A26: J.R PAC-MAN - Review by Dean2k13

I'm back! .. Back with a review!

Considering there were 100s of Pac-Man games made by various different companies at this game's time I thought I might review another Pac-Man game and compare & contrast them. I'm going to be reviewing Jr. Pac-Man. I have chosen to review this game because I previously reviewed a different Pac-Man game, both same concepts but different. Different by standards.

Alright Let's Go!

Graphics 8/10

Considering this is an Atari 2600 game, I'm not going to take other consoles and their games into consideration. There was a major improvement in this game's graphics than the previous version of Pac-Man that I reviewed. This game's graphics have been greatly enhanced and they are, in a sense more tolerable. The previous version of Pac-Man that I reviewed, its graphics were very elder and primitive. After playing this version of Pac-Man I can definitely see improvements. Improvement in every element of the game's graphics. The orange and blue color scheme had vanished, leaving a delicate neon blue color complimented by a masculine shade of black behind. This was indeed a lot more attractive and easy on the eye. I could focus more on the other qualities of the game because of this. Although the game is clearly made up of boring and less appealing 2 D shapes, I actually found this version of Pac-Man more inviting and more satisfactory than the other version. The shading used on the ghosts were a lot more pleasing and I could clearly identify the shading of the colors used, whereas in the other version of Pac-Man I couldn't really them out.  Having said all that, I do feel that in some areas of the game's graphics, I found it very primitive and dull. In some levels the poor brown colours that were used really took away from the overall appearance of the game. The ghosts flickered again in this game which I really didn't adore. They put a slight strain on my eyes when playing the game... Read the rest of this Review
Checkered Flag

AL: Checkered Flag - Review by Dean2k13
Today I will be reviewing the a different game called 'Checkered Flag' for the Atari Lynx, I've never reviewed a game for this console so it should be fun! Enjoy!

Alright Lets Go!

Graphics 10/10

I'm not even going to lie, taking into consideration that this is an Atari game .. the graphics in this particular game are brilliant! I can't believe that I said that, but this is why I did. If you look back at my previous reviews you will see I reviewed a terrible game called 'Super Ferrari', that game was basic, there was no landscapes, no track layout, nothing. This game is practically a remake of that game with boosted graphics. There is so much attention to detail and that makes this game's graphics superb! The actual models of the vehicles - the Ferrari's. There is such an improvement on them from 'Super Ferrari', in my opinion it should have been called 'Basic Ferrari' and this game be called 'Super Ferrari' instead. The color scheme used on those vehicles were actually mind blowing-ly good, I'm not kidding. I sincerely adored the visual aids of the HUD located on the screen which shows your speed etc. Very advanced for such a basic console & game. The creators really worked on the landscapes of this game, they went from dull, poor and bland to vibrant, realistic and clear. There is clouds in this game, which were applied with a moving animation allowing them to move, of course. There is a great blue sky complimenting the clouds which is brilliant to see, it ties in with what I said about the games graphics being 'realistic'. There is an element of realism involved within this game's graphics. There was a clear visual of a map on the screen, this allows you to keep track of where your going and your next turn etc. Great use of visual aids. The poor scenery of red rocks evolved into sturdy red mountains that are easy to make out in the distance. Also, this game included an intro video which is NOT common in Atari Games, so that deserves ... Read the rest of this Review

A26: Super Ferrari - Review by Dean2k13
Haven't made a review in a while*

Today I am going to be reviewing the game 'Super Ferrari' for the Atari 2600 as I noticed this game has yet to be reviewed on this site, so I decided to review it!

Alright Let's Go!

There's only so much that you can write for an Atari 2500 Game considering they're quite basic games.

Graphics: 6/10

Considering this is an Atari 2600 game, I'm not going to be very harsh and take other consoles into consideration. The graphics in this game are very similar to that of any Atari Game, there are many vibrant colors used to make the game more appealing, however I feel that the creator of this game did not choose the appropriate color schemes for certain elements of the game. There were dark blue roads which reminded me of the ocean, and a land based 'Ferrari' car game should not be making me think that. Taking that out of context, the atmospheric (sky) colors were very effective in that they shown different times of the day - night, midday etc. The sky changes color throughout the game, which is actually pretty advanced for an Atari Game if I do say so myself. I really want to credit the model and shape of the actual F1 Ferrari, although there doesn't appear to be much effort put into it, it's very splendidly built and in a way, resembles an actual Ferrari. I sincerely didn't like the outline of the track, the 'FLICKERING' white lines. These lines flickered frequently, almost 10 times in a second. They made the game obscenely annoying to play. Very poor frame rates. I personally think that the landscape should have been improved on, no one wants to look at red blocks in the background. I would have suggested adding trees or even a stadium full of people cheering etc. This would have made made a huge impact on my perception of the graphics in this game. I would finally like to add, if the racing track (the actual road you accelerate one) had of been a different color than the land surro... Read the rest of this Review

A26: Space Invaders - Review by Dean2k13
I thought I'd write another Atari 2600 game review, I'm going to be reviewing 'Space Invaders' for the A26. I hope you enjoy this review.

Alright Lets Go!

Graphics 7/10

Considering this is an Atari 2600 game, I'm not going to be very harsh and take other consoles into consideration. The graphics in this are excellent compared to the arcade version of this game. The color scheme is a lot more advanced, and thus a lot better on the Iris (eye muscle) The aliens in this game have been worked on greatly and have been much improved from the arcade version. This is an Atari 2600 game that was made in 1980. Putting that into context, although the colors may be very basic and solid, and at times bland, they are quite advanced for that set time period. I don't particularly like how the creators used these colors, they're so random and do not relate to the game what so ever. The background randomly flashes and fluctuates from one color to another. This can be very annoying at times, especially when the aliens are the same color as the background. It became impossible to see what you were glaring at. However, It's clear what the aliens are, even though they're a very simplistic in design. The cannon, I thought it looked like a mine, I don't know why they choose that design.

The game itself had very horrible visual aids. Putting all of my points and views together, this game is an adequate game.

Sound 2/10

There is no exact music to be heard in this game at all. There are about six different sound effects in the game, which are all very basic and can quite frankly be made with a glockenspiel. To be fully honest, these tones, all of them, weren't very appealing to my senses. I didn't particularly admire the sound of the aliens' cadence. I found it very, very bothering and it was quite intolerant at times, and this sound got even more grating on the ear as it sped up and got louder. This 'Tick Tock' noise or effect culmina... A26: Spider-Man - Review by Dean2k13
Hello! I haven't done a review in a few days so I'm going to start scripting them again. I thought I'd write another Atari 2600 game review, I'm going to be reviewing 'Spider-Man' for the A26. I hope you enjoy this review.

Alright Lets Go!

Graphics 7/10

Considering this is an Atari 2600 game, I'm not going to be very harsh and take other consoles into consideration. The graphics in this game are a lot more advanced than the Pac-Man game for the Atari 2600. Although the buildings and other features are all 2D Shaped making them look flat with no texture. reminding me of a chess board, I really like the coloring and shading. The colors may be bland and really obscure but they are a lot easier on the eye than the Pac-Man color scheme. Yellow & Pink aren't that nice of colors, but they do make a serious impact on the graphics, for the better. The Spider-Man character actually is very well made, he looks sort-of identical to the movie's Spider-Man. The sky was really uneven, I don't know why they thought purple was an attractive color for the sky. But overall, the graphics are pretty decent for an Atari 2600 game.

Sound 5/10

The sound. What sound? There was hardly any sound in this game. The sounds consisted of getting the bomb, falling, or saving a hostage, and these sounds weren't even that impressive. Having said that, I actually thoroughly enjoyed the sound effect that was used when your character fell to his death, hitting the ground. The splat sound effect used was unexpectedly hilarious. Splat sounds are always funny to hear once in a while, however for me, I hear them a lot. I died so many times in this game. I thoroughly enjoyed the sound effect used when you complete the level in this game. It gives you a feeling of accomplishment, which is always exciting. Overall, the game was too quiet for me and I wasn't too impressed with the sounds and effects in the game.

Addictiveness 8/10

I'm not g... Read the rest of this Review

Pokémon Fire Red: All Legendary Pokémon Locations
Hello there! How are you? :) .. Today I'm going to be showing you how to locate and capture all of the legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Fire Red. This walkthrough will apply to that of Red / Green / Fire Red and Leaf Green too. In order to actually be able to locate these Pokémon you will need to have completed certain missions or quests in the game. You may even need to have completed the game.

I think we should start with the telepathic, MewTwo. As I said above, you will need to have completed certain missions and quests in the game to even be able to locate and capture this Pokémon. You will also need a list of items and TMs to locate these Pokémon too. I will provide a list of what you will need to capture this Pokémon.

♦ You will need the following TMs to locate this Pokémon - Surf.

♦ Sadly, you will need to have defeated the Elite Four successfully to unlock the cave where this Pokémon is situated. If you haven't then you cannot capture this Pokémon as a guy will be blocking the entrance to the cave and will not move unless you're the champion.

♦ You will need many, many Pokéballs / Ultra Balls / Great Balls / Most Balls, Any Balls! I recommend that you bring approximately 40 Ultra Balls. I have caught this Pokémon in a Pokéball before, he's not all that hard in my opinion.

♦ I recommend bringing these specific items when attempting to locate and capture this Pokémon - Hyper Potions, Max Repels, Super Potions, Max Ether, Full Heals, Ultra Balls, Pokéballs, Great Balls and Escape Ropes. These are essential.

After defeating the Elite Four and have traveled home, take out your flying Pokémon and fly to Cerulean. It doesn't matter how long it takes to get there as the cave will always be open for you to enter whenever you like. After flying to Cerulean, go north and you will see the Nugget Bridge on Route 24, cross it... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokémon Gold: Capturing Entei, Raikou and Suicine!
Hello! How are you? Today I'm going to be giving you step by step instructions on where to find the three legendary beasts, the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Gold Version for the Game Boy Color. I will also be telling you how to get them. I hope this helps you! What / Who are the three legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold? The three legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold are Suicine, Entei and Raikou. They're more commonly known as the three legendary dogs. These dogs are by far the most powerful and rare Pokémon in this game and it would be wise to catch them rather than defeat them. Defeating them will gain you plenty of EXP, but capturing them will give you pure satisfaction as they are the HARDEST and most challenging Pokémon. You'll be lucky to even encounter them within the game. These dogs will move from and to different places throughout the game. You will not be able to see them naturally roaming the region; they will be in the grass surrounding towns and cities throughout. So, there is no specific place or destination of where they will show up, it's a bit like Pokémon Sapphire / Emerald / Ruby, Lati@s is very hard to pin-point. If you fly to different locations in the region they will move to another destination and this will make it even harder for you to catch them.

Where can I find these legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold?

Considering there are no specific places or locations where these beasts will show up you are really relying on your memory and gutt-feeling. I refer to memory because if you search an area and they're not there you must remember that you've checked there, or else you're just going to be circulating the region over and over again. If you draw a quick sketch of the map on a page or something and mark off where you've been and checked it will greatly benefit and help you! Also, you can find these Pokémon an easier way but you will need to be constantly checking and referring to... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokémon Sapphire: All Legendary Pokémon Locations
I have made a step by step instruction guide for Pokémon Emerald. Emerald is almost completely identical to that of Sapphire & Ruby, so therefore the locations of these Pokémon will the exact same, except that you can't get some Pokémon in Sapphire that you can get in Emerald.

Here is the step by step guide showing you where & how to get these Pokémon! Good Luck!

Pokémon Emerald: All Legendary Pokémon Locations - Walkthrough
Hello! How are you? Today I'm going to be giving you step by step instructions on where to find ALL the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Emerald Version. I will also be telling you how to get them. I hope this helps you!

Lets start with the Guardian of Earth, Rayquaza! You will need to complete certain missions/steps in the game in order to capture or even locate this Pokémon in the game.

♣ You will need to have made this Pokémon calm the down the fight between Kyogre and Groudon in Sootopolis City. After doing this, Rayquaza will fly back to the Sky Pillar where it will now be unlocked and you can enter it and capture Rayquaza.

♣ You will need the MACH Bike to navigate through the Sky Pillar. If you haven't got this bike, don't worry. You can exchange your current bike for the MACH Bike at the bike store.

♣ You will need plenty of Hyper Potions and Ultra Balls to even stand a chance against this Pokémon.

♣ You will need the following HMs - Surf.

After having calmed Kyogre and Groudon, Rayquaza can be found at Sky Pillar. If you haven't already visited the Sky Pillar, it is located East of Pacifidlog Town. After going east for a while, take out your Town Map and Sky Pillar should be North of your location. If you're still stuck and cannot find Sky Pillar. It is located North of Route 131 on a small island. There will be a small cave located on the Island, approach it and enter it. It will be behind a few boulders.

When you find the cave and have entered it, head upwards and follow the cave to the very end, it's a very short cave. When you find the exit, go through it. After exiting the cave, go slightly North and you will see a huge tower, this is the Sky Pillar. It will now be unlocked and you can enter it, so enter it! There will be no changes in the caves structure, but the floors will be changed and have become really challenging. You must complete a...
