Zelda. Tons of reasons why it's Zelda. I've had more Zelda experience than Final Fantasy.

I love both of these video game series so much but I'd have to choose Zelda. I get more into Zelda games and my favorite game from the series is Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. Such a great game, probably my 2nd favorite game of all time and I would love to see what it'd look like remade with the graphics of today.

I'm a die hard Final Fantasy fan all the way. I think Zelda is also a good series but if FF is in the equation I just cant turn away FF. Also I believe that FF is more diverse in the designs and the different story settings than Zelda. But to cove it I love Zelda but more of a fan of FF sires.

I have actually played and owned all of the FF games up to 13 .... I'm waiting to play 14 so when I do I do

For me it would really depend on which titles we would be talking about, like I love Ocarina of time more then a lot of the Final Fantasy titles, but I love Final Fantasy VII a little more than Ocarina. So for me this is a really hard decision, maybe Zelda because the storyline becomes easier to follow than most Final Fantasy titles (especially VII, was I the only one who was confused the first time playing it?).

It's so hard to say. They're both among my favourite franchises. I will say that Zalda games tend to have more replay value while FF tend to have better plots. Also, I LOVE the work that Yos***aka Amano has done for the character designs in FF.

NotJon : I have to agree with you, I have noticed that a lot Legend of Zelda titles have a really high replay value. And I completely fall deep into the stories of Final Fantasy titles, I really like the story in FFVI that one was interesting. I also think that Majora's Mask had a really interesting story but the three days and the saving kind of got to me because sometimes I would save and it wouldn't work and I always used up my three days thus I have not beaten it yet but I do plan on it.

Hmm, I would have to say Zelda for me. It carries a lot of memories for me, plus it's really fun! I mostly favor it because its what I grew up with.

I am going to have to say Final Fantasy. I could never really get into Zelda, and have not had the time to play the older ones. I have, however, played Final Fantasy XII-2, and loved it, so that pretty much answers that question. I don't know why I can't get into Zelda. I really wish I could. *sigh*

I can honestly say I'm at a 50/50 split on this subject.
Zelda Versus Final Fantasy?
Both Games are after your money now-a-days. Its a question of ... "How much are you willing to part with.??" New System or New Disks? New Controller or New Brain? Either way you have to "Re-Invent The Wheel." I'm older so I get the choice of never having to buy something I don't have the time to even figure out how to play. My Last Zelda was O.O.T. My Last Final Fantasy Was Number Eight. Both were equally frustrating to figure out how to play and equally rewarding for progress made. Though the dent in my wallet was enough to inform me that a new game should be fun from the get-go and be rewarding enough to bring friends to the house. Those games strike up good conversations but leave a person lone. That was it for me on the whole "R.P.G. Band Wagon."
If I made a choice from their first instalments? The choice would be obvious. Zelda wins that round. But the story behind Square and that project is famous. It WAS Squares Final Project. They bounced back and it became the beginning of a franchise that produced Brilliance. Though I must admit I didn't get interested till after I finished my Zelda Games and wanted to read. Number four in the Final Fantasy series had the story I craved as a kid. It taught me that having substance behind characters was sometimes just as important as being a good competitor. It changed my definition of a good game in many ways. Still its a good tale to read and experience.
That is key of any game we still play to this day. And Final Fantasy turned games into a storytelling art form. Something the world really had not anticipated developing. Others like Ninja Gaiden May have Toyed with the Idea, but Final Fantasy Pioneered the Notion. So, It still ties with Zelda on many levels with me. Overall though I reject the current instalments due to "Pay-O-La." and Time Resources. The best way for me to answer the question falls under asking me that question the right way. Witch Franchise would I encourage a non gamer to try and see if they get hooked? I would have to give it to Zelda on that one. I don't encourage the Silly "Wii" Swinging remote, or the freaky dancing from the current Ideas of "controls." But I'd have to say that Zelda is a great game for beginer's and veterans alike. Had Final Fantasy Not Bothered Complicating its battle or stat systems and remained tales that people still had to read without voice actors talking? It may have remained a tie. Particularly with the "Linear World" stuff. No Real Exploration? That can kill a game that has as much to offer as that one does. If they wanted to mess with the battle system they could have included "Robin Hood's" Duel system (Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves for N.E.S. or go full on with Street Fighters elaborate design). Or occasionally toss in a "Beat-Em -Up round" (from random Beat-Em-Ups like "Final Fight.") to avoid the boredom of "random enemy encounters." Just have the player select one character they control and have "bots" takeover the others. Have a few stages that borrow from other games like Metal Gear where sneaking around is needed.
I'm Getting off topic. (And My goodness is this post big. .. Wow.)
Um.. Zelda Wins.

Zelda, easy. Not that I haven't enjoyed what FF exposure I've had, I just felt that some Zelda games were epic (though WW was a fail). In all fairness though, I have only played the first two FF games.

Final Fantasy all the way for me.
Dont get me wrong I love Zelda games, but to me FF has harder enemies to fight.
I can breeze through a good Zelda game (If I keep at it non stop) in a week.
A Final Fantasy game tho, if I played that every day it would take me at least 2 weeks (Unless it was ridiculously short like FF XII) which I beat in a week.
