Pokemon - Mirage of Tales (beta 2.1) Box Description

Set in the region of Avlar, the player's story is a sad one. You are an orphaned young boy or girl and have had to pretty much bring yourself up over the years. Your rival is a bully who has picked on you for being poor all the way through Pokémon School. Finally, it's the day of your final exam, which will allow you to travel on adventures and finally become financially stable. Your teacher Avara (the hack's developer) sees the potential in you and you have always been top of the class, so she gives you a job with her straight after you pass your Exam. There's been a brand new Pokémon discovery and she wants you to look after this special new Pokémon and help her unfold its mystery! But as always, there will be obstacles in your path.

So off you'll go, into your new life with your new Career, which you get to choose for yourself! You're free to do exactly as you please and make a name and reputation for yourself. It's finally your time.

CAREERS:

The main feature of this hack is that you can choose your own career once you graduate from school. Each career will give you a different storyline and different sidequests - which all lead to the same fundamental events. So, depending on the Career you choose, you'll experience the game's story completely differently!

The following four are the "main" Careers, which will have the largest direct impact on storyline:
• The Trainer Career - The simplest way to play the game, without taking any extra Careers, you will be a Pokémon Trainer by default.
• The Research Career - Join Avlar's Research team and become a Pokémon Researcher!
• The Seeker Career
• The Crime Career

In the second half of the game, there will be a further two Side-Careers introduced that you can take, no matter what your main Career is. These side-careers are as follows:

• The Breeder Career - Introduced later in the game, the Breeder Career is very easy to get into. As an official member of the Pokemon Breeding Organisation, you'll have open access to the 'Day Care System', enabling you to breed your Pokemon for eggs. You can progress in the career by breeding certain kinds of Baby Pokemon until you become an Expert Breeder!

• The Gym Leader Career - Aspiring Gym Leaders can take up the 'Gym Leader Challenge' at any time as an optional side-quest. The Gym Leader Challenge in Avlar is ruled by the prestigious PokeMinistry, the same government behind the Avlar Championship Tournament. Any player who gains all eight References from the defending Gym Leaders is eligible to apply to become a Gym Leader themselves! The Gym Leader's job is basic to begin with - you will first take over Clifftop Town Gym, the first in the official order, and progress until you become the eighth and most powerful Gym Leader in the region!

FEATURES:

• Four separate storylines.
• Explore the new region of Avlar!
• Custom Trainer Sprites!
• Licenses replace Badges.
• The 'Reputation' System depends on References available to gain from main characters.
• SOME de-capitalization where necessary.
• Your own Personality Alignment!
• NO "evil team" stuff... It's been done to death. Some people are good, some people are evil! You can choose who you associate with.
• Item prices have been raised and trainers give you less money.
• As well as money and all that stuff, you can earn Fame by gaining References from high-status trainers who've battled you and doing other things...
• A barrage of new characters, including several challenging rivals!
• New Gym Leaders, however the Gym Leader Challenge is now optional. Leaders will give you their References if you win and battling them or not wont affect the storyline.
• Badges have been replaced by Licenses which allow you to do different things in the game.
• "Licences" for HM moves SURF, CUT and FLY are obtainable through buildings called Registry Offices scattered aroud the region.
• Pokemon that were previously only able to evolve through trading or through day/night now evolve in different ways.
• PLENTY of small sidequests to keep you busy.
• As well as Pokemon Centres and Marts, most towns now also have Community Centres!
• Pokemon-dependant events!
• Gender-dependant events! (these events differ VERY slightly)
• Item-dependant events!
• An unlockable career where you can run your own Gym! (not as exciting as it sounds, but already implemented so oh well)
• The Elite 4 has become the mighty 9-round Avlar Tournament, which you can only enter if you're a Master Trainer.
• 4th, 5th and 6th Generation Pokémon!
• And finally, ASM!

PERSONALITY ALIGNMENT:

This is yet another factor which will affect your game experience. There are three Personality Alignments which are determined based on your choices; Good, Bad and Neutral. Your Career choice will influence your Alignment slightly, but there will be a mix of typically 'Good' and 'Bad' assignments you can do for each career no matter what it is that will further influence your Alignment.

The game's characters are not just split into goodies and baddies. It's up to you to make your own decisions to see what your Alignment will turn out to be. Will you be a Criminal with a good heart, a tyrannical Seeker, a level-headed Researcher? The combinations of Careers and Alignments are extremely varied, and there is at LEAST one unique side-quest for each Career/Alignment pairing!

The Personality Alignments are Affected by Careers as follows:

• Trainer (default) Career - Neutral Alignment
• Seeker Career - Good Alignment
• Crime Career - Bad Alignment
• Researcher Career - Neutral Alignment

As you can see, the default career of Trainer is Neutral. If you choose not to join either the SFS or Gang, you'll be a Neutralist. For the SFS/Crime careers, you'll be given at least one mission or task which will enhance that career's Alignment, (A bad mission for the gang and a good mission for Seekers), but after that it will be completely mixed and you'll have to choose what to do.

KNOWN BUGS:
• I may have forgotten to erase some old scripts and Trainers, so please report them if you see any.

• No 4th/5th gen cries have been inserted yet.
• Some fishing and surfing sprite frames for the hero OWs may appear glitchy, as they are still being edited.

I want to play this game, but play.rom.online isn't offering any emulator options, so I can't play it. Can someone tell me why that is?

Tip for easy leveling, go to the tripoke challenge near "clearwater" pond. If you win the 3 battles you get 5 rare candies.

Chalk this game up with the rest of the hacks that haven't been finished/fixed. There are way to many hacks on here that had potential but the creator either slacked off or just gave up. Seriously people finished your hacks before you release them.

This is a fun hack but there aren't enough trainers and there isn't anywhere to grind. I am at the 4th and 5th gym areas and my team is still only in the lv20 range when they should be around the lv30-35 range.
