I don't know if I should be doing this or not, and perhaps a thread is not necessary, maybe this should actually be an article somewhere, but not a thread on Vizzed, more than anything else, the purpose of this is to give even more information to those who might be interested in the game, and also...get these words out of my chest...yes, this is a rant, after all. Maybe not many people will read this, but at least this shows I'm really passionate about the game, a little ironic really, still, I can't deny that the game has several cons and it's not just a case of ''the game isn't the most fun game of all time, even of its genre, and because of that it gets a score of less than a 7.5/10'', no, there's more. Many people have seen my review of Blue Reflection, it's a fact that I really didn't mention negative aspects in that review...anyway, here I go.

First, the censorship...Blue Reflection got on july 2017, before the game came out in America and Europe, a patch that added a model viewer to the dressing room, which, of course, lets you see the characters from any angle, this means you can peek under the skirt of all the characters and see their underwear if you desire...in Japan. When the game came out in America on september 26th, the model viewer wasn't nowhere, after a while Koei Tecmo released an update that added the model viewer to the western versions of the game but you can't rotate the camera to see their underwear, for a game developed by Gust, it was something big, the censored model viewer even warranted an article on operationrainfall, but even with that article, and all the controversy and complaints regarding the model viewer in the western version, Koei Tecmo America and Europe
never released an official statement, and I can't believe that...Koei Tecmo must understand that they are not Bandai Namco or Nintendo, they mainly publish japanese games and anime style games, but the japanese games they publish aren't very popular, Bandai Namco and Nintendo, for example, publish the, let's say, most mainstream japanese games, with the Dragon ball games, Pokemon, Mario, One Piece, Fire Emblem, and more, Koei Tecmo needs a good reputation with ''the true gamers'' because the average person who buys video games doesn't know about Koei Tecmo, or does not care about the games that Koei Tecmo publishes. Also, I'm convinced that having that feature (the model viewer) intact wouldn't have raised the age rating, it's just a guess, but considering the content of the base game, the rating wouldn't have changed, we shouldn't forget that Blue Reflection got a C rating in Japan, a 16 rating in Europe (both USK and PEGI), and an R18+ rating in Australia, sure, the game got a T rating in America, which as we know means 13 years and up, but if some of the Hyperdimension Neptunia games let you see under the skirt of the characters and even so get a T rating, why not Blue Reflection? Yes, one could say that the change is ''insignificant''. but censorship is censorship, and it's not something very insignificant if Koei Tecmo felt the need to censor the model viewer for the fear of outrage, or the possibility of a higher age rating (again, I doubt it), or whatever...right?

With the censorship out of the way, I'll mention aspects related to the localization...the translation of Blue Reflection is kind of bad, not only there are a lot of errors, it also seems that the people who translated the game took a few liberties...the subtitles aren't always an accurate translation of what the characters are saying, an example would be when Yuzu simply says ''Hina-chan...'', and the subtitle says ''Don't say that, Hina...'', according to the subtitle, Yuzu said more than what she really said, you can hear that she just says ''Hina-chan...'', and the subtitle says something else that wasn't said, with many voiced events in the game, there are more examples. Of course, it's not just an inaccurate translation, there are many errors...repeated words (''I want to to hang out with you more!''), Lime being called ''Raimu'', and many typos, it really seems that they skimped the proofreading, and that they ''did not give it their awll''. English is not even my first language, and even so, I can say that the translation of Blue Reflection is, again, kind of bad...that's not all, even in the menus there is an error, in the PS4 version, when you are in a menu and can confirm an option, the X button is marked with the word ''Settings'' instead of ''Confirm''...on another note, the game wasn't even translated by Koei Tecmo America or Europe, during the credits, the game will show the names of Acttil employees (four employees if I remember well) as the translators of the game, and that made me say ''Names of Acttil employees? What are they doing here? This is a game published by Koei Tecmo America, these people have no business here.'' It's also true that the game doesn't have an english dub, that's not too bad, I have played anime style games that don't have an english dub before, but Koei Tecmo has shown that they have enough budget for an english dub, they have published several games with an english dub, the Atelier games (with the exception of Lydie & Suelle), Ar Nosurge...at least a partial dub would be nice...oh well, It's not the first time they publish a game developed by Gust without giving the game an english dub, before Blue Reflection, they published Nights of Azure, and speaking of Nights of Azure...that game has a better translation than Blue Reflection.

Now, I can finally talk about the negative aspects of the game itself, bad things about Blue Reflection here in America and the rest of the world, including Japan. The game has, as I've said before, beautiful graphics, I love the art style and Blue Reflection is my favorite anime style game of all time at least visually, however, the animation of the 3D models during the events is occasionally stiff or robotic...some people have also criticized Blue Reflection for being repetitive and restrictive, and they are right, the game really is very repetitive and restrictive, you can (and must) complete quests to get rating points in order to continue with the story, but you can't do much more than that, in the real world, you only can explore Hoshinomiya Girls High School, you don't have the option of exploring the city or going outside of school after class, I don't mind the repetitiveness and restrictiveness of the game, but it must be mentioned, especially because it has been a problem for some people. The mini game ''Dark cave'' is almost useless, apparently the only purpose it has is that you have to play it in order to get a trophy I haven't been able to get, but you can ignore the mini game if you want. Another (real) problem is the slowdown, Blue Reflection has slowdown at least every once in a while, this is even more evident when it's raining and it's falling the strongest rain that can fall, with that rain, the game really suffers and the console can't handle the game...that, or the game isn't very optimized, Gust is a smaller developer than many others after all. I've heard that the frame rate in the PS Vita version is even worse at times, so...the PS Vita version also has bad frame rate.

I could also mention once again that the game is very easy, but just like the repetitiveness and restrictiveness of Blue Reflection, I don't mind the difficulty, some people, however, might have a problem with the low difficulty. Anyway, I really don't have more complaints about Blue Reflection, the season pass is more expensive than the game itself, I guess that's another negative aspect, but I haven't bought any downloadable content (and I don't plan to do that), still, I wanted to mention that...I guess that's all, I don't have anything else, well, actually, I have a nitpick but talking about that would require going into a little of spoiler territory, so, I won't.
Ugh Blue Reflection...

only good thing about the game is the art style
bought this game for 17 dollars, platinum it, then shelved it haha

its VERY repetitive doing things like
- collect X amount of orbs
- Defeat a certain enemy
- Defeat X amount of enemies
The combat is stale and slow, it gets boring, same with going out on dates with your friends

the negatives outweigh the positive

I'd give it a 3/10 :p

The only good thing is the art style? But what about the soundtrack? You don't like the soundtrack of Blue Reflection?
