So, I'm considering leaving either staff or the board. I'm not really sure which. I feel like I've gone stagnant around here. I'm so much older than the average person and I don't want to talk about most of the things that other people talk about.

When I try to have serious discussions with other people I get idiotic posts from other people who have nothing serious to add but think they can post in a serious topic with a stupid comment/idea.

I also feel like most of the other conversations that are going on are about things I'm not interested in.

And being staff is getting old. I'm tired of dealing with stupid chat abusers or people who spam threads or posts. It's old. It's not fun anymore. It feels like Vizzed is a job now that I have to come deal with but I'm not getting anything out of it anymore...

I doubt I'll leave for good, but I also don't think I'll post nearly as much as I used to. But now that I've said that I'll probably get demoted and then start posting like crazy again. Who knows.


I'm not sure what the point of this thread is. I'm sure a bunch of people will try to convince me to not go and so on.... but I feel like it might be time.

Dude, you can't just leave staff like that. I can understand how you get tired of people who make stupid posts just for fun, but you should just ignore them, like I do

You have been staff for a long time, and I can see how it's kinda losing it's charm, but it's still awesome to have you as a big bad global mod.

Eh, Vizzed will definably not be the same without you fathering us, teaching us, or managing us, but I agree that people need to go away, as sites get older and older, and more popular and more popular, it gets out of control and being staff at a big site can get extremely tiring,, because there's a ton more people, so that means a ton more stupid people.


At your age, you're still extremely young, compared to a lot of people. And you should experience life more than just being stimulated by posting all the time. You'll get by.

I'm neutral with this, because you made almost 10,000 posts this year, you need a long break, but you've become so much of an online father, teacher, and good friend, that it would be pretty hard for us to say goodbye.

After the big fight, I didn't expect you or JigSaw to stay long, but you pulled through for so long, and so did he, you could stay if you want, it's totally up to you, because we don't control you, this is the internet, and you lead your real life.

I'll have a serious discussion with you. Will that help? This place wouldn't be the same without you man. But if it really doesn't feel right for you, then you must do what feels best for you. You are right though, there are plenty of people who are like that. However, there are some good, intelligent, and conscious people on here as well. You just have to look a little bit. It can be frustrating, for me as well. I feel some disgust too after seeing some of the posts after mine. However, there are people like that everywhere. It's best to just not give them the time of day. I'd say give yourself a time frame. After that time is up, make a decision.

Please don't go. Vizzed will be so different without you. I suppose you should be given a break but PLEASE don't leave forever. I know I'm speaking for everyone when I say that you are an amazing person and Vizzed would be so different without you. You are like our Vizzed Father and many of us would be hurt if you left us. My message overall, please don't leave.

Hey, if you want to get some time away from this place, do what you want to do.
However I don't think you have to completely "leave" - you just don't have to feel like you have to be on 24/7. Just for your own sake, don't delete you account or anything... There may be a time when you feel like coming back and seeing what's up.

Eh, its always nice to see your threads and posts around here, smart and to the point.
But do whatever you head tells you, staying here at all is better than just outright leaving.

Well, can't really blame you, geeo. As others have said, you have been here for a very long time and made quite the number of posts. It does get boring after a while. I know how you feel- I've been going to message boards for around 9 years. Sometimes you just don't feel like posting anymore. At least for a while. As far as being a mod goes it is job. That's it. There's really not much else to it. You volunteer your time to help make a website stable and it requires a decent job to accomplish that. Like with any other job, people get tired of it after a while.

Really, no one's going to blame you for leaving. You've done a great job here as staff. It could just be that you need some time off from staff, to come here as a regular member and post without having to worry about fixing mistakes of other members. That's one of the reasons I go to another board, LS2.com. I can go and post freely. It's a mature board, without all the categories and rules that have here. Everybody is cool there (but any board will have the occasional 'dumbass' �_� ). So maybe you just need a place like that, too. Or maybe you feel you need to get a way from message boards all together.

Either way, it sounds like you just need time off. I don't want to sound like I'm trying to drive you off, but you can go do something else in life, you know. Take up a hobby or search for other things on the internet (there is A LOT). I can already assume you won't leave Vizzed for good. Not if it has any meaning to you. But do what you feel you should. I know one day far off I'll be making a thread like this one, but it probably won't be for a very long time.

I can't really see how the board will really "change" without you, I never notice something you do that will make the board different without it (we got other global to do the modding ..) other then the "ask anything thread" and you "popularizing" some stuff.

Giving up global is a very manly thing to do though... as it is VERY VERY hard to get that ranking until a global gives up/dies/become inactive due to something.

Good luck though, if you want to leave then do so, as long as it makes you feel happy...

I can suggest something you could do to make your time on Vizzed worth while...make stories in the "art" forum.

Or you can make signatures for people, all you need is MS paint, but quite a lot of colour skill though to make a good signature.

I can see that doing the same things every day is boring and you are a celebrity, so people admire you soooooo much you get tired of it... and you are so famous spammers pick on you...

I hope you get successful in real life and get a job, being on Vizzed everyday is not helping you be successful so maybe this has a positive side.

Well, I don't see why this would be a bad decision.

Around your age is when most people leave behind the old, young life, and move into more of a professional. You're an adult; and you slave more hours here then I do. And I spend a lot of time on here.

I do see what you're saying. In the short three monthes I've been here Vizzed HAS taken a turn. Everyday there's some idiot spamming and flaming in the chatroom, everyday there's dupe upon dupe. It must get tiring; I mean my RGR role is tiring, and I haven't even been doing it as regularly as I should have...

However, this may just be fatigue. You've visited here pretty much daily since I've ever signed up; you could just be tired of posting here so much. I say stop posting and modding for a few days, then come back and see how you feel. That's what I would do anyways.

Well, if you do decide to leave, and I don't ever talk to you again, I just wanna say that you've been a good mod, and although we haven't had a lot of time to "bond", you should know that I will remember you as long as I'm Vizzed. As well everybody else.

the_casualty : But look at the bright side, Vizzed is popular enough to even HAVE spammers, most boards try to get 700 or so people a day visting, but Vizzed has it, and with a lot of people comes a lot of spamming.

Be GLaD it is not as bad as Youtube, you can be an obvious troll and still get 10 + people fooled.

As much as this board as grown since I've been here I agree that the discussion has really took a different turn from back in the day. Lot more kids here now and the threads themselves have become repetitive and uninteresting especially if your not into games or talking about the stuff they talk about.

I think you have been doing it for so long that your now bored of it and what makes it feel like a job is the fact that all the topics are uninteresting to you along with the spammers. That is completely understandable. Plus you pretty much done all you could on here, you broke record posts, you have the most popular threads, you won a crap load of awards... what else is left to do really? Once you break all the goals you wanted to accomplish and theres not much left to do it just feels like a different place altogether and makes it not fun anymore.

There is nothing wrong with that and begging you to stay would be wrong. I am also reducing my schedule as well as I have things to attend to in life. Given your situation I would definitely break you have been doing this for way too long, staying wont really make a difference it all depends on how you feel about it and if you really want to be here or not that is what counts.

I wouldn't stay because people tell you to, your at a point in life where you need to do whats best for you and what makes you happy. You got a family to attend to you could perhaps spend more time with them or find something to do that interest you.

I say go with your gut, break for a bit and do what you want. Things happen for a reason and the reasons you gave of breaking or quitting are all understandable and nothing can really change that unless you got something in mind?

Not that I want to see you leave or whatever, just do what you think makes you happy. And you are always welcome here back to your position I presume if you ever want it back.

Pretty much sums it up for me. The last thing I had left to accomplish really was top post count, but in the end that's really David's spot.

I doubt I'll ever completely leave. Vizzed has been too much a part of my life for me to leave completely. Plus I need to keep my ask anything thread going .

I think I know what I'm going to do. Just need to clarify a few things before I do it.

This may be late old friend, but I feel like I should put some input in.

You have become one of the few people on this board who have actually helped me become a better user on the board. You have helped teach me a ton, especially about being a staff member.

That said, you do make very good points, maybe it is time to take a break. Maybe you should consider leaving staff, maybe that will help you enjoy the site more. You do a lot of work for the site, and that is really admirable. Honestly, you are one of the few people on this board that I know, that can actually answer any of the questions I ask.

I hope you don't leave Vizzed if you DO leave staff, because by losing you, Vizzed loses one of the best users, and THE best poster it has ever had. 10,000 posts in the past year... yikes. For me to do that, I need to have like 1000 post months every month, with only 2 or 3 break periods for lesser amounts. I couldn't possibly do that, and I'm always online.

I personally think you are just tired and do need a break. After a while, maybe you decide to come back. That would be great. Although, if you choose to leave, I don't think I will be heartbroken, after all, it is YOUR life, and not mine. I'd prefer to see you stay, but we all have lives (Lord knows, I will leave this site one day myself).

It would be sad to lose an active member, and staff member but I can't say that I blame you too much. Once something that used to be fun, starts feeling like a job, or chore it's usually time to move on.

I know what you mean...I only joined Vizzed because where I live in retro games are mainly appreciated by older people, who had played them when they were kids. The younger (20 and down) are more keen on newer consoles, so in forums like Vizzed members tend to be 25 years old and up. I thought it would be the same here. Sometimes I feel weird being here and I also had already thought on leaving...If I had took a look at the memberlist I certainly wouldn't had joined. I'm always trying to policy my sayings, sometimes it can be tiresome

I also miss some serious threads, and I really think that the serious ones tend to have a short life, but I don't think people are being stupid. I mean, take a look at the memberlist, great part of the users is 13-18 years old They are not being stupid, they are just been teens, you cannot blame them for that. Besides, I don't feel comfortable in opening some kind of threads - or replying to them - knowing that 13 years old kids may read them.

Furthermore, spammers and abusers will exist as long as humans walk on Earth. Maybe if you created your own private forum then invited those members you think that are more mature than overall you could had some serious talk with them. If one day I feel like you I think I would try it because, in the end, I still like the place

And with things getting boring, the only reason I stay on this site is because of my friends. So maybe you could give up your staff position and talk to people in chat? That's what I do. I'm not in it for the games lol.

geeogree : I know what you mean. Even as a Trusted Member, posting feels like a job. Like Robert7, I'm not in this for the games. Posting is the main reason I'm online. But hey, you shouldn't give up your staff position. I looked up to you when I joined Vizzed as "The Coolest Poster On Vizzed". Instead of giving up your staff position, why not look at it a different way. Think of all of the people you influence on this site. I'm not trying to tell you what to do. I want you do what you think is best for you and the other members.

You might be over exagerating just a little but I haven't been active enough to notice. It's possible that the newbie quiz may no longer be required to take in order to post, not sure if there's a glitch but I'm pretty sure I saw a newbie posting who failed the newbie quiz, I'll have to look into that and make sure that it's required to take before posting (that would definitely explain the situation if it were the case).
