Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure Box Description

An NES game based on these two bodacious dudes of movie fame? Excellent!!! History has been all screwed up and only the San Dimas Duo can set things straight. Awesome responsibility, man! Ride the Power Phone Booth to six different worlds. Galactic, man! Search for Famous Historical Dudes through space and time. Most cosmic! Talk with the likes of Julius Caesar (he invented Caesar Salad) and Napoleon (the short, dead dude). Send them back in time or you'll miss the Wyld Stallyns concert - starring you! Heavy! It's a bodacious, mind-boggling, role-playing adventure. And your only chance to save the world and earn the respect you deserve. No way - yes way! A most excellent role-playing adventure!

Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure Review by: RedHotToddy - 3.2/10

LJN strikes back...
Who remembers the movie bill and Ted's excellent adventure? I know everyone has at least seen that movie once, because they decided to make a game out of it! I mean bill and Ted and Nintendo coming together, You could say it is a match made in heaven, But wait till you see what we actually got.

Story-5/10
You best believe it, the story in this game doesn't even have to do anything with the movie at all! I mean think of it, In the movie Bill and Ted are failing their history class, and they must free the ancient ancestors so they can bring them in for their project, but here what we got is a whole different story! In this game, the story is that these mischeivious time rebels and kidnapped Socrates, Billy the kid, and all those other guys, and now It is up to bill and Ted to get them back to prevent time from being altered, now the time rebels are never mentioned again or seen anywhere else in the game! They are just there for your imagination! Anyways, lets get to the gameplay.

Gameplay-5/10
In this isometric adventure, you control Bill and Ted, as you adventure through several periods of time as you explore the place in order to free the historical legends, Now this may seem good on paper, but trying to actually make any progress at all in a level is mind-numbingly frustrating! First you must look in this telephone book in order to contact the legend, then you must play this complicated little minigame where these balls are flying everywhere and you must use this paddle in order to make them hit all the numbers in the correct order, each time you miss, you lose some of your coins, lose them all and it is over. Anyways, back to controlling bill and Ted, It is a mess, you can only move on the white spaces on the map! So if you jump into the green grass, bill and Ted will be stunned for a while and you have to struggle to get them back up, I know, it is indeed hard, and there are also guards outside trying to stop you, if you are caught, you are sent to the dungeon and you have to start everything all over again, You know what, I can't take this anymore, on to the graphics!

Graphics-7/10
The graphics in this game aren't half bad to be honest! The developers decided to make the game isometric Ala kingdom hearts chain of memories, and they didn't do bad! But the problem is that bill and Ted are limited to where they can walk on, they can only walk on the white ground, if they jump into the grass, then they are stunned and must struggle to get back up. In my honest opinion this game looks way better then all other movie games I have played on the NES so far, and that is for the best.

Sound-5/10
Ah, as for the sound in this game, It is quite forgettable to say the least, You are greeted with generic stock music at the title screen, And as for the actual game soundtrack, It can get quite repetitive at times, actually so repetitive that you'll completely forget that there is music playing! Another thing, at certain times the music will play just fine, and then It just randomly stops! Come on LJN, If you can program the soundtrack in back to the future to loop for about the entire game, you can do it with this game as well! The sound effects are limited, You get 2 of them to be exact, One for when you jump, and one for when you fall on your butt. Anyways, let's continue.

Addictiveness-4/10
This game just really doesn't offer much when It comes to fun! It is just the same thing over and over again! You go through the book, you play that repetitive phone booth game, you explore the level, you finally rescue the historical legend, rinse and repeat, there is nothing wrong with repetition if It is done right!

Depth-4/10
To be perfectly honest, this game is really short and you can get through it in most likely an hour or so, I remembered beating this game for the first time and being disgusted by the ending, I mean all that hard work just for one little screenshot? Count me out. And after that, you are just sent back to the title screen, Wow, Well it is LJN, so what to expect?

Difficulty-8/10
The difficulty of this game is beyond reason, I remember I could never ever get past the first level of this game because everything was too darn complicated! I know, this game will make you scream, and I tell you SCREAM in frustration at how hard it is! I mean, seriously? I like a challenge, but this is just too much!

Overall-3.2/10
When you see that rainbow stamp of death on any of your NES games, you know the drill, just avoid it all costs! And that goes with this game as well! Just avoid it like the plague! Why LJN? Why must you guys create all of these terrible games for the NES! You guys are just destroying the shelves of Toys'r'us, walmart, target, and Fry's with these games! Just stop! Anyways, this has been RedHotToddy, And I am out!
