I have seen this product in many organic health food shops, I mainly did not buy it as there seemed to be quite a few on the shelves and looked like they had been there a while.

So I decided to do some research and found out that far from beinga safe and organic alternative to soya sauce and salt it is not that good for you?

I am confused as I thought if it is organic it must be safe and that anything that is an alternative to soy must be okay, but now I am not so sure.

Do you use this product, is it any good?

The article is correct- It's popular in vegetarian and vegan cooking to "brown" sauces, add flavor to dressings, and add a salty flavor to stir fry or tofu similar to soy sauce.

If it's high in salt or whatever I don't really care. It is quite "safe" from my experience, it is not used in large amounts very often. Maybe a teaspoon here or there. I don't think it would have any serious negative effects.

Personally I enjoy it for it's flavor and the fact that it is organic, I don't really consume it for it's health benefits - I get enough amino acids and protein from my diet as is.

I also enjoy Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar.
