Five Nights at Freddy's 3 Review by: Lexatom - 9.3/10

Five Nights at Freddy's 3 Review
In August 2014, a developer by the name of Scott Cawthon released a new horror game titled Five Nights at Freddy's. It quickly grew popular around the internet, and was an instant hit. Then, about 3 months later, he released the so called "sequel", Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Again, it became an instant hit. It wasn't too long before he released a teaser for the true sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's. He released the trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's 3 in February 2015, and released the game on March 2, 2015. And now, here I am, reviewing it. So, without further ado, let's get started.

Graphics - 10
In Five Nights at Freddy's and Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Scott Cawthon used a 2D view with effects to make it look 3D. However, in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, it's completely done in 3D. This is a HUGE step up for the graphics. Just look at the detail on Springtrap! This, in my opinion, has got to be the best graphics in a Five Nights at Freddy' game. However, what does annoy me, is the constant static on the camera. I may just be nitpicking, but it really annoys me.

Sound - 10
Like the past 2 Five Nights at Freddy's, this game is highly based around sound. You absolutely have to listen closely, or you are going to have a bad time. The vents were in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, and they make a return in this game. You must listen closely to when Springtrap goes through the vents. When he does, you must quickly seal the vents before he gets through. Be careful though, because he moves quickly. The ambience in this game also creeps you out. If someone or something is near you, the ambience starts playing in the background, and that adds to the creepiness factor. The jumpscare noise has been upgraded again, too. In my opinion, it's the scariest jumpscare noise out of all of the games. It almost gets me every time!

Addictiveness - 9
I keep finding myself coming back to this game to beat the night I'm currently stuck on. Like the past games, there are 5 nights, and an extra hard 6th night. However, unlike the past games, there is no custom night, or 7th night. I spent most of my time on Night 5, until I just beat it today. Even if you beat the 6th night, there is also a good ending and a bad ending. Once you beat the 5th night, you most likely already got the bad ending. I'm not going to spoil how to get the good ending, but let me warn you, it's kind of difficult.

Story - 10
The story is kind of the main focus of the Five Nights at Freddy's series. The story of the entire series is filled with mysteries that we still can't solve, even with 3 games out. The main story of Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is as follows: "Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of Fazbears Fright: The Horror Attraction are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin. At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made....the attraction now had one animatronic."

Depth - 8
Again, like the past Five Nights at Freddy's games, this game only has 6 nights, so don't expect much depth to it. However, this game does add more depth into it than the other games. For instance, once you complete night 5, you unlock the 6th night and an extras menu, where you can browse the animatronics, their jumpscares, the minigames, and even unlock some cheats! Keep in mind, these cheats are optional to use.

Difficulty - 9
Like I said before, I spent most of my time on the 5th night. Due to there being only one animatronic who can actually KILL you, Scott made this game extra harder than the last 2. To add on to the difficulty, it's kind of hard to understand how to defend yourself from Springtrap. The new phone guy (which I will call phone dude) doesn't really help you that much. He doesn't really explain it all that well. But, once you get far enough into the game, you'll eventually get used to it.

Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is my favorite game in the entire series. However, it does have its flaws. For one thing, people have been complaining that the jumpscares aren't that scary. So, I reply, have you played in complete darkness with the volume all the way up? That's how I play all the games, and they terrify me. So, to end this review, I give this game an overall rating of...

Overall - 9.6/10

Thanks for reading this review, I really appreciate it! I'd appreciate it even more if you'd reply and give me your feedback so I could make my reviews better!
