Tour de Vizzed Updates

New Banner: Gray for Veterans
There's a new banner competition for veteran users. Any user who has been registered for more than 7 years qualifies for this competition. It functions very similar to the White Banner.

Biannual: Every 6 Months
The Tour de Vizzed will now be a biannual competition meaning that it'll only happen 2 times a year instead of 4 times a year like it previously was. Starting this month, the TdV will happen every January and July. Adjustments to this may be made in the future but we'll be testing this out for at least a year to see how it goes.



Here's some brief TdV info:

Each day there will be 4 Jerseys you can compete for:
Yellow Jersey: Most words in a day
Blue Jersey: Most posts in a day
Red Jersey: Most CP in a day
Green Jersey: Most CP actions in a day

If you get 1st place in a Jersey for a day, you get to "wear" that Jersey the following day. To "wear" it means that the background of your username will have a unique background graphic. Only the top 5 places of each Jersey gets points, 1st gets 5 and 5th gets 1. Whoever has the most points for any Jersey at the end of the competition gets to wear that Jersey for the entire next month. If you have more than 1 jersey, your jersey receives stripes for each jersey color you own.

Along with the Jerseys are Banners that change your username color. They basically represent who has the most points total:
Rainbow Banner: Whoever has the most points so far in the competition
White Banner: New member who has the most points so far in the competition (anyone who has signed up in the past 3 months)
Gray Banner: Veteran member who has the most points so far in the competition (anyone who signed up more than 7 years ago)

Tour de Vizzed Rules:

You'll be DQ'd if:
-More than 25% of your daily posts are made in one of the following forums: Crazy House, Vizzed Market, Polls and Questions, Video Game Craziness, Newbie Forum (unless posts are made in your own thread then it's 50%)
-You copy content from other websites or other posts
-You use the "tabbing" technique to make a bunch of posts in a short amount of time
-You're caught cheating or unfairly earning Contribution Points
-More than 25% of your daily posts are made in the same thread (your own thread and staff threads are an exception)
-If 50% or more of your daily words are posted in the final hour of the day
-Staff members are not allowed to feature their own reviews during the Tour de Vizzed

Additionally:
If you get DQ'd just once from a Jersey, you can no longer get points for that Jersey for the rest of the month. We will be very strict from now on with the Tour de Vizzed. Only CP actions which you earned CP off of count toward the Green Jersey.

If you get DQ'd from too many Jerseys in too many TdV competitions, you'll be DQ'd from the TdV forever. Also, if you get DQ'd from a single Jersey in too many competitions, you'll be DQ'd from that specific Jersey forever.

Also, if 50% or more of your daily words are posted in the final hour of the day, you'll be DQ'd from the Yellow Jersey. Too many users have waited until the end of the day to submit a bunch of reviews to the site and that's unfair to users competing.

Moving Ebay Listings for the time being does not count toward any of the Jerseys. The price guide feature hasn't been retrieving ebay listings in nearly 2 years because of ebay updating their scripts and me not finding the time to update my own scripts to reflect that so what I've been doing instead is, every few months, I buy a price guide from PriceCharting.com and batch add the data to the games. There's no reason to allow it to count since it's not beneficial to the site at all since all of those ebay listings are very outdated and those prices no longer reflect what's current.



Additional Tour de Vizzed Info:

Some CP actions only count as 1 per day. In other words, any action in the below list can only increase your Green Jersey points by 1:
Forum Navigation, Review Rated, User Referral Posted, Video Rated, Post Spell Checked, Visiting Vizzed, Screenshot Rated, Post, Game Commenting, Thread, Thread Reply, Chat Room Minute, Staff Forum Post, Staff Forum Thread and Screenshot Details Added.

These CP actions do not count toward the Green Jersey: Game Content.

Each day there will be a specific CP action which will be worth doubled the points which benefits the Red Jersey competition. Below is a list of which actions are worth doubled on which days this month:

Let the games begin!

And for the 25th Tour de Vizzed, some big changes were introduced! It will be really interesting to see the results of these changes, both in the short and medium-long term.

Nice to see the gray banner is finally up. Can't wait to properly see it in action. More than 7 years means that only users registered before 2011 qualify for it and we have quite a few roaming around, so we could see more than one user wearing it throughout the month.

Good to see that we finally downgraded to two competitions a year. While it may not directly increase activity in this month's competition, it should have an effect next July after five months without a competition and with most users being at their most active period throughout the year.

I still hold a great feeling after winning Yellow last time, so maybe I should aim for something else in this competition. I have minor goals to achieve like top 10 for most Red and Yellow jerseys, for example, so I'll be happy just with clearing those goals of mine. I could also pursue a top 10 finish, never been up there during Winter and January is quite an interesting month for me due to real life competitions going on.

I wont really be doing any competing so I wish those who are the best of luck. I might post in a few but not to the point that it would be up to 10 posts

I do like the veteran jersey idea. I doubt I'll wear it at all this time around but it is still a fun idea for those of us still around after all this time. I see David getting it a fair bit honestly

Also glad to see that the competition is less often. While it helped with RGR activity quite a bit I don't know if quantity is enough to beat out the quality that is sometimes produced.

7 years? That's interesting. Users need be on the site for 5 years to be classified as a veteran. Iinteresting to see this change, and I'm wondering as to why this particular difference. 
But, since it's a new type of Tour de Vizzed, I suppose I might try to be somewhat active, and see how I do, because why not?

thing1 : I originally planned for it to be for 5 years but too many active users fell within the 5 year range. It just seemed pointless if most of the active users qualified for it.

geeogree : It gives the older users another chance to get into the spotlight since most of them haven't been in ages. It also could be a good way for veteran users to get recognition for how long they've been on the site since users will then recognize that the user holding the banner has been registered for at least 7 years.

Fair enough. I hadn't really thought of it like that.

Something you and I could compete over without taking away from everyone else

I figured something like that had to be the case. 

I was looking at my profile earlier, and realized that next month will be my 7 year anniversary. XD So close to being eligible. 

I'm very happy for this one for two reasons. It's cool to finally see the TDV cut down, which was being suggested for more than a year and it's cool to see people posting again, been a long time since more than a couple posts were made in a day.

Scratch that I have changed my mind lol I will compete somewhat because of no rush at all. I look forward to getting that grey banner on my name next year. XD

Ehhhhhh now I'm very tempted to go for rainbow, this never ends well and I always quit in a few days, help me stay motivated ;;

Rainbow Zee might finally become a thing, guys.

EX Palen starts out with the lead.

Wow, what a massive start of the year! First ever time I get to wear Rainbow, just when I thought I had almost ran out of firsts in this site!!

I'm not sure how long will my name last like this. Today the competition has gone a bit fiercer in Blue and Yellow, but I should keep Rainbow at bay for a couple more days if I score as consistently as I've showed in the past. After that, it all depends on how busy will real life keep me and how the competition goes.

My main goal right now is to get an overall jersey. It surely won't be Blue because it's my weak point, and I'd prefer to get a different one than Yellow if possible. Red seems my best option, though let's not discard Green yet even though I'm not as good on that jersey. I should try to work on some secret weapons to unleash later on, should there be a need for them, but I'll leave that for the weekend.

I have a bad feeling about the gray banner... Is it meant to reflect that McDavideo7 has definitely closed its doors?

EX Palen : Well done pal to be honest the rainbow banner looks weird on your name, but that's just my opinion. Indeed this is a surprising start of the year of 2018. ^^

EX Palen : Congratulations! But don't rest so easily because I might come right behind you and steal it ;p

An overall jersey is a good goal, definitely less stress inducing than a rainbow, plus you get to focus your efforts to become a truly tough competitor :'D. Though regardless of your posting prowess getting points in Blue is pretty easy this time around .

Davideo7 : well it certainly has gotten me posting more. I've been lurking over the last few months but for some reason all the TdV announcement changes have gotten me more into posting. Whatever works right?

We'll see if anyone else steps up and competes with us.

Sanspai : Now that I have it, my only wish is that someone who hasn't yet won the competition gets to steal it from me, so you're very welcome to take it. Not going to give it off without a fight, though.

While getting points in Blue is relatively easy with this activity, I'll always be behind top posters who have an easy time pushing themselves to post. I'm more of a wordy person and a CP hunter, so it's better if I stick to my weapons and don't get involved in other things. That's why I'm not aiming for overall Blue, but it might give me the points I need for my other goals.

Eniitan : Yep, that empty space makes my name look pretty odd, but honestly I also think that Rainbow over the Yellow jersey isn't a good combination. Tomorrow I should sport it in a different way, so I'm sure it will look better.
