L.A. Noire Review by: XxEzraxX - 9.4/10

L.A. Noire Review
Hello review readers and friends a like, I know it's been a long time since I've written a review but that is going to be changing as of today. Before I jump into it, I would like to send a huge apology to everyone who has read and followed my reviews I should have been on more to do these and not have gotten so far behind but I love you guys and hope you'll continue to read what I review. Okay so L.A. Noire is quite a fascinating game about what detective work was like in 1950's. And I want to go on record and say that Rockstar games did a wonderful job with how detailed and how far they took the idea.

Overall I rate this game at 9.4, I loved the game it's long but not ridiculously long as to spending your whole natural life trying to reach the end. However, there were a few things within the game that have caused me to put it down for a little while but nothing to game breaking or over the top annoying. I would say it would mostly be missions involving high speed chases. The graphics are great, a solid 9 if I do say so myself. The characters move pretty realistically and talking scenes matched up very well with the lip movement of the character speaking.

Which brings me to the sounds, I rated the sounds at a 10. I personally believe without a doubt that the city noises really brought this game to life, it made the whole experience feel way more realistic and enjoyable. Even the police sirens sounded great, even though they got annoying fast. And the music, although simple is really quite nice to listen to I liked the music quite a bit and even got one of the tracks stuck in my head a few times.

Addictiveness, this is probably one of my favorite parts aside from story to review but I digress. I rated this game an 8 for addictiveness, when I first bought the game I couldn't put it down I was absolutely hooked. As I mentioned before the only times I really put the game down was when it got a little to challenging for me, and I don't know about you guys but when I play the same part of a game like fifty times in a row I tend to get a little bit ragey.

Now it's story time, okay so L.A. Noire does kind of lack in the story department. I rated the story a 6, and that is generous. They tried to implement a story in there but it's nothing to in-depth. You are a detective and war hero, you have a wife, and if I remember correctly a child as well but you don't see him/her, your name is detective Phelps and you solve murder cases. See pretty simple, right? But they did try, by showing you all the different levels of detective that he becomes from homicide to arson. Now here is a little personal theory of mine, but I think that the game would have been made a lot more interesting story wise if they would have implemented more of the Black Dahlia murder case in it. You see Phelps is somewhat interested in the Dahlia murderer and some of his cases turn out to be very similar and he tends to think he is on top of whomever killed Elizabeth Short (the Black Dahlia), he even gets clues from the murderer...but that's it, after a certain point in the game that is all gone. Which was kind of a bummer for me but did not at all ruin the game.

As for depth, no doubt I rated this game a 10. Not only does it have some length to it, but it shows you all of the different things an actual detective goes through on a daily basis such as high speed car chases, interrogations, investigating crime scenes you name it. Needless to say that it was mostly the gameplay that had me hooked. Now difficulty, I had to rate a 9 and here is why. You remember those high speed chases I mentioned? Yeah, well they start off pretty easy but once you really get into the bulk of the city they become rather difficult and not only are those hard but sometimes even tailing a person can be a challenge and you run into them quite often whether it be the main case you're working on or a side mission that you ran into on the way. So if you love a good challenge this may just be your game, or maybe I suck at it either way those were kind of hard for me.

All in all L.A. Noire, although lacking story is a great game and one of my personal favorites on the 360. I highly recommend it to anyone who really enjoys things about detectives or anyone who even has a slight interest in the Black Dahlia murder case. It has great gameplay, sounds and graphics. Not to mention that it runs pretty smoothly, I don't really remember running into a bug or anything like that. Thank you all for reading this coming back review I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you all forgive me for being away for so long again I am really sorry about that. Well, until next review see you guys.
