I'm not gonna make my hatred for Transformers 2 a secret or all... or to Michael Bay at all. I've hated nearly all of his movies from Pearl Harbor, to The Rock, to The Island, or to Bad Boys I and II. Someone said it best "He's like sugar rushed 12 year old who just plays with toys aggressively, smashing it hard on the floor and pretending he's flying with it" How or why Michael Bay would make a two hour movie in which barely ANYTHING happens. When I first watched it with my older brother, I was just amazed why people even cheered for this movie. Nothing in the movie was good, awful and racist comic relief characters, and just so much more.

Let me just cut to the comic relief characters. There were the two dogs having sex, while Shia's parents were discussing about sex it decides to pan over to this scene as if I'm supposed to laugh at this, there was that awful X-Files type of guy who always says "THE GOVERNMENT IS UP TO THIS" which brings up another point, apparently the government can wrap up robots FIGHTING each other in places like Italy and France as if everyone there is too idiotic to even record this crap on a phone, however the government CANT wrap up sex scandals. And for some reason they had that pirate Transformers with a beard on as if a robot can grow a BEARD. Another comic relief character was that terrible Italian Joe Pesci like Transformer, Shia's two stoner college buddies, and the worst Slab and Mudflap which you can imagine as Jar Jar Binks if he was even more racist and idiotic. It pulls of this horrendous sterotype of black people which I'm shocked that Michael Bay would even stoop as low as that.

The dick and sex jokes were just awful as well, considering this is Transformers. The last thing I'd think about from a movie about robots beating the crap out of each other is sexual innuendos. For some reason there was a scene of John Tuttoros hairy ass in the film as if I'm supposed to get some sort of stiffy from it. And you gotta love how hard Michael Bay sold out with so many products, the Mountain Dew machine, him using Burger King to sponsor it, and even Chevrolet. I believe there was instance in that movie where there were posters of Bad Boys II (Correct me if I'm wrong) as if Michael Bay wanted to remind me of that mess of a movie.

There was a lot more that I was going to rant about it, but I just mostly forget. Though I'd like to hear your opinion on the movie.

I thought it was a decent movie, but then again I'm not a huge Transformers fan.

As a TF fan I can this movie was mediocre at best.
Definately not worth the hype, it relied on alot of explosions and purile jokes to carry it.
Most of the Transformers (you know, the robots that the movie is supposed to be about?) had no character and no backstory, and the ones that did were mostly jokes.
The only good bit of the whole movie was probally the forest battle, it was at least a more acurate display of a battle then anything else in the whole movie.
It's really only good for that one scene and if you want to watch giant robots make fools of themselves while a teenager saves the day (WTF?! the hero is supposed to be Prime, not Spike...)

DarkHyren : are you talking about the scene where optimus prime gets killed?

I thought the second transformers movie was ok. It wasn't great. I liked the first one more though. Shia labouff said that the third one( which they're making right now) will be better. But I doubt it.

megarevolution1 : Yes, I'm talking about the scene in which Prime is killed at the end.
Not because of that, but because it's a good scene all around.

Honestly, the third movie will probally be just as bad, because with Bay at the helm all we'll ever get is explosion, explosion, lame joke, explosion, another lame joke, explosion, giant robot balls, explosion, something stupid, explosion.
The end. explosion.

drag00n365 : mehhh... I think they're fine lol. The movie wasn't too bad for me, but I felt like there were so many flaws in that movie that I kind of regretted going to the movies to see it. Michael Bay, I don't really mind his movies either, but this movie was probably the one with the most problems for me. Like DH said, the scene with the battle in the forest was probably the best scene in the film.

mdynasty926 is basically right.
Spike Witwicky is an Autobot-allied human from the Generation 1 continuity.
He and his father, Sparkplug, were the first humans to meet and make friends with the Autobots.

As I said previously, I found the jokes lame, they had no real intelligence to any of them, they were pretty much schoolyard jokes.
It saddens me that the next movie is going to be "a more character driven film with less robots".
Bay doesn't understand that the robots ARE the characters, so expect alot more scenes with alot of people standing around with a robot in the background peeing

A quote "What is puzzling to me is that Spielberg, Bay, and Krueger don't seem to understand that you can have a character driven story with just robots. That's the beauty of Transformers; they've had personalities since day one."

Transformers is something I have a passion for. Geewun all the way. Mike Bay took a chance and resurrected a dying franchise. Yeah he fumbled the ball but he made something that before was a niche cartoon into an acceptable media for all who werent exposed or who just didnt watch it as a kid because it was too "kiddie" for them or whatever. It was also a way for adults to bring their children or younger friends to the table. Face it....before Mike Bay there was a slew of haphazard bullcrap little cartoons that more resembled Dragon Ball Z. There wasnt a video game "War for Cybertron". There wasnt a ressurection of the Geewun cartoon. There most certainly werent going to be any more toys as "Hasblo" had decided to cancel the Universe line due to "unpopularity" even though they couldnt keep them on the shelf. Despite what you may feel and what I may agree with on how you choose to feel. Mike Bay did more FOR the Transformers brand then anyone else did at a time when Transformers needed a good solid win to get its fire started again! Love him or hate him. Love the movie or hate the movie! It was a necessary step to keeping the franchise going!

Carpool : There's nothing kiddie about this movie. Last time I checked two dogs doing it together wasn't kid appropriate, using dick and sex jokes last time WASN't kiddy. Am I supposed to care about how Bay resurrected a franchise? Are you going to praise all the directors who did crappy remakes as "keeping the franchise going" Michael Bay did more for the Pearl Harbor history then anyone else? Does that mean he should be praised? No, he shouldn't because he just made it into some twisted crapfestival of inaccuracy.

Why should Transformers be resurrected, it's been for what 20 years? He did nothing to expand the franchise and relied on Deus Ex Machina and comic relief character like plotlines.

I can see that you are embitters and because of that...also because Im the new guy and going against the grain is what I seem to do....however. If you were a true Transfan you would appreciate the fact that he opened the doors for this franchise to be carried by others who will eventually do great things. I dont really care about the means they justify the ends. Im not going to debate with you further about this. I simply will not fight anyone online because its like being the fastest kid in special olynpics! We are all allowed to have an opinion and I was simply expressing mine! No need for an attack!

The movie was pretty terrible, and it gave me quite a headache. There were so many explosions that I really didn't consider it a movie. I just thought of it as an orgy of CGI destruction.

Carpool : Wow, talk about someone who doesn't know anything about the subject they are talking about.
Of course, your incorrect use of terms, like "Geewun" and "Hasblo" also proves that.
There is so much wrong with your post I don't know where to start.
But since this is a subject I care about, here comes a long post.

"No need for an attack"
I'm putting this at the top so you know, no attacking going on here.
And it's not because you're new, just telling you that you are wrong

"There wasnt a video game "War for Cybertron""
No, there was instead an in depth video game based on the Armada series on PS2/XB.
And before that a Beast Wars game on the Playstation/N64.
And other games before that.
Oh, and WFC is based off the comics and G1 cartoons, so the Bay movies have nothing to do with it, the game would have been made anyway.

"before Mike Bay there was a slew of haphazard bullcrap little cartoons that more resembled Dragon Ball Z"
I don't think you ever have watched G1 or anything afterwards.
DBZ: lots of fighting dragged out over 20 episodes for one battle, no story.
Transformers: lots of stories, with a battle at most spanning 3 episodes.
Now I might admit the Minicon series wasn't the best, even it was better then DBZ.

"Mike Bay did more FOR the Transformers brand then anyone else did at a time when Transformers needed a good solid win to get its fire started again! Love him or hate him. Love the movie or hate the movie! It was a necessary step to keeping the franchise going!"
The only thing Bay did was make Transformers popular with people with little to no attention span.
The brand did perfectly fine for 20 years, the ONLY time it lapsed was in the late 80s when the show stopped airing in america.
But it was still selling everywhere else. And the franchise was revitalised in the states by Beast Wars, which brought toys with increased pose points which has been built upon since.

"There wasnt a ressurection of the Geewun cartoon"
There still isn't a "ressurection of G1". There are series like "Animated" but that is nothing like G1.
But there was a continuation of G1. It happened in the late 80's.
There was three seasons after G1. Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory.

"niche cartoon"
Lets see...
G1, Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Beast Wars, Beast Wars animated, Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise, Armada, Energon, Cybertron...
Hardly seems that niche with 10 differents series of at least 50 episodes a peice.

"There most certainly werent going to be any more toys as "Hasblo" had decided to cancel the Universe line due to "unpopularity" even though they couldnt keep them on the shelf"
Are you talking about the Universe line that ran from 03-05?
Hasbro would not and do not stop selling toys, especially if they are popular.
The first movie toys were suppose to fill the 06 spot, but the movie was delayed.
So they released the "Classics" series in 06. Rather then quit selling Transformers, they made a whole other line.
Then they made the Universe 2.0 line from 08-09. Then the Animated line.
And notice that the second Universe line was released after the first movie toys were, so I hope you don't mean those.

"If you were a true Transfan"
Yeah, guess what? I am, which is one reason I can throw all these facts at you.
I never stopped believing, watching or loving the big bots.
Sounds like you did, that you are one of the guys that had some G1, lost interest, and only got back into it because it became "popular" with the general public.

Wow...I certainly am no match for you. I just dont care to argue with you any further. I am a geewunner without question. It appears though that you want to throw "factual" information around and make sure that everyone knows that youre the big boy on the bot block. I never questioned you about anything I never attacked your opinions. You seem to have created a thread so that you can argue with people. You posed a question I gave my opinion.

Point one- I didn't create this thread
Point two- I never asked any questions here
Point three- No, my opinions were not attacked.
But the facts were. So I responded to the points made.
Everything I listed was factual information.
Information that is easily found on the internet.

So then, by the statement of Carpool of "I am a geewunner without question" I will take it that he is backing up my statement, that he is in fact "one of the guys that had some G1, lost interest, and only got back into it because it became "popular" with the general public"

Ok, sorry for going off topic peoples, back to other opinions on the movie now.
I'll add this though, at least someone did the right thing by inviting Peter Cullen back to resurrect his role as Optimus Prime for the movies.
After all these years, he is still the one and only man for the job

The transformers sequel was just about as low as you can go in a movie like that. Who wants to see john turturro's ass, shock value? I think not.

I've never seen it myself but I heard about all the horrible jokes that go on in it. I saw the first one and it was enough the dialogue alone is just horrible and not worth it to see the second. I don't think adding personalities to the robots did them good reminds me of T3 when arnold walked into gay bar and picked up the talk to the hand phrase That killed it haha.
