Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto 5 - Truly Grand
Where to begin with this game. So much to say about it. I have this game for both PS3 and Xbox360 but since there was not a review in Xbox 360 yet I decided to post it here. This is also one of the few games I bought at full price when it was released. Yes guys, its that good.

This GTA is like no other before it. All the other games in this franchise you only play one main character. In this instalment of GTA you have three to deal with. Now when I first heard this I definitely was sceptical. Hoping that they did a really good job with it but as always preparing for the absolute worst. Well I was very wrong. They did an AMAZING job making these three characters, Franklin, Michael and Trevor’s stories not only each strong in their own but as well perfectly intertwined. Lets talk about these guys for a second.

First you should know that each player has eight skills they can max out, just like in GTA: San Andreas. All these skills are the same for each character, but each have their own specialties that are almost maxed out when you start. These will determine how you perform while using these skills. For example shooting, the higher your skill the better and more precise you shoot and so on. The eight skills are:

Shooting - This you level up doing shooting range challenges at Ammunation, the local gun store.

Stamina - This determines how far you can run, cycle or swim at full speed without running out of stamina before it depletes your health. This you can level up by either running or swimming. Simple enough

Strength - This is your power and resistance with and to damage respectfully. This mostly is for melee damage although it will improve agility as well. Level this up by doing A LOT of fist fighting.

Driving - Obviously this determines how you’re handling is in your car. Cars also having their own way they handle. Again I will state the obvious that you level this up by driving which is eas... Read the rest of this Review
Dead Island

Dead Island - A zombie take over
This game was referred to me by a fellow gamer friend of mine. He told me how amazing it was so I decided I had to go out and buy it right away. It was very worth it for the price it is. At the time of the release of this game and still even now there is a HUGE zombie hype right now. And there are a lot of zombie games out there, so of course I thought this one would be pretty generic. What caught me about this game is yes, the story has been done and yes zombies have been done. But never combined like the creators have in this game. It is a two part game so to complete the story you must also buy the game "Dead Island: Riptide". This game is set on the island of Banoi. When you start you get your choice between four different characters. Each of which have their own different weapon specialty's and special attacks called "Fury" or "Rage". As well they have their own unique back story's that end up bringing them together for the fight of their life. No matter what character you choose the story will be the same. The only thing that will slightly change is the dialog but that not even by much.

Purna (Support) (my weapon of choice) - A former Australian police officer who lost her career due to a faulty trial tries to start a new life as a personal body guard to the VIPs that travel to dangerous places all over the world. I'm sure this isn't what her clients had in mind though. Her weapon specialty of course is firearms. With her "fury" attack being a revolver with unlimited ammo. Of course for the full affect this must be activated and upgraded as you level up during your game play.

Xian Mei (Assassin) - A desk clerk at the Royal Palms Resort on the island. Her father was an cop killed in the line of duty. And she became a spy for the Chinese government. Its not clear if that is why she is here on the island. Her weapon specialty is blade weapons. This is very fun as there are some really cool blade weapons in this game. Her "Fury" attack is a s... Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 - Amazing
I just started playing this game a few months ago. Well after it had been released. I didn't know if it was going to be a good game or not. WELL let me tell you. This game is absolutely amazing. If you like games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the Assassins Creed series and the Uncharted series you will love this game. This is a game for adults only though. Lots of swearing and adult content and subject matter.

This game is a first person shooter with a lot of role playing game elements such as side quests, gathering collectables as well as hunting and skinning animals to upgrade your gear. To make your life easier in this game I suggest starting on hunting early in the game. As you level up you also upgrade your skills and as you do that you get a pretty awesome "tatau" on your characters arm. Some of the upgrades how ever you can only unlock by completing certain things. An example of this would be "attack 5 enemies using a certain previously unlocked skill." HEED MY WARNING some of these are miscible and getting the trophy or achievement regarding completing the tatau will be rendered impossible without restarting the game. And this is a long game, you do not want to have to do that as I now have to.

Graphics - 9
I gave this a 9 because the graphics really are amazing. So much time was put into this game and the detail of it. I imagine the PS3 version is even more crisp. This game is set on an island and they made sure to put the time and effort into this games graphics to make you believe it is real.

Sound - 9
The score in this game is amazing. Lots of diversity. Some of the songs in this game are even on my Ipod. When you are driving around in a car you get local island music. during quests you will be shocked to hear some of the songs that have been thrown in. I don't want to spoil it all but there is some Skrillex, Die Antwood and MIA. Every song that you hear works perfectly with what is going on at that point in ti... Read the rest of this Review
Plants vs. Zombies

There are Zombies on Your Lawn
This game can consume hours of your life and turn you into a zombie. In each different version (PS3, XBOX360, PC, DS, iPhone) there are different mini games and achievements to be gotten but other then that they are all pretty much the same. I am writing this in the PS3 section because that's what I play it on the most.
In this game you must fend off the hoards of zombies using the plant life that grows in your back yard, WARNING: SHOULD A ZOMBIE ATTACK ACTUALLY HAPPEN PLEASE DO NOT THINK THAT THROWING YOUR POTTED PLANTS AT THEM WILL KILL THEM!!! You start by fending them off in your front yard, back yard (which has a pool) and the roof. You do this in the day then the night and eventually in the fog.

Overall - This is a game that you definitely get your moneys worth out of. There are many different things to do in the game other then the main adventure. It is also a good way to warm up your gaming hands for a big night of online fun. As well calm you down after if you do bad. Or just simply a great game to pass the time or play with friends if you can't think of anything else to do. I have yet to find a person who didn't find this game fun. Even my 5 year old is obsessed with it.

Graphics - The plants look cool, the zombies look awesome. It is a very basic game but I think they put into the graphics what they needed to. They didn't cheap out on them at all. The graphics are cartoon, but they did put a lot of detail where detail was needed.

Sound - Although after a while I did have to turn the sound off (I heard it every where I went) It has some very catchy tunes and the best song they saved for the end of the game. Worth playing through just to see it, I mean you know if we didn't have youtube to go cheat and look at it.

Story - Very basic story line. Kill zombies or they will eat your brains. But you have Crazy Dave to remind you that you are actually working towards killing the head zombie and stop these hoards from att... Read the rest of this Review
Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past

A Link To The Past
This was one of the first games I was ever introduced to that I actually played. It was very hard way back then. Now I can beat it in one sit through. What I love about the game is there was so much to do apart from just the story. It would take hours and hours to find all the secret rooms and items. This was back before Internet so you had to do all that grinding on your own. I remember there was one room that the person who showed me the game (much older then I) who loved the game religiously and he found a room but couldn't figure out how to get into it. When I was a little older and decided to play through the game again I accidentally figured out a way to get in that room. So it was awesome even years later to find new things in the game.

Young boy Link probably should have just stayed in bed that one stormy night, but he didn't. After being woken by a telepathic from the princess (shocking. In trouble princess) telling him she needs his help. His uncle tells Link to stay here but of course Link doesn't listen. When Link finds his way in to Hyrule Castle he finds his uncle seriously wounded. Link takes his uncles sword and shield and continues on his mission to save the princess.

Overall:
Amazing game. It really set a standard for how Zelda games would be from here on out. The weren't messing around when they made this game. When the game came out a lot of people thought that after collecting the three pendants and getting back to the castle that it would be the end of game, but in fact the game had just begun.

Graphics:
For this era the graphics were very basic but they were able to put a lot of detail in to the game. I think that they went above and beyond on this one. They wanted to make this one perfect and it really worked out for them.

Sound:
At times the melodies could be very mind numbing. After time I would play this game listening to my own music or nothing at all. But the melodies in the game were rea... Read the rest of this Review
