Contra 07-26-11 03:13 PM	As simple and fun as using a Spread Gun - a review of Contra    Ah, Contra. Contra is really the game that invented the "run around with a machine gun and blast the heck out of anything that moves" type of game. The game is a classic that anyone will recall as "fun", "addictive", or even "epic". Why is the game so great? Well, it's simple yet addictive and challenging. Anyone can see Contra and understand the concept within seconds; you play as a guy who has to shoot the bad guys and avoid getting shot himself. With that info you can play the game, but it requires a lot more to master the game. In order to master it, you'll need to keep playing it which works quite well because Contra is a game that will make you want to keep playing. It's a classic game that was owned by many hardcore gamers in the NES era.    The graphics are good replications of the arcade original. Of course they had to simplified to work with the 8-bit console, but everything is still recognizable for what it is. Bill Rizer (protagonist of the game) sprites clearly show that he is shirtless and sports a red bandanna. The enemies are seen soldiers equipped with read armor. Overall, the graphics look about as good as the arcade version on a console with 8-bit graphics. I believe the graphics deserve an 8/10.    The sounds are about as good as they could be on the NES. The music is really what's great. The theme for the jungle level is stuck in my head as I write this review. Every level has the kind of catchy music you would expect from Konami. It really gets you in the fast paced, action-packed setting of the game. The sound effects aren't much, but you understand what they are; gunshots and explosions are the two main sounds of the game. The sound merits a 9/10 due to the great music.     One of the core aspects of the game is how addictive it is. Every time you die you'll just want to play more. Why? Nintendo World Cup 05-28-11 12:00 AM	Nintendo World Cup Review Before you read the review, you must know one thing. I am NOT a fan of sports games. Nintendo World Cup is a little different though. First off, you'll note one thing. It's called [u]Nintendo[/u] World Cup but it's made by Technos Japan Corp. This was probably to buy the game a little extra popularity (Technos Japan World Cup doesn't sound nearly as good). The game is a nice little soccer game where it's completely legal to shove other players out of the way in order to get your hands, or feet, on the ball. The basic idea of the game is that you play the team captain of a world class soccer team ( you can even choose which country you want your team to be). Before you start the actual game, you pick the positions of your teammates such as who will be the goalie. Then, you set up team strategy. Do you want your players to pass the ball or dribble? Do you want them to tackle their opponents or mark them? Will you allow your teammates to shoot? Those are the kind of things you can choose. Next, the actual game begins. You control your player, the team captain. When he has the ball, he can pass it to another player or shoot for the goal. When the other team is in control of the ball, he can slide into or shove whoever possesses it. You can also command your teammates to do what you do. So they can pass,shoot,slide, and shove too. It's a simple game that delivers a great deal of entertainment. The graphics are good and clearly define everything that you see in the game. The game doesn't have too much music, but the music that it does have is good. You will also find that the game is very addictive. You can't really just play it once and you'll find that you keep coming back to it. There's no real story. You're a soccer team trying to win the world cup, the rest is up to your imagination.
