Harvest Moon: Magical Melody 01-12-15 01:12 PM |
Harvest Moon Magical Melody: The Best I've Ever Played on the Wii -MMX's Review of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody- Oh boy. Remember when I said Super Scribblenauts was the most addicting game I've ever played? Well......I forgot about Harvest Moon Magical Melody. Any Harvest Moon nerd *cough* Eirinn : *cough* will tell you, Harvest Moon is a franchise about farming (Suprise suprise.) I however am not a harvest moon nerd since this is the only game out of the series I've played. Realeased by Natsume for the Gamecube and the Wii a little bit later, harvest moon magical melody is a spectacular game. Very family friendly, and overall THEE best game I've played on the Wii. So let's dive right in into my review of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. Story (9): Harvest Moon Magical Melody doesn't have a huge expansive story like an RPG, but It's a nice relaxing break from marathoning all of Final Fantasy. The story is simple in scale. In a quaint little village called "Flower Bud Village" lived the Harvest Goddess, but one day she turned to stone because the people stopped believing in her. Which angered your rival Jamie, and now Jamie hates people in general and turns more bitter than the herbs found of the mountain. When your character (Adam is his regular name or if you choose the girl it's Amanda) moves into town you're informed of the Harvest Goddess' predicament. And it's up to you to gather the magical notes all around Flower Bud Village to make insturments and save her. Like I said. A VERY relaxing break from huge stories. And for making a light hearted story work, Harvest Moon Magical Melody gets a 9. Graphics (8): The graphics are quite nice and cheery, like Super Scribblenauts, Harvest Moon Magical Melody has it's own style and it makes it WORK. It's mostly cheery and cartoony yet can turn serious if it needs to be. But for the most part, it keeps itself bright and cheery, the only thing I DONT like is the lighting. My god the lighting. Mainly at night time it can be hard to see where the hell... Read the rest of this Review |
Super Scribblenauts 01-12-15 11:55 AM |
Super Scribblenauts. One of THE most addicting games I've ever played. -MMX's review of super scribblenauts- Hey all you vizzards (or whatever you're called) Over the last few days I've been playing a great game called Super Scribblenauts and I believe It's a spectacular game. Realeased by 5th Cell as a follow up to an earlier game "Scribblenauts" SUPER Scribblenauts innovated by quite a margin with amazing puzzles, superb replayability, and ACTUAL depth and addictiveness (After goldeneye and turok I thought the day would never come) However I have stalled you from the superb game that is Super Scibblenauts LONG ENOUGH. Lez do dis! Story (4): Wow. What a rough beginning. Super Scribblenauts doesn't have much of a story. Just go around and find starite's which open other constallations (Levels). You CAN make up your own story. But I find that at least in my opinion rather boring. For not much of a story....Super Scribblenauts starts out with a low, low 4. Graphics (7): Getting back on a high track Super Scribblenauts has good graphics that at least dont make me want to throw up. Granted it has no where near the level of good graphics as say Uncharted or Arkham Asylum but it does make sure that you can at least make out what is going on. (Unlike other games) But one thing it DOES have is it's own style. With a cartoony and innocent look only Super Scribblenauts can achieve. Normally I would give it a 5 for passable graphics, but for being unique in it's graphics and then some, Super Scribblenauts gets a 7 in the graphics instead. Sound (8): Super Scribblenauts regains it's footing for a wide array of actually real sound. Take a shotgun for instance. When you fire the shotgun it ACTUALLY sounds like a shotgun instead of a *boom* and you can even hear it reload. The music is nothing to talk about however. Which is where the sound lacks the most. But a lot of objects sound either funny or real in the game. Which in my opinion helps with immersion. For a wide and realistic/funny array o... Read the rest of this Review |
Turok - Dinosaur Hunter 09-17-14 04:23 PM |
Turok - Dinosaur Hunter: An MMX review. Wow! Another review! ERMEGERD!!!! Ok in all seriousness, it’s been a long time since I’ve made one and I want to see how it looks on this layout so this is my review of Turok - Dinosaur Hunter. Turok was made by Acclaim and Iguana Entertainment in 1997 for the good ol’ N64 and for the PC a few months later. In my opinion, Turok is THE best shooter for the N64. (Yes, even better than Goldeneye and Turok 2 IMO) But for now, let’s take a look at Turok – Dinosaur Hunter for the N64 (and PC). Story (8) : Turok even gets a Cliché story to be worth a shot! Normally I would rank it as a 5 for a cliché setup, but Turok knew. They knew it was cliché so they managed to ACTUALLY make the story worth a damn. The story is that a big bad villain of evil-y evil-ness called the Campaigner decides to rule the Lost Land using a mystical gun called the “ChronoScepter”. The ChronoScepter was a very destructive weapon in ancient times until the Lazarus Concordance shattered the ChronoScepter into 8 pieces to prevent the Lost Land becoming a pile of rubble. However the Campaigner has sent his army of everything ever all over the Lost Land and you, Joshua Fireseed (AKA Turok), must find all 8 pieces of the ChronoScepter before the Campaigner does. On top of killing the Campaigner himself to what else, save the world! Once again, Turok takes the cliché story of a big bad villain taking over the world and makes it not-so-cliché by putting its own twist on it. (Mainly the ChronoScepter and the dinos) The story does have some problems though, you would have no idea ABOUT the story unless you look it up, as there’s nothing in the game to tell you. Also it still is cliché, but not to a frustrating degree. As a result, Turok’s story gets an 8: for making a cliché setup not-so cliché... Read the rest of this Review |
GoldenEye 007 08-12-14 08:39 PM |
A shooter worth playing. ~~~~Mega Mewtwo X’s Review of Goldeneye 007~~~~ Hi guys! Would you believe I don’t like modern shooters? I don’t know…..I just don’t like them. (Maybe the cod “fanbase”.) But retro shooters? HELLZ TO THE YUS! I luv retro shooters. Once again, don’t know why. But I think it’s time to give one of my favorite retro shooters some praise. Can you guess? (Well I don’t think u need to…….it’s kinda in the title.) Yup! It’s Goldeneye 007! Goldeneye 007 was made for the N64 on August 8th, 1997 by Rare. (Aka: the n64’s MASTER) the game was made by a lot of newcomers into the game-making business but that really didn’t mean a thing in the long run. Now that that’s out of the way, it’s time to get started! *plays Mario recoding* “Let’s-a go!” Story (5): The story is too cliche. I could leave it at that and go on to the next part, but that’s not fun. The story is that one of 007’s allies, 006, (aka: Alec Trevelyan) backstabs 007 and tries to use a giant satellite called the goldeneye to blast the world to bits. 007 stops him, and the world can go on with its wars and tax raises. But once again, and let’s all say it together now, IT’S TOO. DAMN. CLICHE. One huge problem with this is that the story in every 007 is kinda the same. They don’t all have to deal with the goldeneye, but it’s usually about someone trying to blow up the world, or take over it, or something I’m too lazy to mention. And as a result, it really bogs the story down for me. So I think the story will get a 5. For being too cliche and never changing it up. Graphics (9): The graphics look impeccable for an N64 game. Everything looks polished, and then some. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes things can just get all screwed up, (infamous spaz cartridge glitch. )but everything runs at the smooth fps it s... Spy Hunter Nowhere to Run 07-02-14 05:46 PM |
A very unknown game really. A very unknown game really. Not a lot of people know this ps2 game released on September 1st , 2006. But they should if they like wrestling, because it stars THE ROCK as the main character. And yes, you can kill people in the game by the rock’s actual wrestling moves. I picked up this game at a GameStop a few years back. Playing it, it’s a great game! But I should really explain why. So, this is my review of Spyhunter: Nowhere to run. Story (7): The story is quite cliché, just a generic “take over the world plot” with Dwayne “the rock” Johnson as the main protagonist. The villains are none other them nostra. Yes, that’s the name of the villains, nostra. (Don’t even ask) They plan to use a special car called a G-6155 spy car, otherwise known as: the “interceptor” and with this car, they plan to take over the world! (of course.). You have to go through about 12 or so levels and then you get to the final level. (Quite a long level, I might add.) The problem I have is that is that it’s TOO cliché, like I stated above. And it really knocks it down by quite a margin, so story only gets a 7. Sound (9): The soundtrack for this game is awesome. The main theme is techo-ish and upbeat, but the loading music is good too. (Yes, even the loading screens have awesome music for this game.) My favorite theme though, like I said, is the main theme. However, the in-game sound effects are good too. For example, if you shoot someone in the game, it actually sounds like you shot them, and not just a simple *bang*. Also, you can hear their neck break when you use a neck breaker on them. Even times where you use environmental hazards against them, it STILL sounds very realistic. As a result, it immerses me into the game, which I quite like. Since it has an awesome soundtrack and good, realistic sounds to immerse the player, sound gets a 9. Depth (9): The depth to this game is all over the place. You have multiplayer, trailers, surv... Pokemon Stadium 07-02-14 11:57 AM |
Pokemon Stadium: My very first Pokemon game. The first Pokémon game I ever played: Pokémon Stadium for the N64 released on March 1st, 2000. I was 6, I and my family were packing everything up to move at night, and I saw my big brother playing a peculiar looking game. I asked him about it, and he told me it was Pokémon Stadium for the N64. Then he showed me how to play the game using Mewtwo, which in turn made mewtwo my favorite Pokémon of all time. However, I am getting off topic. So let’s jump in! This is my review of Pokémon Stadium for the N64, Story (1): There IS no story to this game. You just battle people. It’s not meant to have any type of story, so here’s a quick rundown of what any story any section of this game has. Stadium: Compete in 4 different cups, Prime, Poke, Petite, and Pika cup. Prime And Poke have 4 cups, while Pika and Petite have only 1. Each cup has 8 rounds, all with 3 Pokémon for the battle. You can choose your own, but the game as a whole is much better if you have a transfer pack, as you can transfer your Pokémon from Pokémon red and blue to stadium. It came with the game, but if you don’t have it or lost it, you’ll have to suffice with crappy rental charizard that has dig, fire spin, and NO FLAMETHROWER. (Even at lv 100) Gym Leader Castles: Compete in 3 on 3 battles against four people in each gym. (3 normal people, then one gym leader.) Once you beat a gym leader, you get the key to open the next door to the next gym leader. Then the elite four, then finally, your rival. Once you beat your rival, you get a free Pokémon to transfer to red and blue but it’s pointless if you don’t have the transfer pack. Pokémon Lab: Only works if you have transfer pack lets you transfer Pokémon back and forth the game, moving on. Gameboy Tower: As I didn’t have the transfer pack to this game when I got it, I have no idea what it does. Moving on. Free Battle: Allows you and your friends to battle. Transfer pack really shines here, as... Read the rest of this Review |
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine 07-02-14 10:40 AM |
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis) My first review ever was “Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine”. A quirky little puzzle game based of off “puyo puyo” and released for the Sega Genesis in 1993 and for the Sega Game Gear a year later. I looked at the Game Gear one for my first review. But in this review, I will be looking at the Genesis version of the game. So, this is my review of “Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine” for the Sega Genesis. Story (6): The story gets a 6, mostly because it makes no sense. Eggman somehow got into puyo puyo, and Plans to turn the beans into robots with his robot machine. You, the random faceless character you were destined to be, must go through all 12 of Eggman’s robot’s to eventually reach Eggman himself and save the beans of puyo puyo! Graphics (9): The graphics looks some time was put into them. They’re very colorful, and have very good framerate. Also, no sprite flickering. (at least not from my experience with the game.) However, graphics don’t matter a lot in a puzzle game IMO. So they JUST miss out on a 10. Sound (9): The soundtrack for the game misses out on a 10 as well for not having a lot of tracks. But for what they’re worth, the tracks to this game are joyful to listen too! (And they have a lot more than the game gear port, while the game gear has about 3-4 tracks, the genesis version has about half-to-a-full dozen.) Depth (4): You thought mega man 4 had no depth? Well this game makes mega man 4 look like mega man……skyrim. (bad joke, lol) You go through 13 rounds of puyo puyo matches, and that’s it! There IS multiplayer and exercise mode, but that’s about the whole cartridge. But, once again, since depth doesn’t mean much in a puzzle game, I’ll go ahead and give it a 4. Difficulty (6): The game isn’t really brutal if you’re good, but if you aren’t, the last few A.I. battles will test your sanity. You might have a HUGE combo coming up, but a refugee bean comes down i... Read the rest of this Review |
Mega Man 4 07-02-14 09:44 AM |
Mega Man 4: A very underrated title. i don’t consider myself MUCH of a mega man fan, I’ve only beat 3 games out of the whole classic series! But I think I’ve played enough of the fourth to give an honest opinion. So here we go! This is my review of mega man 4. Story (8): This is the first game in the series to have a (as I like to call them) “decoy villains” in this case, Dr. Mikhail Sergeyevich Cossack. A Russian evil scientist with a daughter named Kalinka. He and Kalinka are kidnapped by Dr. Wily, but wily decides to spare him in exchange for defeating mega man. (or captured him for the reason, idk.) So when mega man hears about Dr. Cossacks (wily’s) intentions to take over the world, mega man hurries to stop Cossack! (Wily, lol) Sound (9): OH DAYUM does the music sound good. Skull man’s being my favorite. Almost every music track in this game sounds good. With a few being about grade-b tracks. However, this IS mega man we’re talking about, so is that so unorthodox? Graphics (9): The graphics are quite well made. I personally love some of the details in the background. Like the little skulls in the walls of skull man’s stage. Or the piles of trash in dust man’s stage. my most favorite detail being the gears and the lights in Bright man’s stage. ( even if it’s difficult to see where you are going.) The only thing I hate about the graphics are when sprite flickering happens. But that’s a problem with almost every NES game, so it won’t much of a problem. Depth (6): Depth? HAH! You won’t find any type of depth here. The game can take you about 2-3 hours. And if you’re really good, about 30 minutes to an hour. To put it simply, you go beat 8 robot masters. Go to Cossack’s lair, go beat Cossack, go to WILY’S lair, and finally, go beat wily. That simple. But since you can choose the robot masters in whatever order you want, I’ll bump the depth up to a 6. Addictiveness (7): I can’t really say that this is an addi... Plants vs. Zombies 12-27-13 12:31 PM |
grgrgrgrgrBRAINSgrgrgrgrgrgr Popcap has made some fine games in their time, but never before have they made a game that can suck the hours out of your time like some time eater. Here's Mega Mewtwo X's review of Plants vs. Zombies First, let's talk about the visuals. This game looks awesome, with the exception of the ds version. the game also has no lag(unless you're using a VERY old computer). And on top of that, the game runs at a smooth 60 fps at the very least. Next, the sound. Oh man I love this game's soundtrack! From the tranquility of the fog level's music, to the catchy-ness of the roof level's music, down to the fact that every single track can drill a big hole in your head and stay there(especially the final boss's track). Third, the addictiveness. Two words, Survival. Mode. This game has a LOT of replayability. and it just goes to show, you can hunt for zen garden plants, go to the puzzle mode, co-op, versus, survival mode, and also the mini-games! And that's not even talking about the zen garden itself, and the actual story mode. Fourth comes the story. Sadly, this is the low point in this game, the game just doesn't have an immersive story. That's not saying it's bad, It's just weak. The story is that a whole lot of people got turned into zombies(insert resident evil joke here and here), and you're the only person left(with the exception of Crazy Dave). And that's it, you face the final boss, beat him and you won the game! Up next, the depth. I could just copy and paste the section about when I talked about the games addictiveness, but I'm not that kind of guy. Instead, I'll just say some stuff about the game modes. Zen garden: you find plants throughout the game and raise them here. Puzzle: It's what you would expect, It requires logic and keen thinking, but not to the point where It's frustrating. Mini-Games: 20 different mini games are the exact kind of thing to do once you've beaten story mode. Speaking of...... ... Read the rest of this Review |
Dr. Robotnik\'s Mean Bean Machine 09-28-13 12:24 PM |
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine GG Review Robotnik never gives up,does he? Anyway, Robotnik has captured the beans from Puyo Puyo and he's going to turn them into robots! It's up to you to beat Robotnik's minions and Robotnik himself and free the beans! There are 12 stages not counting Robotnik himself and the music changes when you hit stage 9,it goes from nice and slow to fast-paced and upbeat. The stages are each of Robotnik's robots from The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and they get more and more difficult with each passing stage. Most people have rage quited from the difficulty of the game, hence the difficulty being rated 9. However, despite the difficulty blasting through the roof, this game is HIGHLY addicting and ergo,it deserves a 7! The depth is horrible, with there only being 13 stages counting Dr Robotnik,so I gave depth a 2. The graphics are okay, but they're not the best,so I gave them a 7. The story (as shown up above is okay and it give you background on the game, but it's REALLY short and so,I gave it a 3. The sound doesn't cackle or anything like that, but it could sound better,so I gave it a 7 Taking into account everything I just said I'll give the game an 8.1,it's enjoyable, but not the one you would only play for the rest of your life. This is Mega Mewtwo X, and goodbye. |
