WWF Superstars 2 Review by: Spicy - 8.5/10
WWF Superstars 2- Simply funHey there, I'm back with another game review! If you did not know, Pro Wrestling was big in the 90's, I mean really big. So it was only fitting that they would make games based on it. And they did... there are so many pro wrestling games from the 90's it makes my head spin.
The game I'm reviewing today, Is called WWF Superstars 2. It was released in 1992 for the gameboy. It is a sequel to WWF Superstars, Which was also released for the gameboy. ( It was also a adaption of the arcade game of the same name )
I can't review that game.
Totally not because I always rage quit at the last opponent and never been able to beat it.So is this game any good? Let's find out!
Graphics: 8/10/ Very good, But not perfect
Let's start off with the graphics, Their actually very good! The wrestlers look fantastic. They all look like their real life counterparts. Unlike WWF king of the ring, Which was also released on the gameboy.
Now i'm a sucker for the late golden era's ( Golden era is a era in wrestling ) WWF Logo, I love it. And it is in this game, And it looks awesome. The logo is in the ring, It looks sweet in Black And White, And it's excactly like the real life logo. In the steel cage match it's not in the ring but outside the ring, In my opinion, It looks even better.
The ring it self looks very good, Which makes it easier and more fun to move around in.
When you bounce in to the ropes it looks really cool And adds a bit to the game. The steel cage also looks really cool!

I have experienced a few glitches:

I would say that Undertaker's sprite is my favourite, He has all his iconic trades.
Overall The graphics look really nice, Some glitches hold it back from being perfect tough.
Sound: 8/10/ Very Good, but not perfect
The entrance music of the wrestlers is part of the excitement. It gets you excited.
And this game nailed it! It has the best wrestling theme songs on the gameboy. Hulk Hogan's Iconic 'Real American' Song is in this game and sounds incredible! Sid's theme also sounds great. They really perfected the songs. It sounds so similar to the real life versions. That they were able to do this on the gameboy is pretty darn impressive.
The sound effects are... Well, OK. You don't have any sounds of the slam itself. The sound you get is the crowd. It's not great. But it's easy to forgive since it's the gameboy.
The sound of the bell is pretty good. Not a whole lot to say
Overall The sound is good, The music is great and the sound effects are OK.
Story: N/A/ No story
No story? No story, Nope no story. There is no story in this game. But you can make your own storylines, There is no such feature in this game, But you can use the game modes that exist and your IMAGINATION, It's more fun than you would think actually.
Addictiveness: 9/10/ Really addicting
Is this game addicting? For me it is really addicting. You would not think this, But I spend hours in this game. And that's really special, since every single character is the same. See this game is technicially not a great game, But when I play this game I just forget all faults and enjoy it. And if you are able to do that, It's addicting. I'm probably the only one that finds this game so addicting, But hey this is my review.
The controls are smooth, Grapples are intense, But you can also just repeat kicks but that kills a lot of addictiveness for me. This game is pretty difficult, And that adds to the addictiveness in my opinion.
Overall This game is very addicting, at least in my opinion. The controls are good, And you can argue that the gameplay gets repetitive, And in a way it's true. But I still find this game to be very addicting.
Depth: 7/10/ Good amount of things to do for a gameboy game
Now for the depth, this game is not long but also not short. And don't forget that this is a gameboy game, So there is a limit to what you can do. It is a MASSIVE upgrade from the previous game where the only thing you could do Is pick a character and beat the other opponents in a serie.
These are the modes in the game:
A 2 Player mode- I don't know the full extent of this mode since I have never played it. But I know that it would be a lot of fun!
1 VS 1 Match
Tag team match ( 2 VS 2 )
Belt Mode - The Main 1 player mode
That is a big improvement. You have 6 Wrestlers, But they play the same. These include:
Hulk Hogan
'Macho Man' Randy Savage
( My favourite ) Sid Justice
The Mountie
The Undertaker
Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
While the previous WWF Superstars only had 5 wrestlers.
And if you were wondering. In WWF Superstars 1 Every character also played the same.
Like I said big improvement. All of these modes are a lot of fun. And Belt mode is the most fun in my opinion. You choose your character and you fight your way against the other 5 wrestlers to eventually become the World Wrestling Federation champion! You can choose between cage matches and normal matches. Cage matches are a ton of fun. And that they added this is great!
Overall There are enough things to do to keep me entertained.
Difficulty: 7/10/ Pretty hard
This game is pretty hard. Enemies are tough, And at first it will feel like you will never be able to win a grapple of them. But after about 15 minutes you start to get the hang of it a bit.
For me the easy mode is really easy, The normal mode is less easy, but still easy, And the hard mode is where the fun is.
They can hit you out of nowhere and catch you off guard, ( If you play on hard ) Steel cage matches on hard are the hardest, You can also win steel cage matches via pin but you can also try to escape the cage. And that is really hard and fun
Overall this game is hard, But it makes it fun
Memories: 8/10/ A lot of memories
Huh!? A memories category!? Yes, that is something I do in my reviews.
And I have memories for this game. I had a DS and a flash card, And I found out that you could play gameboy games on your DS Via the Flash card. So I put this game on there. If it was not for this game I would not have been a sid fan.
OVERALL: 8.5/10
Overall this game is very good, It's hard and addicting, For me at least. i say check this game out, It's worth it even if it is only for a few minutes
Summons!
