I would say some one with long range attack and close range. For long range i would pick Yuffie. But shes a charecter you have to find and battle then when you beat her you have to talk to her and get her to go with you. For close range I would pick Cid because he is the only good close range besides RedXIII. Thats the team I always used its my favorite.

I used Cloud, Vincent, and Yuffie. Vincent because he amost never misses and that makes him great for the Deathblow materia. His flaw is his terrible limit breaks. Yuffie because she is a ranged fighter who has awesome limit breaks.

I agree with big fat cat. In my opinion its the best team because you can their ultimate weapons the easiest. I'm not so sure about other teams, but it is true in that any character is great as long as they have the right materia and weapons

If you're looking for absolute strongest members it would be Vincent and Barret. Barret with ultimate weapon with 8 mastered Knights of the Round materias on it does overflow damage past 9,999. Vincent with ultimate weapon and have him kill 65,535 enemies in battles will also cause overflow damage. But that would take forever. People keep saying it's based on materia equipped but just play like me and equip only 1 Restore materia on each character and one HP Plus on each character. Also play with any long range fighter and give Cloud the long range materia so everyone can be in the back and take half damage. On a side note, if Vincent does kill 65,535 enemies in battle he can kill the ultimate boss in 1 hit. That's 1 million daage.

I just use Tifa and Cid or Barret to support Cloud. Tifa is pretty good all around I guess and I love using her Limit Breaks. And Cid's a good physical fighter.

I would like to say Aeris but she dies at the end of the first disk. If I had to choose I would stick with Tifa and Vincent, I believe they would be the most useful and they go well with the story too.

I used Barrett and Yuffie and gave Cloud the long range materia and had a back row party that destroyed everything in the game. I had absolutely no problems with anything afterward but it might be because I'm an expert at games lol, my friends even call me the game master. I did beat the Midgar Zolom when I first encountered it at Lv. 15.
