I am a firm believer that it is real and I base this on my own ability to use it as well as the ability of a few friends - one of which is a professional Reiki healer and has treated me the very few rare times I've been sick.

A lot of people who believe it, usually younger people who have no concept of reality, like to ask about throwing qi balls "like in Naruto." I would like to say that this, in my mind is pretty goofy and childish. However, creating and throwing a qi ball doesn't seem that farfetched to me, only the notion of making one dense enough to become brightly visible, and dense enough to do that type of insane damage.

I do know that Reiki healers refer to qi balls when healing specific body parts rather than overall healing. However, I'm willing to admit that this could just be their own turn-of-phrase or slang.

cob : ah thank you that helps explain a lot. I guess it might be possible, but maybe it isn't in the form of a ball. Maybe it could be like whenever a mom yells at a child. The force she is using usually makes children scared, but if they were yelled at for the same thing by someone else, they might not be as scared. So, basically I think that it's more of things like that than throwing a ball. Just my opinion.

oyaman : Its possible. The thing is its metaphysics. Your visualization has a large impact on what happens. So your example may be valid.

because:
As far as i know, qi is a force that allows the body to overcome its physical limits.
so it´s not like a formable,attacking,gravity-ignoring mass that u can throw aroundxD

I believe Qi to be the exact same thing as life force, prahna, spirit, energy, universal consciousness, magic, and every other word that every culture or religion has some descriptive word and idea for. I believe there is a universal energy or consciousness or life force running through all things, that all things possess, and that all these words are just different words for the same thing. I don't think this energy can actively work upon the physical plane like we do with our bodies, so no fireballs or anything like that, but it can work to heal and such through the power of suggestion and through telling our bodies where we want it's full attention and then it will work harder to heal that malady.

I think it works on the physical plane to a degree. I feel like that type of energy or life force works on the metaphysical level. Like you said, the power of suggestion, and also, the power of visualization and focus. Essentially, thought can directly influence the force we are speaking of. It's interesting to think about and through my own practice and studies, I think it can have a physical effect on the world to some degree.

BTowns did a pretty good job of saying what I was going to say, though I also agree that it can work a bit more on the physical plane. I practice spellcraft, and to me qi is energy that I use to work magick. I mostly focus on healing and protective wards, but as a more foolish child I did use it to curse a few people... I learned that lesson. I feel that when used in healing, the energy is the most powerful because you have the most direct control over it.

Elara : My best friend does too, but she's uninitiated and only started less than a year ago. So far, I've noticed it to be able to have emotional influence and give comfort, but as she hasn't been doing it very long and hasn't done so much with it (to my knowledge) I haven't had much experience with it working like that. I could accept it having a more physical influence, I've just had no experience with that as of yet.

Is your friend a solitary or seeking a group? I noticed that while being a solitary is fine (I'm a self-initiated solitary) it always helps to have more experienced people guiding you so that you can learn more and do it faster.

Elara : She's a solitary, not really seeking a group, but she watches a lot of youtube videos from channels like charmingpixiflora and tiptoechick. She follows her own path, mostly, and doesn't seem to relate to many of the groups she's seen or heard of so far.

Yeah, that is kinda what I did... though I relied more on books and one decent teacher that I have lost contact with. More power to her!

Elara : Bryce is talking about me (in case you haven't guessed). I just ordered several books from a few (apparently?) reputable authors, Silver RavenWolf and Scott Cunningham. I am also in contact with a teacher that I could turn to if I have any questions are bothering me, but for the most part I just do my research and practice what feels right to me. Working with a coven doesn't interest me much, but if I was invited to a Sabbat celebration I would probably consider going. Solitary seems a lot more personal and more deeply spiritual to me, but I won't knock working with a coven until I try it.

Ah, I see. Honestly, I greatly respect Cunningham's work, but I have never liked Silver Ravenwolf... I think it is her writing style... it feels like she dumbs it down. I also like the works of Gerina Dunwich (Wicca Craft was actually the first book to introduce me to Wicca) and Raven Grimmasi (I own Wiccan Magick).
