The MLB HOF was just announced, and justice has been served! Edgar Martinez got in with 363 (85.4%) in his 10th and final season of eligibity.

The history part? Well, 2 things happened this year. Not only did Edgar get 363 (85.4) votes, but so did Roy Halladay. This is only the 2nd time in history that 2 players have been elected in the same year with the same ammount of votes. The other time? 1936, when Honus Wagner and Baba Ruth got in with 215/226 (95.6%) votes.
The other bit of history is that Mariano Rivera was unanimously elected with all 425 votes, the first time in history a player has been unanimously elected.

The other player to be elected, making 4 players elected for just the 5th time in history? Mike Mussina, squeeking in with 326 (76.7) votes.

If you would like to read more about the players and their individiaul achievements, check out the official Baseball Hall of Game article about the elections for this year: https://baseballhall.org/news/halladay-martinez-mussina-rivera-elected-to-hall-of-fame

It's really cool that Rivera made it in sop soon. I'm also really happy for Mike since he's one of my 3 most favorite Yankees pitchers of all time.

I'm happy for Mo, definitely deserving of the unanimous vote. He shouldn't have been the first, as Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and a few others should have been unanimous as well, but if anyone were to vote against Mariano Rivera they shouldn't even have a vote at all.

I'm happy for Edgar Martinez and Mike Mussina as well, and I think all four of the players that got elected deserve to be there.

I do think there were a lot of others on the ballot that deserve to make the Hall, including Bonds and Clemens. I guess we'll see if they make it in the future.

tgags123 : I'm surprised Clemens didn't make it. Not surprised Bonds didn't, because of the 'roids.
And I have no idea who Mike Mussina is off the top of my head.

thing1 : Clemens was a big steroid user too.

Mussina was an ace starting pitcher for the Orioles the first half of his career, and then for the Yankees the second half of his career.

tgags123 : I still don't recognize the name Mussina. I just started really following baseball the past year or two outside of my team. And even then, it's not really following, more so hating the Yankees and Astro's.
I did not know Clemens was a 'roid user, too. *raise eyebrows* huh. How about that.
