The Bible says you cant eat pork, yet everyday millions of Christians consume pork and pork by-products. My question is why do Christians eat pork, even when it is prohibited.

Because they are not considered unclean anymore. Those laws were under the Old Covenant and were declared unclean because pagans tribes and countries around that time were eating those foods. The Old Covenant was to distinguish Israel from the pagan world. When Jesus came, he declared in Mark 7 that all foods are clean in a confrontation towards the Teachers of the Law who follow traditions more than God. They were talking about what defiles the body, and Jesus proclaims that it is not what goes into the stomach that defiles the person, but what comes out of the body.

Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”

After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” (Mark 7:14-23)

Under the New Covenant, the food laws don't apply to us anymore. This applies to all the culture laws, civil laws and the priestly laws in the Old Testament. That is why we don't need to do animal sacrifices. They are all no more because Christ Followers are under the New Covenant.

play4fun : I have heard many argue over the New Covenant. Some said it was OK to eat, yet others still argued it was forbidden. I'm not knowledgeable with the New Testament, so you helped me tremendously.

Oraeus : If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by people arguing over the New Covenant and what specific groups do you say that argue for and argue against?

play4fun : Mainly acquaintances Ive had. Had a Preacher tell me that Pork was bad, as stated in the Old Testament, while another has told me that the New Covenant changed all laws set by the Old Testament, including the view on homosexuality. Ive heard many different people tell me their interpretations, so I was uncertain of what to think.

Oraeus : wooooow......both of them are wrong in this case. Do they not teach this in seminary?? The first guy forgets that it was Jesus himself who made the declaration. God reaffirmed that view through a vision to Peter and said "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean." (Acts 10:15). While the second guy is wrong because the New Covenant does not change the laws of the Old Testament, but that the civil, cultural, and priestly laws do not apply to us today. However the MORAL LAW still stands because they define what is right and wrong. Jesus took a step further and applied the Moral law to not just actions, but also your thoughts, defining hatred to be murder and lust as adultery. He didn't change the law, but He elevated the moral law to show that God's Holiness and standard is much higher than what you can see. In terms of homosexuality, God made it clear that it was detestable to Him in Leviticus, and God does not change. That is why it is reaffirmed in the New Testament that homosexuals would not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9).
