we called someone who told tales to the teachers a grass and they would not be spoken to by anyone else after that, as in a snake in the grass I suppose.

I never told tales on anyone except when I was bullied and I had to speak out to get it to stop.

We called those people rats

I would never tell on anyone when I was a child unless I was being blamed for something really serious. Then it would be bad because the teacher would punish all of us because we wouldn't tell on whomever it was.

I lived by Riley's rule from the boondocks "no snitchin'" so i never really told on anyone..

I don't tell tales on people, it just makes you look bad. Unless there suicidal or something similar, thats totally different.

Here they call that "tattle taling" or simply snitching.
That usually leads to trouble and problems with others...I would mind me business.

I did a lot in kindergarten. I guess I found it amusing to watch kids get busted by the teacher. After that I stopped though.

No, I never realy tell on anyone. None of my business, even if I did know what was going on. If something serious was going on, then I probally would.

We called those people snitches or narks.

It really depends what it's about... If it's someone is suicidal, or bringing weapons to school, or being bullied... I would definitely tell. You can't keep stuff like that a secret, it's not responsible.

I would also tell on fights (not that I ever did, it was just my policy) because I think they're stupid. Just flat out stupid. Planned fights after school are such a joke. Sure, hitting someone is a great way to settle something.... If you're six.

Since the school VPs kept it confidential, not many snitches got any crap for it, since nobody really knew who they were.

People should get over the whole popularity thing and start thinking - always tell on a bully, who the hell do they think they are?
Everyone being too afraid to get bullied or called names when telling something are cowards...okay, guess that's only natural and little kids don't know that.
Which is how it goes.

I did tell when I saw that someone was acting superior and causing mental or physical damage, how could I not?
I always told them first what I think of them, but -
You can always step up to others, but the truth is - no one is actually going to listen to you, someone their own age. You can beat them up or get back at them the same ways - which is the most pointless thing to do - violence only causes more violence.

I would like to believe that we all grow out of it some time, but as I've seen - some don't.


The bullying thing was more of a problem in elementary school, didn't see it that much in high school and pretty much none in college.

I never tell tales about anyone, unless I personally know that by telling someone it will actually help the person. E.G suicide or other problems that can be helped with human interaction

yeah we call em grasses here too, well i have never grassed on anyone because alot of the time its neevr to do with me and when it is i liek sorting it out myself, unless it gets too out of hand, luckily it hasnt ever been that bad though
