That'd be great, but I have a feeling the company wouldn't do that.
Minecraft isn't as popular as it used to be. I imagine they are going to try to get as much as they can out of it at this point.

Davideo7 : Even despite that I'm not really associated with the official Vizzed Minecraft Server for more than 3 years, but to put my 2 cents into the idea, I say to go for it and migrate the Vizzed Minecraft Server to the Pocket/Bedrock Edition, so that way you get the people that doesn't have the PC/Java version of the game but has the Pocket/Bedrock Edition a chance to be on the Server

MC Java users can get Bedrock for free, its been that way since Windows 10 version came out in beta. You just need to log in to the mojang website and follow its instuctions. Keep in mind you will need Windows 10 to play it.

Mojang has stated they will not stop working on Java edition, however console version (ps3, ps4, xbox360 and xbox 1/1 X) will have their final update with the Update Aquatic.

I am more partial to Java since I mainly play modded MC and rarely if ever play vanilla. If it helps generate more traffic to vizzed though I think it should be migrated over.

Vanelan : Yeah, Minecraft has already past it's prime peak like 4 years ago after Notch left Mojang, and they are just barely holding on. I personally think that Mojang will keep going for at least a few more years, and don't do anymore updates and mostly focus on bug fixes and let the individuals do their own updates with mods and such.

anime_fan_one : A lot of Minecraft fans prefers the Java Edition over any other Editions, even more than the Windows 10 part of the Bedrock Edition on their Windows 10 computer/laptop. Like I told Vanelan, Mojang will still work on both the Java Edition and the Bedrock Edition (including both Nintendo Switch and 3DS versions) for a few more years.

Well, I would say go to Bedrock Edition buuuuuuut didn't PocketMine used to be SUPER unstable? Also, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been upgraded since MCPE 0.12, but maybe that's just PocketMine-MP which you can run on Android. Also, none of my computers can get Windows 10 for free; I only use Windows XP and Vista on my secondary computers and Linux on my main. Besides, Windows 10 is no longer a free upgrade. I think they even stopped it being free when you pretend to use the accessibility features. I do have an Android tablet, but it's a Tesco Hudl (yes it works; the charger board has been replaced twice) from 2012 and has 1GB of RAM, which is less than my main computer and Vista secondary. Basically, Bedrock Edition runs terribly on my tablet, plus I don't have access to it right now. So do whatever, I might be able to somehow get a VM running with Win10, or maybe find a way to get Bedrock Edition on Vista. (I didn't intend this to be such a long reply, but I just sorta started rambling .-.)

So it turns out that any user who has a copy of the Java version of Minecraft gets a free upgrade to the Bedrock Edition This means that anyone would have access to joining this server as long as they claim their free upgrade. Thanks to anime_fan_one for providing this info. More details here:
https://help.mojang.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2064007-minecraft-for-windows-10

anime_fan_one : I just looked it up and you're correct. Java users can a free upgrade to the Windows 10 aka Bedrock Edition. When they refer to console version, they refer to the old version of the game on the Xbox One. There's currently 2 versions on the Xbox One, the "console version" and the "bedrock edition".

Keep in mind that the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft can be modded. It might not currently have as many mods as the Java version but in time it should be able to have a comparable amount.

Greatgira : The old version of PocketMine is no longer updated. The current version is updated almost daily. I'm not sure how stable it is since I haven't tried it out myself yet but from what I've read, it's the best server software for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.

Java is life but I think it should be migrated over, it'd likely increase traffic and I know how dead the server's been lately.

As previously brought up, I'd also be interested in a discord server that syncs with the minecraft chat. That sounds like a good idea.

Personally, I'm against it as for I find Java to still be accesible to many players. It doesn't require a very high end PC to run and it seems much more stable than the other versions of the game, I understand that having crossplay could unite more players but there weren't a large number of players to begin with on the server, the community seemed small yet welcoming. Just my opinion though.

Java version pls. Using bedrock alienates any PC user who doesn't want to touch Windows 10, me included, and the added console support doesn't really make up for all the Win 7/8/Linux users out there

If you can't bring the server, back up, release the worlds pls. I'd gladly host 'em on an unofficial server.

ProbablyNotAPear : The new Bedrock version of Minecraft was built from the ground up with optimization and compatibility in mind. It's basically built to be able to run on a phone so it theoretically should have no problem running on a PC and should be able to outperform the java version.

Like previously mentioned, the old Minecraft server was starting to get no traffic and would go long periods where very few users were playing (and often times none at all). It was an awesome server at its prime but I think a new wave of traffic might be what it needs.

bigger0gamer : I'm looking at this at a long term standpoint. Eventually Windows 7 will be discontinued and those users will have to upgrade to Windows 10. I also have a feeling that the development of the Java version will eventually slow down.

Cooliogb : Yeah I'd look into a chat solution with it. Possibly the discord idea like you mentioned.

Btw, I found an image showing a render time comparison of the Java version and Bedrock version. The Bedrock version kinda blows it a way by a massive margin

Well, I've got the new version now so I'm ready for whatever version we get.

Also, anyone complaining about version issues.... none of you were playing for the last year the server was up so it's not like many of you are missing anything anyway right?

Davideo7 : The Bedrock edition "mods" are in the form of paid add ons and as far as I can tell have not been release yet. I may be wrong about the add ons not being released yet but I couldn't find them in the Bedrock store.

But why would I pay for add ons when Java mods are free?

anime_fan_one : You can get mods for free. You can get tons of mods for free. The stuff in the store costs money but you don't have to get the mods through the store.

I think there are a lot of misconceptions with the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft which is probably why so many users have a bad opinion of it and avoid it. Most of the things that users hate about it aren't even true at all which is unfortunate.

geeogree : Was the free upgrade easy to do?

Davideo7 : I already knew that it was free and all for java users, I already have it downloaded on my computer since months and months ago. I was just saying that some people prefer 7 over 10 and dont have up-to-date computers. I do agree that *eventually* everyones going to have it but that doesnt help us now. I support the idea, i really do, Im just pointing out probable/possible downsides.

Also, im just making sure, there is a 100% way to transfer worlds from java to bedrock right? Id hate to lose some of the work people have done.

EDIT: If not, would you/will you be open to sharing the world files on vizzed for others to download and use?

Davideo7 : it was super easy to do. Log-in with the e-mail that is associated with my account, click to get a free key for the Windows 10 version and then download the version. It took 5-10 minutes total.

vizzy900 : I don't know anything about Roblox so I wouldn't be the best person to set something up for that.

Even though I don't play Minecraft I think it sounds like a good idea to migrate it. The fact you can make your own php plugins sounds very interesting. Also, if the java version wasn't helping drive traffic no point in keeping it going for a few players who refuse to get Windows 10. I think the best way to decide is to look at the pros and cons of each version and decide from there. Besides the compatibility issue, bedrock sounds like it has more benefits for Vizzed.

I've got a compromise that would work: run a server for both. On the surface it doesn't sound practical, but I got a solution down below, just wanted to get some points out first.

1) I don't think it (overall) will matter what you choose.

We all know it: Vizzed is dead. Not dead dead, but it's dead. And Minecraft isn't exactly the huge powerhouse it was a few years ago, either. Between the declined popularity of both, I don't think a Vizzed Minecraft server would do as well today as it did back in the servers heyday. I don't think which version of Minecraft used to restart the server will impact that. It will still have some impact of course, since there definelty seems to be people (at least me), that won't play if it's bedrock (because Micro$oft loves to force people to do things, instead of giving users a choice), but there are probably people in the opposite camp, so it won't make that big of a deal in the end.

2) I'm going to rant about how much Micro$haft sucks. TL;DR, Windows 10 is bad and you should feel bad for using it. Or just ignore me, probably.

Seriously, *Windows 10?* We go from "runs on every operating system under the sun, so long as it runs java", which meant basically any version of Windows, Mac OSX, or Linux/GNU in the last 15-20 years would work, straight to "You must 'upgrade' to Windows 10, resistance is futile" in one straight shot? They could have at least made run on any version of Windows at least, since that wouldn't be any worse than 90%+ of other games out there, but to force you to lock-in to just one OS it just terrible. It may have literally everything else everyone has been asking for for many years, increased preformance and cross-platform multiplayer, but being forced to one OS kills it for me since I don't like being told what to do with my stuff, for one, and for two, Windows 10 isn't any good. First of all, just about anyone with Win7/8 got nagged to no end to "upgrade" to it, then that nagging windows transitioned into a window telling you that Windows 10 would be installed wiether you like it or not, but only after everyone had been trained to just close it, leaving many people forced with a OS they didn't want. Then add onto it that they added telemetry, just so they could hop on the big data bandwagon and mine user data at the OS level! Privacy is a thing damnit, and I'm not handing it over to M$ any sooner than Facebook or Google. And, a small grievance really, they haven't added or changed anything for the better from Windows 7. It may be better than Windows 8, but if Windows 7 is still a choice, I'd rather that.

All in all, Linux doesn't force nothing on you, and (unless your name is Ubuntu, since they had an incident with the OS search bar) doesn't invade your privacy either. GUI is a moot point, since if you don't like it, you can just get a new desktop environment. I need to stop putting off the move to linux. [/rant]

I think overall, the best solution tho would be to run both, or, just run bedrock, but release the java maps along with enough details about what software you had for the minecraft server (bukkit or psigot, what grief prevention plugin, what shop plugin, and quick of the head info). I know me and my brother loki19 would definitely take the worlds and put them up on a new java server and advertise it here as an unofficial server, so those who can't/won't use bedrock edition can still play on the old "classic" server. That, and people could just have fun with stuff in SP

I think running 2 servers is a terrible idea. Either David should run his bedrock one and everyone who has that or any other version that is compatible can play there or he (or someone else) runs a Java one and we stick to that. I don't see running both as being a good idea.

Also, that is a lot of rant for a minecraft server question. It is cute that you think you used to have privacy before windows 10.
