Well I think she should contact the concerned authority (maybe bus department for lost things/money) or another better secured way..because the person could surely contact the bus authority....because this is a huge amount. Morally we should return it .... because you never know maybe that person needed that money really(you don't really know for what purpose)...for medical problems or some kind of emergency..or maybe could it be his salary or whatever....It is very bad to take things that are not yours(directly/indirectly/under any excuses)...today you take a small amount tomorrow you will grow to take other valuable possessions...(slowly you become indirectly like that)

We are social beings and have a society so lets behave as a responsible citizen...and not to find excuses to take lost money..if each and everyone starts to do like this imagine our society...

Now people would blame the person who lost the money..but who are the people who never make errors/mistakes..you never know in what phase/problem this person is passing through..and the difficulty he's gone through to acquire it.. a true citizen should always do things which are ethically right/correct...[To take undue advantage is bad]

From my own personal experience....I got about 3,000 bucks on a road but I did return it...by waiting there and he cage and I cross examined him ..then handed his money..

People would return me extra money when I buy something but I would re-return it back....

Sometimes I would buy a mobile credit card worth for 50 bucks...but they would give me one for 500 bucks together with it (extra slim card..they did not notice) then I remember I returned it..HONESTY is something....

I'm careful with my money.  I always keep it in my locked pocketbook.  One time my dad said it would be safer to put it in a wallet and in my pocket.  I did that and on that day it fell out of my pocket on the bus and I realized it wasn't in my pocket once I stepped off the bus and I quickly flagged the bus down at the end of the road but by that time the wallet was gone and no one not even the bus driver would admit to stealing it.  So I had to cancel my credit card, social security card, drivers licence, and I lost $200 and a flash drive as well.  The $200 was for my college that I was paying for.  I was quick at cancelling my cards and from this point on I only use my pocketbook.  Never lost any valuables since.

In all honesty I have kept any $20 bills when I see it in the parking lot.  Though if I see a person drop the money I return it to them.  One time I returned someone's $50 and in return they gave me $100!  That was double the amount I returned.  Another time I told someone they dropped an big wad of money and that Christmas they came to my work and gave me a winter coat!!

Now this situation is hard that the person didn't see who dropped this money.  I hate to say it but I think the bus driver will just keep the money to him/herself and people rarely go to the police now to find lost cash.  They usually think the person has kept the money.  Now I won't suggest spending this money look in the paper adds and see if anyone is asked for their money back.  If there is a report in the paper go and give it back, keep the money for a month and if  no report of lost money is going around then you could spend it.

I'd personally keep it.  To have that much money in your wallet or whatever at one point is kinda stupid.. But then to lose it as well on a local bus is also pretty reckless.

I mean if i ever find an amount of money like that i wouldn't hand it into the authorities. I know it's selfish and not the "right" thing to do. But that amount of money could help me not to have to worry about my accommodation. And other basic needs.

I mean I've done charity work for roughly 4-5 years... Has anyone actually noticed this and thought, this person is helping the community... I personally doubt it. And with my epilepsy and all it's impossible for me to find a job..

Anyways like the saying goes "finders keepers, losers weepers"
