the game starts ok but the sound will randomly stop and or glitch over and over again. is this a plug in problem or the game it self?

Well, it's either one of three things.
One- it's a plugin issue, cant do anything about that till the next plugin comes out.
(Approximately 2 weeks)
Two- your video card or your CPU are not powerful enough.
The N64 games have certain system requirements.
The only way to deal with that is to upgrade.
Three- You need to update your PCs drivers.
Do that by running windows update and by downloading updates from your video card makers website.
