This game has fairly good graphics. Not the best but still really good. The people are mostly realistic but in an animated way. The creatures you fight with and against are well designed. The scenery is really well made spanning from volcanic areas, to jungles, to ice cover landscapes and my personal favorite the aurora area. Plus you travel to each of the areas via a spacecraft so there is space scenery as well. All the areas are amazing. And with each new area comes new creature to find and fight.

I really like the sound track. Even having not heard it a while and listening as I write this it is all coming back so easily. Some favorites of mine include the title screen which I would often wait till the song was done to advance to the next screen. Aldous's theme is good too. So mysterious. Daichi Grasslands is good but I'm biased here as it was the first theme I heard and it is my favorite area, the aurora area. Naniro Planetary Patrol Headquarters is great. Makes it sound really important and grand. Genshi Forest is a good theme. Gives the wild feel of the jungle. Nessa Desert is fun too. Vast sounding music that conveys the overwhelming awesomeness of the area. And then the Nessa Ruins are close behind. Mysterious and winding, it is a maze and the music sums it up perfectly. And you go here multiple times. And one more the one that tops them all. The Under Attack theme. Grand and fast paced it really gets you ready for a tough fight. I could continue naming forever but I will leave it at this...

Ok, I will admit I no longer have this game. I traded it in a while back. I love the game and will play most of it over and over. But honestly the final boss it a bit of a turn off for me now. I have beaten it before but it is extremely annoying. It is not really strong yet it can crush you so easily. It hardly attacks if you keep your distance. But it can render most things ineffective.
Story: 9
The story is really well done. You play as a Naniro Planetary Patrol Officer. Your goal defeat the Krawl! Alien invaders that for the most part are weirdly shaped things that travel around in black tornadoes. The tornadoes either stand still or chase you to start a battle. You are given weapons but on their own they are useless. You need the help of Spectrobes, beings of light that can defeat the Krawl. Problem is they are extinct and to get them you have to dig them up and awaken them from fossils. Plus unearth minerals to make them grow and evolve. It's a race against time to save the solar system from the planet devouring Krawl. Can you save the day?
Depth: 9
There is so much to collect. The huge collection of Spectrobes to unearth. Then the color variants if you really want to get everything. The fact that most Spectrobes have multiple forms. Child Form, Adult Form, Evolved form. Then the few that are Ultimate Forms which do not evolve from or to any other Spectrobe. You get one automatically in the story mode the others have to be won through grueling multi-battle vortexes. Then there is the 30 some odd cubes that are to be found. They give information about Spectrobes and unlock various features of the game like wireless play, color variants, the card reader, and armor to place on the spectrobes and several other things. Funny thing is they are all named after the Greek letters. Hey I learned the alphabet! Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta.... Anyway, with so many things to collect it is hard to 100% everything.

The game overall is not too hard. But the final boss crosses a line that should never happen... The invincible barrier... Yeah I said it... It is basically impossible once he puts it up. Bet you are wondering how you win then huh? Well the only way to win is through a specific order of commands. If you do one too many or in the wrong order...BARRIER! And the worst part? The fact that you basically have to let it kill you cause it doesn't just end the battle. Very annoying and the reason I got rid of the game. Love the game. But no... just no...
Overall: 9
I love this series. There are at least two others after this one that mostly improve upon the success of this one while eliminating the majorly annoying barrier issue. The story is built well and the massive amounts of things to collect plus the amazing amount of great music make me rate this higher than otherwise. Plus it is possible to beat but you have to be overly careful in the final fight. I'm sure the combo is out there somewhere. So if you go for this game make sure to find it first so you don't have to lose 100 times before finding it. That's just my advice though.
Anyway that's all guys! And as always thanks for reading and have fun if you try this one or the other two.
