We all know Super Mario World as a fun and exciting game, right? Now imagine how it would be if the game is dark and scary. Mario Wakes Up begins with Mario having a nightmare. He then finds himself in his house, but it's very different from what he's used to... Now he's faced with having to dodge traps and find a way out of his once humble abode.

Much of the graphics of Super Mario World were kept, but the creator changed the colors, leaving black and red predominate. Some enemies were shaded to hinder the player from finding them. Some enemies have been brought from other games in the series. Additionally, the soundtrack was completely altered to give a greater climate of suspense to the hack. Mario Wakes Up brings a somewhat high difficulty. In some scenarios there are a lot of enemies, and traps like spikes. If you do not use Save States, you probably will find a good challenge ahead. As for the world map... Well, it's represented by a forest. The house of Mario appears as a "Ghost House". You can be sure that this hack will give you several minutes of exploration, fear and maybe a little frustration, if you are not accustomed to high challenges.
