Pokemon Yellow 05-04-12 08:25 PM |
Pokemon Yellow The Pokemon rage has dominated the games market by using the same urge to collect technique that powered other rages like Magic cards and Pogs. Unlike the previous two, Pokemon has managed to sustain its popularity through toys, cards, a feature-length movie and a top-rated cartoon. It's this specific cartoon that Pokemon yellow is based on. if you're already familiar with the red & blue versions, the first thing you will have noticed in yellow is that you begin with Pikachu as your starting pokémon, just like in the cartoon, and he follows you around everywhere. The best thing about this is that you can check his attitude from time to time and he ACTUALLY SAYS HIS NAME! Even though there's a bit of static, the fact that you can create sound like this on a gameboy is a remarkable achievement! Even more surprising is that there are at least twenty different ways Pikachu can say his name whether he's happy, sad, scared, confused, poisoned, etc. etc.Another difference to this version is that all the Pokemon have been re-drawn to look exactly like they did in the cartoon and the pokédex data has been changed. Jessie and James also make a guest appearence a few times (too few in fact) and recite their horribly corny motto as they attack you with Ekans/Arbok, Koffing/Weezing, and Meowth. Other nice touches are that Brock and Misty have also been re-drawn too look like the cartoon and the other gym leaders have different pokémon. Also, the yellow version sports an excellent "Surfing Pikachu" mini-game which can only be reached if you own Pokemon Stadium (or a Gameshark). The unknown dungeon has been redesigned and the Pokemon present in this version are different from red & ... Read the rest of this Review |
Super Smash Bros. 05-04-12 07:49 PM |
Super Smash Bros. This is a great game. It's unique and if I could, I'd give it a eleventh star. It's a fighting game that features characters from different Nintendo games from past to present. They include....Link (from the Zelda Series), Kirby (from Kirby's Dreamland), Samus (from Meteoroid and Super Meteoroid), Mario (from all the Mario games), Yoshi (from Yoshi's Story), Fox McCloud (from Star-fox and Star-fox 64), Donkey Kong, (from the Donkey Kong Country series), Pikachu, (from the Pokemon games), and four other "secret" characters that can be "unlocked" from the game by completing certain Single player tasks. One of the best things about this game is that each characters' fighting moves and techniques is somewhat based on Items or abilities that the characters had in previous games. For example, Link has his hook-shot, boomerang, bombs, and of course, his sword; and Samus has her charge shot. In the One-player mode in this game, You can choose your character, computer skill level, and your life stock to make the series of fights as challenging as you want. I'll be honest with you.....don't buy this game for just its one player mode. It's best feature is its multi-player mode. This is probably one of (if not) the best multi-player games for the N64! Multi-player mode puts together strategy, skill, and common sense all at once. It's multi-player mode NEVER seems to get old, as I have enjoyed it for well over a year now, and I'm still trying to master each character! In this aspect, it's different from other fighting games for the 64. It's almost as good as Star-Fox 64(my favorite N64 game) It dose not fell like a "kiddy" or 'Childish" game. It feels different then the other Super Smash Bros. games its pretty much the same with every game company they make the 1st one the best and all th... Read the rest of this Review |
