Yu Yu Hakusho - Ghostfiles - Tournament Tactics Review earthwarrior
Intro:
Ahem. Where do I begin? This game is very fun all around. You'll mean fantastic friends, stubborn foes, and everything in between! I cannot possibly explain how great this game is in a single review. Play the game to get sucked into stunning graphics and a huge world.
Graphics:
The graphics were great for gba standards. You can look at other gba games and clearly see that they graphics are quality. In my opinion they are comparable to Pokémon Leaf Green/ Fire Red's graphics. Most other gba games are very choppy, lack detail, and in some cases slightly glitchy. This also has battle animations. For example if you use Yusuke's spirit Kick he will actually kick the enemy. If you use overdrive moves a picture will appear of that person using that move. In addition, if you use Yusuke's Signature move, the Spirit Gun, on overdrive it will show a picture of him using his Spirit Gun. Unquestionably these graphics can't be beat.
Sound 10/ 9:
The sound was amazing. I was amazed when I first played this and still am today whenever I hear it. It's so clear and actually made me hum to it. It even makes noises when the players attack! The battles the graphics and sound really works together. Right when the player attacks the sound starts. Lots of other games do this, but not as well as this. I also like the combinations of sounds. Most of the music is just a mixture of simple beeps. Hearing the opening themes is the best part of playing. I can tell I'm going to start having another great time. The only reason it didn't get a 10 was because some of the battle music wasn't very catchy.
Addictiveness 10/ 10:
This game was very addictive. I remember I used to play it every day when I was a kid. I loved all of the different features and characters. Games based off of tv shows or movies generally aren't good in my opinion. This one was far superior to most others. I can guarantee that you'll come back to play this sometime after you first played it. Talk about replay value. I played this game for about 100 hours in my primary save file. I hope other can enjoy this game that much.
Story 8/ 10:
You might not understand the story unless you watched the show. The main character is Yusuke Urameshi. The point of this game is to beat the Dark Tournament. What is the dark tournament you say? The dark tournament is a tournament created by rich humans and demons to watch teams of humans and demons fight each other. Whoever wins the tournament gets one with granted. Toguro helped some of the rich people by killing some of the tournament officials. Also if Toguro wins his team manager, Sakyo, would release a hole from the Human realm into the Demon Plane. Inside the demon plane are thousands upon thousands of demons. Not even Yusuke could stop them all. Yusuke has to go through many battles to get to the top and defeat Toguro. Never give up!
In the game they followed the story well. The beginning was when they did a lot of talking to familiarize you with the game. Then in the Hotel area you found most of your party members. Next in each of the other areas there was a tournament match as the last level. The tournament matches are more challenging than the regular matches and even more fun. A few of your party members are likely to die here. After the tournament matches you will get spinner spin and most of the time you will get a new party member. I found the story to be enjoyable. I also liked how they captured the party member's personalities.
Depth 9/ 10:
This game was pretty lengthy. Not as big as a Final Fantasy or Pokémon game, but fairly large. It had a lot of different concepts in it like items, leveling, and learning new moves. There are lots of different items. The main items are potions and rings. The potions increase your health and spirit energy. The rings inflct damage to enemies. Some rings give the enemies poison status and some rings steal spirit energy from the enemy. Leveling was like most other rpgs. After every battle each member who doesn't die gets a fixed amount of exp. If that member killed an enemy they get bonus exp. When you level up you get upgraded stats and upgrade points. You use these upgrade points to learn new moves and if you upgrade a certain stat you get other stats increased! There are six moves for each caracter. Be sure to learn them all.
Difficulty 7/ 10:
Meh. This game wasn't very difficult. If you prepare and don't value your team you will lose. If you are cautious and stick together it shouldn't be too hard. For example if you have team members on every corner of the map you can get surrounded and defeated. Also if a member of yours dies one round then you go play another round they will have half health. You can prepare by going to a simple and easy battle, like level 1 for example, then have the team member with half health play, and then win it. The team member will have full health and will be ready for your next battle. Also after you beat some levels you can spin a spinner. The spinner will have various items in it. The items range from simple potions to powerful rings. They are very helpful, but don't use them all at once. You don't have infinate spins for most levels. Since we have the ability to use save states it is a good idea to use save states by spinning, then if you don't get a good item load the file back up and try again. This is just another option to improve your team and destroy your enemies!
Overall 10/ 10:
Overall, this is an amazing game. As you can see this has everything you could think of in it. I can't wait to play again. I hope you enjoyed this and will start playing too! :D

Yu Yu Hakusho-Tournament Tactics Noobolicious
Before you play this game I strongly suggest you watch season 2 of Yu Yu Hakusho (watching season 1 as well but you won't miss much if you don't).
(on a side note I'll be rating this for those who have watched Yu Yu Hakusho if you haven't and you play this expect it to be not as interesting and a very choppy story)
Overall: 9,great game and a must for all the Yu Yu Hakusho lovers out there
Graphics: 9 great considering its a GBA reminds me of the "Eragon" game (only graphics, believe me, you wont start thinking the design team got drunk and partied the budget away) and the clips are TV quality and are from the anime
Sound: 4 I found it to be ok, but I would have preferred them to play the music from the anime, after about 30min you'll probably will want to turn it off
Addictiveness:9 I found it very addictive and enjoyable (maybe unusual, but I beat the game in 2 sitting of 5 hours each, man time really flies by ^^)
Story:10 by far the best thing in the game if you loved the season you'll get a great kick out of it and the overdrive clip(ex. Overdrive spirit shotgun for the masked fighter) mainly for the nostalgia it brings from the clips of "The best season of Yu Yu Hakusho"(season 2 of course ^^)
Depth: 8 after you beat the game, you can max your characters stats (tips on power leveling and other things at the end), beat the bonus area, pick up 2 more character if you didn't as soon as they were unlocked, get the best items, find the best team combination (mines Hiei,Yusuke Urameshi, Masked Fighter, Kurama, (Yukina,or Chu depending on circumstances), try to hit 5 stars on Yusuke, and finally (gasp) try to do to do the biggest amount of damage you can in 1hit (6k for me do to dragon summon^^)
Difficulty: 4 despite the anime having language, drinking, blood, gore, violence and sexual innuendos, the game itself is quite sterilized with the difficulty to match. It feels like the game is meant for people who are 6(no offense to those 6 year-olds reading this) after you maxed stats you need a little strategy (attack from behind, only focus on the target for pursuit, and take out the floodgates quickly, etc..) and common sense. If your losing, odds are your have no clue what your doing and your only using spirit sword (jeez Kuwabara get serious....=).
Thank you for reading my review hope you got something from it and don't forget to rate my review^^
"Random tips just because I feel like it" section:
1. As soon as you can replace the masked fighter first (seriously you'll lose fighter before you get to the serious bosses and wont get the fighter back until you beat Toguro then level him up as quickly as possible as the fighter is one of the best you can get) and Kuwabara second
(he just truly sucks and it really starts to stand out fast)
2.for quick leveling you'll need 1 Hiei with dragon summon and some really good movement, the go the the latest pursuit challenge u can(its the one with the demon you need to kill in the red track suit). You should be able the 1 shot the demon around 5 times in a minute with the speed button). Bingo really fast leveling
3. Always try to take out the goals first (track suit or floodgates,**WARNING** later on you may not be able to damage then so instead have a character stand on each of the red squares this will prevent demon spawns until the floodgates fade) then go for heavy damages first then tanks second. Also ALWAYS try to attack from behind as this will drastically increase the damage this (includes ranged moves such as the spirit gun but you must be in their row or column or it will just count as side damage) then try to attack from sides and at the front if you have no other option.
3.Having trouble? Remember to use you items these can either restore up to your max health, life energy, cure poisons, toxins, and do various damage moves for no spirit energy(ex. Shock ring, rock ring, and poison dart), it can also restore team health or energy(you can get these at the bonus area)
4.the bonus area is unlocked by beating Toguro and talking to the boat captain at that weird area after the ocean shore area.
5. Make sure to do all the unlocked areas as these unlock two additional characters (there both not great but you might as well).
Well that's all, now go and like Kuwabara, fight like a man.^^
