We've been having some crazy cold days here in Wisconsin, temperatures of up to -31 F (-35 C) with a windchill beyond -50 F. It's the type of weather that can kill you pretty quick if you're not dressed for it.

So how does this slow down my development? Well it means my kids have had a few days off from school and with my wife at work, I'm the one stuck taking care of them this week. On top of that, my daughter was gone from school almost all of last week because of an illness so I was again stuck taking care of her last week.

Anyways, all of this has slowed down my development by about a week. So if I don't get to things that I should have had taken care of this week, these are the reasons for my delays. The new Site Staff stuff will be taken care of tomorrow because of this also. Tonight's music stream will still take place at 4 PM central time though, that should be unaffected.

From now on, I'm going to try and post updates like this when stuff gets in the way of my time on the site so that you guys aren't left wondering where I'm at or if I've ditched the place lol. Communication is good

Family obviously comes first, no worries!

-30 F is insane. A girl in my French class is from Minnesota and she was telling me that the school her dad works at is closed as well. She also said that it's kind of fun when it gets that cold because everything becomes a challenge. For example, going to the grocery store isn't a mundane task anymore, it's a battle against the elements to see if you can make it to and from the store alive. I don't see how that's fun at all, but to each their own I guess lol.

Stay warm!

Dang, and I thought 10 was cold, I couldn’t imagine being in -30 degree weather. I hope y’all have been staying safe up there, that’s pretty ridiculous.

Make sure that all y’all are ok before focusing on the site, we’ve had a lot of trouble here in the south for temperatures still above zero.

Stay safe David.

I knew your guy's wind chill was going to be crazy cold, but I didn't realize your actual temperature would be that low. Where I live, the low was around -5, with a wind chill of around -25 to -30.

That is funny it is colder then Antarctica. It feels like Florida here and that is strange cause I live in midwest, it should be cold and snowy but it's not.

Did your daughter get the flu? I did, I really should have gotten a flu shot but didn't. I rarely go anywhere and I still got it somehow! Been feeling like absolute crap the past few weeks.

Where you live does have a lot of weather extremes, either if it's way too hot or way too cold, like where I live, it's really not too bad, it got down to like 32 degrees F, and that is living on the Gulf Coast, which that is extremely rare to see, sure, you all might feel a little jealous because it's warmer where I live, but the Summer here is the worse, imagine dealing with 100 degree F combined with high humility.

This basically this sums it all up: Winter in the Northern United States sucks and Summer in the Southern United States sucks.

But anyways, stay safe David, find a way to stay warm.

Coldest I've ever experience as about 0 F, and it was really strange. Tennessee is a rather humid place. Not Florida by any stretch, but pretty moist. But it was so dry that day that you almost couldn't tell it was as cold as it was. Breathing kind of hurt. We're also supposed to get pretty cold here, too. Around 0 again, last I heard.

Stay safe, man.

Davideo7 :   sounds sort of like what,s happening down where I live right now we are going through pretty cold weather too with a high of -31 to a low of -22 to -27 in fact they issued an extreme cold warning due to potentially dangerous wind chills of -40 I work outside at my 2 jobs so I know what it,s like to have really cold weather I don,t know about where you live but down here january is usually one of the coldest months for us but right now it,s hard to tell what the rest of winter will be like i guess all we can do is hope that the temperature will warm up soon

tgags123 : When it's that cold outside, it's just painful. You really have to pump yourself up just to go out there. When there's wind and the windchill is so high, it just unbearable. Sometimes cars just don't work when it's this cold and people are literally unable to get to work because of it. I'm glad it's not snowing on top of it being really cold because a lot of snow can sometimes knock out the power and having the power knocked out at a time like this could be deadly. Just being out on the highway driving through the country is deadly since you risk your car breaking down due to the cold and then being stranded in your own vehicle freezing to death as you wait for someone to come by to let you hop into their vehicle, which not everyone is trusting enough to just let you in their vehicle.

Barathemos : Yeah it sounds like the kids have another day off from school. I think it's the coldest streak of weather we've had here in years.

gamerforlifeforever : Thankfully the actual temperature will only exceed -30 for a few days. It's going to jump up to 35 F on Saturday, which is kinda crazy that the temperature is going to jump by nearly 70 F over the span of 2 days. When it gets very cold for many days, pipes start freezing so we're ordered to keep sinks running 24/7 but thankfully that hasn't been the case yet this year.

JigSaw : She's actually been sick 3 times in the past 4 months and I think antibiotics have a lot to do with it. 4 months ago she got pneumonia so the doctor treated it with antibiotics. A month later she got strep throat and so the doctor treated it with antibiotics. 2 months later she gets an ear infection so severe that she can't walk and is vomiting, and what do you know, doctor gives her antibiotics. They're great and fighting off what you currently have but they drop your immune system so much that you are more at risk of getting something else right afterward and it doesn't help when they kids gotta go to a public school while recovering since that exposes them to 100s of other kids with poor hygiene. Thankfully I never got any of it.

IgorBird122 : We can get pretty hot summers here also. Probably not as bad as yours but it's not uncommon for us to get 100 F here and our hot summers always come with insane humidity, which makes it just hard to breath.

m0ssb3rg935 : Yeah breathing in anything too cold is terrible on the lungs. I usually try to breath inside my coat.

no 8120 : I think it's January and February that are the coldest around here. I can't imagine having to be outside in that kind of weather

When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union, an unusually intense winter had set in and there were supposedly reports of soldiers having to start fires under tanks before they would start because they used really heavy oil.

To everyone affected, drive safely and make sure you bring warm blankets in case something goes really wrong.

m0ssb3rg935 : I'm not sure if it's true or not, probably is, but I've always been told around here to always leave your gas tank half full during the extreme cold days of winter. I guess the gas gets too cold and doesn't work properly if there's not enough of it in the gas tank. Like I said, I don't know if it's true since I've never experienced it but I can definitely see that as being a possibility. Even if the gas has a much colder freezing point, I can see it losing it's effectiveness and reacting differently if it's too cold.

Also, today isn't much warmer. -27 F right now and kids had school cancelled yet again.

Davideo7 : Yeah, down here, you have the extreme heat (like 100-110 Degrees F, which is normal here), plus possible hurricanes, and weird weather where it's clear & sunny one minute, then storming and downpouring the next minute, and then clear & sunny the next minute. Gulf Coast weather is weird..

As for record coldest temperature, the lowest temperature that my hometown have ever gotten in recorded history was around 12 Degrees F, which like I said, is really nothing compared to what you guys experienced in the northern states, but it's not the lowest I've experienced, because when I lived in Pittsburgh, PA for 7 years (2005-2012), I experienced near 0 Degrees F temperature.

IgorBird122 : Thankfully where I live, we don't get any disastrous type weather. In my town anyway, it's incredibly rare to get tornadoes, not at risk of flooding, pretty much a safe place for the most part.

If you're not use to cold temperature then I'm sure pretty much any cold temperature can be rough to deal with.

Well now we have a snow storm coming and they've already cancelled school for tomorrow. This is probably the earliest I've seen them cancel school where I live, must be a pretty bad snow storm Anyways, probably not going to get a lot done tomorrow.

Davideo7 : You are probably getting the storm I am getting right now. And yes, it is pretty bad. It is probably going to be worse up there. I'm thinking that all the polar bears and penguins from Antarctica should move to Wisconsin for their new home

JigSaw : Forgot to mention that my kids had Monday cancelled also. As a kid, I don't ever remember having more than 2 days off from school in a single year for bad weather. Already they've had I think 6 days off now.

I prefer lots of snow over extreme cold but I also work in town so I don't have far to travel. I hate having to shovel the driveway though, ours is probably twice as big as the average driveway and we don't have a snow blower so I have to shovel it all with just a shovel and it can be a lot of work and time consuming. I had to shovel yesterday, the day before and again today. At least it's a good workout.
