading about this creature is something i always found interesting as its a Symbolic Creature to Australia. (With the exception of Loony Tunes 'version' of it :)

I do, we call kangaroo sausages kanga bangers. Freely (not free.. but you know) available in shops. Or if your more adventurous and have a gun licence, you can go get your own roo.

As for gangs, there are the underworld crimes, and then there are street gangs.
All the underworld stuff (and bikies too) dont hurt, or want to hurt us regular people. Bikies/gangsters never kill people who dont deserve it.
As for street gangs, yeh, there everywhere. Mostly there not aussies though. Asians, (some islander people who are tall and really really black).. thats probly it. Other people are usualy off there face on drugs.. thats why theres so many random stabbings here.

What is the difference between American and Australian laws, can you do anything over there than you can't here. How strict are the driving and licensing laws, do you have states or provinces, how come yall are bad at dota?

Ah.. our drinking laws are lower (18), but we have to wait longer to get our licence.
You get your learner permit at 16, but can only drive with a fully licenced (and untill last year.. they now must be sober and awake) passenger.
At 18 you can get your probationary licence (P's), where you can drive on your own.

Different states have different laws on all this stuff, this is just from my (the best) state.

NT - Northen Terratory
ACT - Australian Capital Terratory (place where parlement is, and laws are less slack.. eg.. marujana is more legal, porn is more legal, fireworks are legal).

In South Australia (The REAL Best state) the driving laws are as follows

Age 16: Learners Permit. Driving is allowed as long as a FULLY LICENSED driver is beside the driver. Both must have BAC of 0.0 and the Passenger must be fully awake and alert as if they were the ones driving. Driver may not go higher than 80Km's unless with an authorised driving instructor.

Age 16 1/2: Provisional 1. Solo driving is now permitted, but a plate representing the letter "P" must be displayed on the vehicle at all times. BAC of 0.0 at all times. Has class specific license for Automatic Transmissions cars. *PT1*

Age 18: Provisional 2. Same as Provisional 1, but the display of a "P" plate is no longer permitted. Has class specific license for Automatic Transmission cars. *PT1*

Age 19 1/2: Full License. Permitted to drive with a BAC at or below 0.05. Can passanger for Learner Permit drivers. No transmission restriction. Able to apply for greater licenses such as Heavy/Heavy Rigid.

*PT1* - If license is attained in an Automatic Transmission they are only permitted to ever drive Automatic Tranmissions until they reach full license or re-take their test. Manual Drivers have no restriction and can drive either.

Small factoid:
We have no bill of rights or constitution for the people, so despite what some think, we actually dont have freedom of speech...

like i said before, BAC of 0.0 for everyone but FULL LICENSED and even they only get 0.05

here, you can have .02 until you are 21 (legal drinking age), then depending on the state, it will be .08 or .1 as the legal limit

Ah, at 18 you HAVE to vote. Its optional before that.

Have to be 18 to buy smokes and drinks, but smoking under age is legal. Also, drinking with a guardian (adult?) is legal when your underage. Think its called supervised drinking..

In South Australia (my state):

18, Mandatory Voting. Before 18, no voting.

Smoking and Drinking in SA is restricted to 18 and overs NO MATTER WHAT.

Secondary purchasing (where an adult purchases liquor/snokes for a minor (under 18)) is illegal.
Basically in SA if your under 18, no matter how they are obtained it is illegal to smoke or drink liquor.

Worse than that, anyone who gives minors these products is also violating the law.
And, in my situation, if i sell these products to someone i believe will give them to minors i am also breaking the law.

what if you don't know that the guy will give it to minors, is there still a penalty?

not really, because its not like they can read minds
first the police have to prove that the vendor knew that the buyer was going to give minors the alchohol.
its easy if the minors come into the store and say what to buy, but another thing if the adult just walks in by themselves and buys something then leaves.

how different are the laws from state to state

there are some cases of minor adjustments, and some of major ones.
for example, surrogates and invitro fertalisation are legal in some states but illegal in others.
im sure someone else will put up more examples

ziggy, if you buy for minors and get caught you get in trouble. Not so for the people selling it in that case (I think..)


Marijuana (Dope, weed, green leaf, jamacan puffer, bud) is legal to use, but its illegal to have any things you use to smoke it with. (that changes state to state I think).

Also, some states allow you to grow your own plant, other dont, some allow 2 per person.
