So I grew up with the playstation, I have played one or two games on the SNES and Master system, I don't really have any memories of them. What I'm looking to ask though is will someone who never grew up with these games on the NES, SNES and so on still be able to enjoy them? I have finished at least one game which was Chrono Trigger. I enjoyed it. However I don't know if that's a one off or not, what should I expect going back to these games?

Also do you think going back to these "harder" games would make my skill in modern games better at least?

And is there a disadvantage to Original vs PC emulation?

EDIT: Potentially dangerous links removed by mod for user safety!

You could definitely still enjoy the games regardless of if you grew up with them or not I grew up with the ps2 but I still love games like Super Mario World despite the fact I didn't play it till 20 years after the game came out. As for what you should expect I think it depends on the kinda games your looking to play I would expect some games to be harder and more cryptic in comparison to current gen games because sometimes the translation back then wasn't great. When it comes to skill it really depends if you played a 2d platformer that was hard and really pushed you for a while on nes or snes then played a modern 2d platformer I could see it helping your skill or if you do some hard game where you have to react quickly you could raise your reaction times by playing older games. I think the only thing you lose by playing on emulation is the feeling of playing something that's a part of history this might just be me but playing on official hardware that's before my time just feels special somehow. I would almost argue emulation has more good things in its favor though because if your playing something really tough I can never undersell save states I don't know if you'd consider it cheating because that depends on the person but like I personally don't have the patience to get a game over and start the entire game over anymore I got things to do.

I hope I was able to help at least a little bit
