Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - Tara's Adventure

An Old School Game Review
Hello guys; its time for another review by me. This time I'm doing a review on one of my favorite Game Boy Color games I used to play when I was a child; Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Advanture. I'm going to discuss both the positives and the negatives of this game (In my previous reviews I didn't go into much detail on the negatives). Alright here we go.

1. Graphics- 9

Since Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Advanture is a Game Boy Color game, the graphics might seem out of date by today's standards. But back in the day when the Game Boy Color system was all you could play, the graphics overall are quite impressive. When you first start out in Greatlog (the home area you start in and the place your trying to save), Greatlog is a very detailed area. It has the only bank in the game where you can store items, the only place where you can breed monsters, and the place where you manage your pet inventory. There is a lot more in Greatlog and overall the town is the only "highly detailed" town in the entire game.

Another area where the graphics stand out is when you enter one of the games "dungeons". For example when I enter the Mine Dungeon, I get the feeling that I'm actually inside a cave that is being mined. Another example is when I enter the Haunted Forest Dungeon, I get the feeling that I'm actually inside an actual Haunted Forest. Overall the dungeons are really unqiue and designed very good.

The graphics are also pretty good during the battle bits of the game. Each magic move has a unique appearence that is quite unique and beautiful. For example when I have one member of my party use the "Fireball" spell, a stream of fire will move across the screne burning enemies. Another example is if I use the "Blaze" spell, a buff of fire will erupt from the bottom of the screne burning the oppossing monster.

There is some downsides to the graphics. Unlike Greatlog, the other towns in the game are not very detailed. Most of ... Read the rest of this Review

Another Old School Game Review

Time for another Old School Game Review!! This time I'm reviewing one of my favorite Game Boy Advanced Games. Metriod Fusion. The last Metriod Game in terms of story progression; the game offers a fresh new look to our favorite Space Pirate Hunter: Samus Aran. While the game lacks the Graphics and Boss battles send in Metriod Prime 1, Metriod Prime 2: Echoes, and Metriod Prime 3: Corruption; Metriod Fusion looks fantastic for a Game Boy Advanced Game, while still having your good old fashion Charge Beam, Missiles, and Morph Ball style gameplay. Here is a breakdown by each category.

Graphics: For a Game Boy Advanced game; Metriod Fusion looks fantastic. Despite the fact that the first level (space station) doesn't pop out as much; once you get down into each Sectors, the graphics for each Sectors look unique and individualize. When playing in Sector 1, you get the feeling like your playing a classic Metriod Game; only with much more depth in the background particulary when you see the individual monsters eyes light up, appearing as if they are stalking you in the background. When playing in Sector 2, you actually feel like your playing inside a large forest surrounded with large catepillers (later on hornets). When playing in Sector 4, you feel like your inside a large lake with individual "pools" filled with shark monsters that use these "pools" like their own breeding grounds. Later on in the game; Sector 3 feels like your playing inside a large ocean beneath those individual "pools" that truely deserve the name as the "Water level". When playing in Sector 3, you feel like your inside a large volcano with visual simmering heat that burns you if you enter the room. Later on in Sector 3 you get the sensation that your "swimming" inside a large volcano with actual lava (and sometimes that lava erupts if your not careful). While playing in Sector 5, you feel like your inside a large deep freezer and you sometimes feel like your playing a level ... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Emerald 386

Another Oldschool Game Review
Another game review, this time it is on one of my favorite Pokemon Hack games: Pokemon Emerald 386.

Summary: Imagine a game where you could get all the Pokemon you wanted without having to trade your Scyther or Onix to a friend, only for that friend to refuse to give it back. Well this is half true in case of Pokemon Emerald 386. Despite the fact that you can get the trade-required evolution pokemon (Scizor, Golem, Steelex to name a few) and harder trainer battles, Pokemon Emerald 386 is more of the same old Pokemon journey with the same old ending.

Graphics: Much like its sister games: Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald; Pokemon Emerald doesn't change much of the Graphics that you find in those games. The graphics are still pretty good for a Game Boy Advanced Pokemon Game. The Game makes use of real-time weather events (like a sandstorm when you enter the desert area and rain when you enter the forest area). The Game also attempts to make the areas appear real (like the addiction of lava when your overlooking the Volcano or the addition of seaweed when your diving in some of the dive-able areas.) Overall I give the Graphics a 9.

Sound: Sadly Pokemon Emerald 386 still uses the same generic music that you find in most of the Pokemon games. Everytime you enter the town; you hear the same "happy fun-loving" type of music. When you fight a trainer the music picks up and becomes almost a rock n roll type music (particularly when your facing the Champion or the Leader of Team Aqua or Magma.) After a while the music remains the same and can get pretty annoying after a while. I wished the Hacker had changed some of the music to make it a more unique Pokemon Hack. Overall I give it an 8.

Addictiveness: One of the most addicting Pokemon games you are ever going to play. Most if not all the Pokemon are capturable and can be leveled up to level 100. There are a lot of Pokemon moves that your Pokemon can learn and most of the optainable TMs can be bo... Read the rest of this Review

Pokemon Fuligin Review

This would be my first review on the Vizzed website so don't expect me to be a natural at this!

When you think of Pokemon you easily think of "Pikachu", "Team Rocket", and "Gotta Catch'em All!!" In the video game Pokemon Fuligin, a Pokemon Fire Red hack; almost all of those apply to this game. While it offers a unique way of telling a Pokemon Journey; it has some faults that make the game feel almost worthless, incomplete, and just downright frustrating. Now unto the review of each category of Graphics, Sound, Addictiveness, Story, Depth, and Difficulty.

Graphics- Pokemon Fuligin has some pretty good graphics compared to other pokemon games I've played in the past or recently on Vizzed. When I enter a volcano area where all the Fire pokemon are, the game actually attempts to simulate what the inside of a volcano would look like if all the lava was drained. The game uses a lot of Rain animation that I've noticed periodically when I'm either on land or sea. This gives the game of an added realism to game instead of the bland shiny, lightfilled sky that most Pokemon games have. There is however a problem with the Map of the Region as the you can sometimes never figure out where you are going. This can also be irritating when your trying to capture all the Pokemon as the Pokedex still uses the Fire Red data locations, which the hacker didn't update when making the Hack. Once you figure out the Routes and compare Pokemon of similar routes, you can eventually find where most if not all the Pokemon are.Overall I rank the Graphics a 9.

Sound- Pokemon Fuligin like the other past Pokemon games before it has the same happy, fun filled music everytime your out on those numberous Routes, Towns, and Cities. The only time the music changes is when your battling Pokemon or your in a cave. Don't expect anything epic, blood pumping music; just some more of the same old Pokemon music. Overall I rank the Sound an 8.

Addictiveness- Pokemon Fulig... Read the rest of this Review
