Adventure Box Description: Adventure is an Action game, developed and published by Atari, which was released in 1978.
Adventure Description: How did you get into this mess? Well every hero eventually has an adventure breathing down their neck sooner or later, in this case your quest is to find the "Enchanted Chalice" some low-life evil magician stole and return it to the Golden Castle once and for all (hopefully the guards won't sleep on the job again).
Well, no one said being an adventurer (much less a hero) was easy, especially with this Yellow Dragon (Yorgie was it?) eyeing you as if you were that roast chicken you swiped the other day. Yorgie (cute name for a dragon though, hey shouldn't you have been guarding the Enchanted Chalice?) claims there are two other dragons you'll have to deal with (supposing you don't end up as his side-dish), courtesy of the Evil Magician. The other two blokes are Grundle, the Green Dragon and Rhindle, the Red Dragon. Rhindle is renowned for being the fastest Dragon around (not like Yorgie the eight-wheeler cart here).
Might as well kill this sorry excuse for a dragon (the gypsy at the pawn shop says this sword I bought from her can kill dragons...or was it lizards?) and continue exploring these three castles everyone's been telling me about: The White Castle, Black Castle and ultimately the Golden Castle...someone also said something about keys to gain entrance. Oh well, time for some dragon-slaying!
A graphic dungeon quest inspired by the old mainframe game of the same name, Adventure is a graphic adventure where you use your joystick to wander around, collecting keys to explore castles, labyrinths and everything in between, whilst slaying anything that moves (ie. Dragons & Co.) to get treasures.
The game has 3 difficulty settings:
Level 1 (Easiest)
Level 2: The Kingdom is larger than Level 1, containing secret rooms and hidden items to add difficulty.
Level 3 (Hardest): Similar to Level 2 but all objects/items are placed randomly throughout the Kingdom.
Gameplay revolves around picking up (and dropping) items, hacking your way though dragons, finding keys to open the castle gates and using magic (ie. reincarnation) in case you get swallowed by failing-to-follow-their-diet-plan-dragons.

Adventure Cheats, Codes and Tips: View Credits
On game two or three, go to the maze in the Black Castle. One screen left of the first maze screen will flicker if you carry an object in there meaning one thing, there's ANOTHER object in there. At the bottom center of this room is a closed off cubicle, use the bridge to get in there and you should pick up a ''dot''. Carry this to the screen just above the catacombs (one screen down and to the right of the Gold Castle) and be careful not to lose it as it's the same color as the outside ground. Drop it there and bring two other items onto the screen, run right through the line on the right side of the screen and witness the first ever Easter Egg.
Walk Over the Title Screen
Start playing the game, then push Select on the Atari 2600 console in order to see the game selection screen. Press Down to make your character move over the screen.
Slow Down the Music
When you finish Adventure, press Select.

9.7 - Crawldragon
I have to give Adventure as much credit as is duly possible: there are those who thought it couldn't be done. That said, the game is confusing, nonsensical, and I have to say too freaking hard. On the flip side, it's incredibly innovative. It even invented the video game Easter egg as PoundDotBlam pointed out. Outside of the challenge of dodging bats and trying to kill the dragon who's puppyguarding your sword, I'd say looking for the Easter Egg is half the fun. Although I will complain because the bat is too overpowered and I can swear the yellow dragon knows the worst possible times for it to appear right next to me.

How is this game rated so low... this was one of the very first games with an Easter Egg. I would give it a 9 just for that... of course that is spoiled in the description of the game... but oh well.
