Zelda DX Link's Awakening Review
The Legend of Zelda- Link's Awakening is an unique game. The story follows a different path this go around offering a different fell to it. Not your normal routine of rescuing the princess instead. We find our hero trapped in a dream where he must collect the 8 magical instrument to awaken the Wind Fish who rules over the land in order for him to awaken from this dream. Our hero must face many treacherous landscape, face many enemies as well take on the difficulties of the dungeons's puzzle.
There are many noticeable enemies through this world. Some enemies you come across, you will find the Super Mario enemies such as goombas. It gives it a different feel. almost as if it was a cross breed of the two games, but solely on Link. During the course of the game. You will come across some very useful items during your quest that can help you cross gaps in certain areas such as the Roc's Feather and the Pegasus's Boots. You'll spend hours exploring this new world questing to find the magical instruments in order to climb the mountains to awake the sleeping Wind Fish with one final battle to awaken from the dream and return to the ocean to find the storm subside leaving Link floating on what's left of his raft.
Graphics-7
The graphics has a decent look even for a gameboy color genre. Not on the par of some of the best looking ones, but it can hold it's own giving you a nice scenery to look at. Though the color base is basically all one color in areas, but it's still clear to noticed what things are. The rivers are blue, but most everything are the same.
Sound-8
The sound is something everyone can recognize. The sound of classical tunes of the series. It plays very well for the handheld genre of the Zelda games. It's one of the greats in my opinion, but it eventually goes unnoticed after awhile when you are bury deep into the game itself, but still have some catchy tunes to listen too while you are exploring some areas and well fitted tunes in dungeons.
Addictiveness-6
You'll spend hours enjoying the quest on the search for the 8 magical instruments to awaken the Wind Fish as well exploring many of areas and dungeons gathering more heart containers and items to help further your progression in your main goal, but once everything is completed. You'll most likely will only go half way through the game on your second run and stop due to you would know everything already and lose interest in it.
Story-8
The story is different this time around. Instead of rescuing the damsel in distressed. Princess Zelda to be precise. You are trapped within a dream world on a island ruled by the Wind Fish and your goal is to find the 8 magical instruments to awaken the Wind Fish in order to free yourself from Link's dream. You'll meet many familiar enemies along your quest, meet new enemies as well as you fight your way to escape the dream and back into reality.
Depth-5
There are familiar items you can gain during your main quest as well as side quest, but there's not a whole lot that it can give you on such a small handheld, but not as much. It doesn't take long to find them all and finish the quest. Once you collected most of the items, you basically completed the game.
Difficulty-5
Though it does have it's frustration, but it's not an entirely difficult title. You gives you a fair amount of annoying bosses and enemies, but once you figured out their patterns. It's pretty much easily countered and finished off. You won't be complaining much nor satisfied if you are looking for a challenge, but it moderate in the difficulty section so you'll still enjoy the gameplay of the handheld.

Zelda DX - Link's Awakening Box Description: Link's latest challenge is set on the mysterious Koholint, a place where dreams and reality collide. As a castaway, Link must find a way to escape from the island and return to his beloved homeland of Hyrule. This will not be an easy task.
The island's inhabitants have no knowledge of the outside world. One creature, a talking owl, may know the solution to Link's dilemma. Link must first tackle eight dungeons full of treacherous monsters and tricky traps. His goal: find the eight instruments of the Sirens and awaken the omnipotent Wind Fish which rules the island.
Zelda DX - Link's Awakening Description: This game is a color-enhanced update to Link's Awakening. The game is also compatible with the original Game Boy.
This is virtually the same game as the original with a few exceptions. There are photo points around the game where Link can get his photo taken and then print it out on the Game Boy Printer.
Also when played on the Game Boy Color, there is a new secret color-themed dungeon.

Great game all round. Although, certain items have very long winded explaination EVERY TIME you pick them up. Also somewhat irritating that you have to die to save, which you should do fairly often on the online emulator because it could glitch and reset. Currently, the Vizzed AEPgb emu runs smoother than the JavaBoy emulator, but is still quite capable of glitching and freezing the game. Also, the Vizzed one won't save on the emulator. Emulators aside, 10/10.

I'm giving this a 10 out of 10 because this was the first ever Legend of Zelda game I played. I love the DX version because of the photographs and the Color Mini-Dungeon. I am currently putting together a complete video walkthrough for this game. I expect to be finished around February 2011.

9.5 - flamingfuzzy
This is one of the first video games that I actually played to completion. A great older game. The story is dry, the characters are extremely lame, but all in a way that somehow adds to the gameplay. It knows that it isn't a serious game, and doesn't try to be one. The biggest downside is that it gets a bit repetative, and walking across the map on a huntch is something I just stopped doing(took forever). This is definitely a must play game though. 9.5/10

If you like this game, play Oracle of Ages/Seasons next. The gameplay is very similar, so much you'd be surprised they're not direct sequels. The story is very different, though, so it's still challenging.
