Miniature Golf Featured Review

Miniature Golf Review by: Marcmoney - 7.5/10

Miniature Golf Review
Overall - 7.5

Miniature Golf on the Atari 2600 was probably a popular sports game back in the old days.  Playing it in this decade makes it boring for most people.  I, honestly, think that this game was not fun.  Even though it was something to do, it did not last that long of excitement.

Graphics - 7

The graphics look bad, but it seemed to give the game a shot since it changes colors every hole.  The effects are not to impressive, but it is a sports game and you would not expect any flashing displays.

Sound - 7

The sound is very quiet.  All you could hear is the sound effects and that is all.  I think if you beat a hole you hear a victory melody, but that is all there is to the music part.

Addictiveness - 3

I would probably not play this.  One, I am not so good at golf and two, the game is boring to me.

Story - N/A

There is no story in this game.  All you do is play golf.

Depth - 5

The game does not have a lot to offer.  The big thing about this game is probably the amount of levels it has.  I have no idea how many there are, so you will never know if there is a lot or just a dozen.  Other than this, the levels are made to be very interesting.  For some reason, there are objects moving around so it is not an ordinary game of golf.

Difficulty - 7

The game is hard for me.  Like I said, I am not good at golf.  Some of the levels are easy to play on and some are just very difficult.  Other than that, the game plays fairly good.

Wrap Things Up...

Miniature Golf is fun in real life, but not fun on this kind of console.  I would not recommend you trying this, but if you want to, I am not going to stop you.  Golf is a fun sport, but when it comes to playing it in old games, it can either be boring or difficult. :)

Miniature Golf Game Description

This is a computer game simulation of a Miniature Golf course. It attempts to refine your sense of timing and your perceptiveness in judging distance. As in a traditional miniature golf course, a variety of obstacles are placed in your path to the "cup." Depending on the game that is selected, the course can be played solo, or a two player competition can be initiated.

Rather than a full 18 holes, this Miniature Golf variation has a nine-hole half-course. Your goal is clear: taking the various obstacles into account, hit the ball through the course and complete each hole by knocking the ball into the cup. The number of attempts you make for a single hole is tallied as strokes. While total strokes are unlimited, each hole still has a specific par assigned to it. So ideally, you should make it your goal to not exceed the par assigned to each hole.

Using the standard joystick controller, you can position the club to adjust the strength and angle of how the ball is hit. Remember that no matter how many strokes have accrued, it is necessary to get the ball in the cup before the game continues on to the next hole.
