Computer games and software are similar to that, you need a PCID code to play it or activate it which most the time only works once. This wont really affect the gaming industry as much as it will with used game stores. Those places will probably go out of business when used games become become useless and everything is in the form of digital downloads.

I've lost interest in console gaming, last system I owned was a dreamcast and never really felt the need to buy anything beyond that (except for maybe 1 or 2 computer games). $500 systems and $60 per game is just too much who has that kind of money anymore? Not me thats for sure.

As far as the backwards compatibility is concerned, I think that most of the Console companies are gonna start removing that from their consoles. I mean I know I have never used it. If I really want to play an older game that bad, I will just play it off the original system the game is for.

Besides, the Backwards compatibility never worked that well for either the 360 or the PS3

But you wanna know what sucks. They're gonna do this to the PS4 and the Xbox 720. If you buy a used game, you won't get the whole game. You would need to buy the unused game. Which really sucks.

XxJ0K3RxX10 : That is just a speculation rumor. Nobody actually said that officially. Besides, this whole 'PS4 and Xbox 720 being developed already' rumors have been shot down already.

XxJ0K3RxX10 : They only announced possible ideas. The interview I watched with Kevin Butler said that that was not set in stone since another console generation isn't expected for a while. And don't trust GameStop. Last time I listened to them is when they said the Wii 2 rumors back in 2008 (with the wii mote that goes around your whole arm) was true....

It's in production, but so far only ideas of the concepts model.

If the Play Station 4 will be realised, it would cost a lot of money, maybe 500 dollars or 600 dollars, or something like that. Because the Play Station 3 is a very powerful console, but the Play Station 4 would be 3 times more powerful than the Play Station 3. Also Sony is very powerful to make electronics, so the graphics might be very close to real life obviously, and huge things could be done with the Play Station 3. But I would not buy one, I don't like much modern consoles. I hope one thing about this console, I hope it will have a good success.

Well, they've officially announced the PS4. Look it up on YouTube or some other site for full information.

wasn't impressed at all..... and heard hat for new systems you cant play used games and you are required to have online......i think that direction is going to ruin future gaming

~Pikachi~ : Um, Playstation is more than just first person shooters. When you claim that it only had a few games you wanted, did you look at the entire library or just a most popular western games? Do keep in mind that the PS has been, still is, and will always be the home to the best Japanese video games and the rest of the world gets a fair number localized games.

I personally don't care that much about graphics if the story is bad. And I think you've been exposed to too many western games if you think that PS games are all graphics and no story.

And you're sorely incorrect about Sony stealing from other companies. Everything has been done at one time or another and you can't claim that someone stole from someone else if the technology is not patented. Sony did not "take the Wii U gamepad already," Sony was just looking for a way to connect the Vita and PS4.

The Wiimote is not that original since there's been motion gaming since the 80's, just not at the level that it is today.

Also all game trailers feature just cinematics from the game and no actual gameplay and that's not just Playstation games. Also I really don't think
it is legal to claim that something in the "best" of something without it being true. Maybe it was the company that produced the game and not Sony who did that?

I don't think so. They already created 3 of them. It looks pretty crazy and weird. Does anyone here know when the PS4 is going to come out, or how much it costs?

Black Bot : Actually, I'm pretty sure it has been created, it's just that they weren't ready to show the system off. Other than that there has been no actual release date or price tag announced.

Black Bot : Since the console has not yet been released, they're probably still testing it out to make sure that it works properly. And games are definitely still in production, as none of them have been released either. Some games were already announced and are in the works, they do have some videos on the website: PlayStation 4.
