Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns Featured Review

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns Review by: deggle - 9.4/10

Harvist Moooon
Hello everyone i'm finally back with another review this took awile due to not knowing what to review soo enjoy~.
Alright this game was realeased on June 29, 2012 for the DS and 3ds as another installment to our favourite game series known as Harvest Moon. This game was a bit different to the others as you could now choose male or female, being able to change clothes, and pick one out of the two towns to reside in you can move later on in the game but the first one you choose to live in does matter. The towns are Bluebell and Konohana if you want to take care of lot's of livestock and not much gardening go for bluebell if you want tons of room to garden lot's of plants but not much room for many animals go for Konohana. Now let's move on with the review.
                                                                                       Graphics 9
The graphics were very great to look at and here is why. When you walk into the mountain trail it wasn't very generic looking
as you could see beautiful flowers blooming or the different sized fish swimming in the ponds and the animals playing the town's
graphics are exactly what you think they would be Bluebell the farming town with animals and friendly farmers to give you tips
on how to take care of animals. Konohana blooming with flower and exotic fruit trees and great scientists and doctors to help
you. When you talked to someone you got to have a half body picture of them so you could see what they are feeling and what
not and I felt that was a HUGE upgrade from previous games and I don't know why but I do enjoy seeing dirt clouds when
you run around. *I literially look for those*
                                                                                      BADSIES
No more sugar coating! Okay luckily there wasn't anything majorly wrong with this section the only thing I could notice about
the graphics was the staticky figures all the characters had I mean don't get me wrong all the character sprites were awesomely
designed but the static just was one slip up.
                                                                                   Sound/Music 10
I loved the music in this game sooo much the music for the towns matched their personalities spot on Bluebell with it's
European theme and Konohana with it's Asian like theme. Almost every house/shop had a different theme depending on what it
is. Of course your farm get's it own awesome song that's pretty catchy. *My personal faouvirte song is Konohana's theme*
You could hear basically everything from the Waterfall to the birds chirping and splashing in the pond.
                                                                                      Bad things:
Sadly voices are still a nothing but everything made up for it another thing that actually was very odd to me was... You could
only hear your own footsteps it was like really strange I mean is everyone a ghost and you are just delusional? Or can they float
other than that there was nothing wrong.
                                                                                 Addictiveness 8:
Yuy this game was very interesting and fun to play as it encourages you to do many things, and the fun of milking a cow or
shearing an alpaca or sheep or tearing weeds and watering the plants the small things that made this fun and addicting. Later in
the game you can go multiplayer and make a huge garden for you and friends to trade rare fruits and veggies which was a fun
thing to do and made good money. To me the most fun thing to do was fishing and scavenging around for rare materials. Even
though it took some time it was still a good day. The NPCs didn't get boring to talk too as well so I looked forward to having
conversations with them every day. They even did something very different like add a Bulletin board where you could do little
side-quest like things for the Villagers of both towns and get Friendship points while doing so I really liked this as it made the
game more fun.
                                                                                     Bad things:
Alright yeah you are having a grand time playing this game until OH NO you finally start to lose interest after your fifth
playthrough *For me anyway* It's starts to get somewhat old and boring you lose drive to take care of animals or garden and
just sleep every day *exactly what I did* And you start to drift off the game. I feel the could have added a bit more to this
game to make it more addicting for me like add some Mini-Games besides cooking contests. Maybe horse racing or flying
contests.
                                                                                    Sotry 9:
Every game needs a good sotry * Yes sotry deal with it* This game had a pretty unique one you start off riding on your horse
with a large package and you accidently spook some rabbits and an accident occurs you wake up to see the Mayors of both
towns and they find out you are here to live in the town you choose but something seems amiss they are fighting and I mean
they at eachother's throats so once you choose you disappoint the other of course. Later the HG*HarvestGoddess* Tells you
the legened about the two towns which I won't go into detail but they got into a huge fight and made HG made the end. So
now you are they to help them make up and help your town and farm by doing so.
                                                                                       Issues:
This story was very new to me and there wasn't really anything that was bugging me except for the "Fueding Towns Cliche"
that's prety much it other than that the story was well done.
                                                                                Difficulty 9:
An actual hard Harvest Moon game omg! This game was surprisingly hard to make money and everthing else the only easy
thing about this game was talking to the NPCs even the quests were hard to complete most difficult thing in this game was
making the £ the dough the main thing to survival in this game that and food. Money was so hard to make it took me 5yrs Ign
to make enough money to support and have children cause it was that hard to make. And everytime a specific quest to
progress in the story the materials you need to gather are almost always scarce of course they are. Another thing was time!
Time passed by so quickly you couldn't exactly do a lot before it was time to sleep. That is why this is a 9 this game likes to
make you rage. Oh yeah before i'm done making friends with villagers or Bachelors/Bacherlorettes wasn't too bad but still takes about 1IGY*In-Game-Year* To make that person at least like you
                                                                                      Hate-Mail:
The only thing I have to say is that they could have made this game a tad easier like have the clock go a bit slower so you
could at least get a good amount of work completed and that Materials were also easier to find and get. And they could have made the Friendship and Love points easier to make.

                                                                                         Depth 9:
I did put some of the depth of this game in the other sections and i'm sure you can see that so I will just be on this a bit. Okay as I have said this game does offer you a ton of things to complete or do like the side quest or main story progression quests. Plus the multiplayer option to garden with players all over the world or just friends or try to win in the cooking contest. So this game isn't a total drag as it wants you to have fun the total amount of hours that at least should be put in here is about 80+ to completely beat it.

Camera work: 3 *the scores of camera to me in 1-4
Okay so the camera work was done pretty well it didn't go into any annoying angles or totally not look at you it stood very focused only on you unless it was an event and scrolled to something important so they programmed very well. I also liked how they made it so you couldn't toggle it or anything.

                                                                                      Final Verdict:
So there is a lot of good points to this great game as well as it's just wanna smash it points. As there will always be flaws you can always see the good side and love the game as I have hopefully shown you too. Well I hope you have enjoyed this review and I wish you a good bye

Let's do some math homework: 9+10+9+9+9+9+3/6=9.4 = You should probably play this game or you are missing out.
