Pokemon Snakewood, Possibley the best hack ever
Pokémon Snakewood may be my current top favorite Rom hack of all time. Not only is the story rather intuitive but the custom sounds and the graphics are really decent. The entire thing is so addicting I find my self getting frustrated into rage quitting only to play it again five minutes later.  Don't let that make you nervous though, this game is full of rich game play and is rather entertaining.

Let's start the breakdown now !

Overall I gave this game a 9.8

I find the rich mix of custom graphics, new maps, sounds and storyline to be a very well awesome mix ! The whole zombie theme and the four horsemen of the Apocalypse along with some silly humor and references to media make it a very enjoyable experience.

Graphics: 9

The graphics are up to standard with the games in the advance series, Even the custom graphics are pretty decent. I really liked the fakemon the most. Especially the madios but don't let me spoil to much for you. This game has over 30 different fakemon some uncatchable, some are !  A few Pokémon even get a cool zombie makeover.  A few things could have been improved like a few of the fakemon sprites (The part in the trainer party thing) but over all it's not much of a problem.

Sound: 9

The sound is pretty decent, it includes a mix of Ruby/Sapphire music plus a few custom tracks and sounds. It never had a repetitive feel more of a nostalgia feel really.

Addictiveness: 10, A solid 10

I just can't stop playing this game, I put it down for a while and I end up picking it right back up again. It leaves me wanting to know more of the story and more of what happened in the game. If you're like me you won't be able to put this game down very often.

Story: 8

This story isn't like your typical Pokémon game, Fill the pokedex and beat the elite four, It's different, and that's what m... Read the rest of this Review

Return of the Golden Yoshi

The game features a Golden colored Yoshi for each level and it plays the same. Carry Mario on Yoshi's back across the level.  While it doesn't seem too difficult the farther you delve into the game the more stranger it seems to get. With it's backwards pointing arrows and incredible dungeons. This game poses quite a challenge even to the most seasoned gamers.  The game plays out like a typical side scrolling platformer just like its predecessor only with a vastly upped amount of difficulty.

Graphics: 8

The graphics are pretty decent over all. They're not any different from the original though. There are custom levels which is a bonus. There is some custom content within the graphics like the Gold colored Yoshi and the title screen is a little different.

Sound: 8

The sound is decent though it's all of the same music from the original. It doesn't make it bad or any thing and the music fits with every part of the game.  It gave a rather nostalgic feeling hearing the old music again which was a real treat while playing.  I don't think I heard the same song more than at least twice while playing though I haven't gotten very far into it yet.

Addictiveness: 4

This game is so difficult I'm not sure how much I'd want to play it again in the future. It just seems endless and when you think you've won SURPRISE, You  haven't. Though others may enjoy it a lot more than I had.  Over all I give it a 4

Depth: 10

Did I mention this game never ends ? I got pretty far on level one but it seemed endless. I don't even know if it actually ends. From what I played there was a ton to do and look at and tons of varieties of different enemies and stage obstacles.  I feel it's safe to assume every level has a huge variety of stuff and different things.

Difficulty: 8

New Retro Mario Bros

Neat Little Homebrew
When I first saw this game I wasn’t sure about playing it. Though it was rather similar to New Super Mario Bro’s i’m really glad i gave it a chance. It plays alright for what it is but I beleive if it was polished up a littler more it could be something really awesome !
As far as I know the game plays a lot more like the DS version instead of the Wii Version. The graphics are pretty cute as well and fit well with the backgrounds and over all it’s a fun little game.

Graphics 9
Graphics earns a nine because they look very nice. Everything fits together well and the sprites are nice looking while still keeping an updated look. They don’t look messy or any thing which is very good ! Everything looks natural. I would have given it a full 10 but I ran into some glitches here and there that seemed to be graphical related.
Over all most of the over world appears to be custom work including the sprites and it’s always lovely to see something fresh and new like that !

Sound 10
I adored the music it was like a retro version of the New Super Mario Bros music, and it never got annoying. I enjoyed hearing each track for each level and it was really fun to see what song would be next. The music is very cheery and delightful to listen to.

Addictiveness 7
The game can be a little difficult to play but it’s not terrible. It does have me wanting to play even more than the short run I had played so that’s always a plus ! I think a lot of people will probably enjoy this game. I have a feeling this is going to be a game i'll be playing a lot as well !?

Story 6
The Intro was rather short reminiscent to the older games. It hs the normal story that most of the games IE, Save the princess and defeat the bad guy type of thing. ?It's pretty straightforward. You move from level to level beating bad guys until you get to the flag.?

Depth 7
The levels aren’t very lo... Read the rest of this Review
Donkey Kong Country

A True Classic
Donkey Kong Country is part of a legendary trilogy of games for the SNES. Donkey Kong Country is a typical platformer style game with 36-bit graphics, featuring pre rendered sprites with a 3D effect.

DKC features a tag team system, featuring Diddy Kong and Donkey Kong as the main protagonists. Both kongs have their own special abilities and the same basic moves.

Now on with the review !

The graphics get a solid 10 just for the fact they look so well rendered. They’re quite different from other games compared to the Mario series. They have a more 3D rendered look and they just look gorgeous. The game takes full advantage of what the SNES has to offer.

The sound also gets a solid 10. Donkey Kong Country has an impressive musical score and many of the songs are quite catchy. Each level features it’s own music with some themes repeating (Under Water Themes, Boss Battles Etc) I never get tired of hearing the music, and it’s not overly repetitive.

Addictiveness gets an 8. This game can be a little difficult but I always find myself coming back for more all of the time. Even if I do get tired of it I always get a good hankering to play it again.

The Story gets an 8, The story starts out with DK discovering that his banana hoard has been stolen by the kremlins and his buddy, Diddy Kong, Has been kidnapped and stuffed into a barrel. He and Diddy must go on an adventure across the island to recover the bananas and defeat the kremlins along the way. Overall this story is pretty simple and straightforward yet enjoyable.

Depth gets an 8. There are many levels and hubs within this game and they never disappoint ! There are many things to do, Collect Bananas, Animal Buddy mini games, and collecting Kong letters for extra lives. Overall there is a total of 40 levels in the game which will provide you endless hours of frustrating yet exciting entertainment.

Difficulty gets a 7 just for ... Read the rest of this Review
