Alot has changed since I originally signed up for this site over a decade ago, without being a member in 2010 I could only play 5 games a day. And they used a javascript format, now they have multiple formats and I can play without signing in.

I truly enjoy nostalgic console gaming especially at Christmas (when I normally had my SMS or GEN hooked up) what hasn't changed is that the plugins are still a thing

I just wish I could change the controls on the retroarch player

I also play educational PC games during the summer

I could list all of my favourites to boost the Viz points but that might be best suited for a separate thread. I don't currently own any consoles or console games

We registered the same year, it's nice to see someone from my era still around, even though you weren't on the board or anything. I think David is probably more worried about the plugin surviving the death of flash than Retroarch controls right now, but I'll bring it up to him if I ever get a proper opportunity. I still remember when we finally got PSX, it was supposed to be impossible due to server space, but it still got done anyway. A lot of good memories around here, I doubt I could ever leave permanently.

Thank you for the reply Penny.

I'm so used to the NeptunJS on other gaming sites which would give me the freedom to use the numpad as arrows. The arrow keys on my laptop aren't completely reliable as the up and down keys are kind of small and make it hard to navigate when it comes to certain games, I had to use a plug in keyboard, and I don't want to rely too much on it

btw I love your reply layout

Better late than never to say hello on the boards!

Looking back, Vizzed surely has improved. The arrival of PSX, after it the even more improbable Dreamcast, the progressive change to Retroarch and HTML5 emulators... It really is a much different site now, even for me who registered a few years after you.

We will eventually get the non plugin-based formats updated, as the plugin will be discontinued in a matter of days. We're hoping to hire staff that can help us test the emulators and all its options, so hopefully we'll get everything sorted out and fixed relatively soon.

It's strange that you don't own any console or games, have you switched to PC gaming or you have simply lost interest in the newer generations? Just asking because, even to a casual gamer like me, it'd be awfully odd to own no consoles or anything related at all, even with the emulators and the few PC games I have.

EX Palen :

I'm sure there is plenty to be excited about whenever a new console comes out (I wonder if there really was any truth to old Playstation games working on a PS5) and to be fair I did ask for a Sega Genesis mini for christmas last year, but even if I did get it, it wouldn't have everything that I played. Playing the games I did play back in my pre-teen years makes me happy enough though, as well as playing the console games online that I DIDN'T own (I had no idea they made sequels to Streets of Rage, or Thunderblade, or Hang-on,etc)

I do own plenty of PC games though, however a majority of them are educational games, all it took was one person playing Carmen Sandiego 3.5 that made me want to get a virtual desktop going. I could go on about them but a part of me wants to figure out where I can post about the console games I did own, and the old PC games I currently own

And when you guys do work on Retroarch, I do have another complaint (even though I kind of found my way around it) that pop up thing about the controls, I wish there was a hide function on it whenever m cursor moves to the play screen

Okay I actually forgot that I own a Nintendo DS with some games, it's just been awhile since I played it. Though it is possible to play DS emulators on another site it's kind of difficult to manage. I think I've owned it since 2008. My mother has used it in recent years for Tetris, I used in recent years for the Sonic Classic Collection which I've owned since 2014 (and good timing too because the nostalgic gaming center of my brain was starting to grow it's cells). I was actually thrilled a few years back when I found Wacky Races for DS, but it was kind of a letdown because it said you could play as your favourite racer (but....what if there were people out there that wanted to play as Dick Dasterdly's Mean Machine?) and I just realized you couldn't play this on a emulator anyway because you have to blow into the mic function in order to make the vehicle go faster, my cheek muscles got a workout from that (and I assume that's how Mario Kart DS would have worked as well)

and yes I did have one of the Brain Age games, that was quite fun to play

zanderlex : well I wanted to show off some nostalgic console gaming memories over the holidays from when my main console was the SMS, my original plan was to show off the gaming from another emulator site but my computer doesn't have the GBs it used to have 4 years ago (and NeptunJS on this laptop is kind of laggy now), even after I cleaned out enough content to clear some space, but for some reason the RetroArch player here works great (except for the controls pop up and the menu pop up that would get in the way if my cursor showed up on the gaming screen but I found a way to maneuver around that, I thought logging in would make it go away but it didn't, so here I am)

I love hearing stories like this. Stories of users who observed the site and its changes from a distance or quietly. Getting different perspectives of the site is not only enjoyable to read about, but it also offers me motivation and inspiration for future developments.

I appreciate that you stuck around this entire time

pennylessz : I'll have to make a thread at some point asking users what they'd like to see added to RetroArch on Vizzed. It'd be a big project to fulfill everything but it all needs to be done eventually since the HTML5 RetroArch is the future of Vizzed.

Well at the risk of being dinged, I am happy to say that I currently now own a Sega Genesis Mini because Wal-mart had it on sale, even though I was able to hook it up to my mother's laptop it didn't seem to turn on (the manual made it look like it was a tv exclusive) I had to explain to my dad that this was a bargain compared to the price of a Nintendo Switch or a Playstation 5, so for those that actually do own one is there a way to get it to work on a computer?

classgame : I don't think you can run the Sega Genesis Mini on a computer since it's meant to be a standalone device. The only way to sorta play it on your computer would be using a capture device but those are expensive.

You can actually mod those things which allows you to add more games to it. In fact, you can mod it to play games for N64, SNES, NES and pretty much any (well known) retro system.
