Hi all, I've been trawling you tube for indie bands I used to listen to in my teens and I'd forgotten how good some of them were. Can you remember Gene, Suede, Echobelly, The Bluetones?

What I'd like to know is: What bands did you listen to in the 90's?

Did it just happen or was it designed.

I was a little kid in the 90's, so I guess Backstreet Boys. One of their songs will forever haunt my mind for no good reason, and I hate that... I don't know what I did with the tape, luckily. I don't hate them, just would rather not be haunted by their music. I probably was listening to crappy kids music tapes, most likely, though.

The 90s was a decade of big shifts in my musical tastes and experiences. I listened to mostly oldies and classic rock until 1995. Then I listed to rap, hip hop, and r&b (shocking, right?), then "easy listening" and instrumental jazz (starting in '96), then mainstream pop ('97), then metal and hard rock ('98). I started the decade with Bad Moon Rising by Credence Clearwater Revival as my favorite song, and ended it with Marilyn Manson's "Coma White".

I was just a little kid in the 90s and I hadn't really developed my own music taste yet. So a lot of the music I listened to was whatever my parents liked - Styx, Rush, the Beatles, Pink Floyd. That's probably why I know 60s, 70s and 80s music so well. >.> I still listen to those bands sometimes to this day... <.<

Anyway, I never really bought into the boy band phase, although I occasionally would listen to the Backstreet Boys or N'Sync. I was never a huge fan, but they were alright, I guess. =|

I didn't start really getting into music until I was a teenager, though.

The Boy Bands, Green Day, Simple Plan, Blink 182, and other punk/rock/alternative bands that were popular then. also some Rap though can't think of anyone specifically. Also can't forget the Euro music hits by ATC, and Eiffel 65; as well as Christina aguilera & Britney Spears. guilty lol
