Texas Chainsaw Review Atari 2600   billythekidmons..
WARNING: The following review is not meant to be taken all too seriously. The game is bad and I am making valid points but some of the things said are there just for comedic effect. You have been warned.
Well I decided since I played a luke warm game for the last review the only place to go from there is down. So that is what I have done. I mean far down too, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre bad. Wooh, here we go. I have to warn you I may just rant, just a little bit.
So you play as the villian from the movies. Leather face. As leather face you are on a rampage to kill everyone that you see. So you are running through what appears to be a happy forest and when ever you see a woman you kill them. This leads me to my first little rant. Why women? Not one time do you ever kill a man. They are always girls in skirts and a pony tail. What is up with that?
If I am correct there are men that die in the movie as well? Not only is there men killed but also there are never that many people that die in the movie. If you are good at this game you massacre hundreds and hundreds until one of the people that you are trying to kill kicks you in the butt after having you chainsaw run out of gas.
Speaking of the chainsaw, is that what that thing is? You have a blue thing sticking out of your body that seems to be rotating. I mean I know that they had limited graphics back then but this is not even really trying is it? Not only that but you get more or less attacked by: "skulls" "wheel chairs" and "fences" I put these all in quotes because I can not even tell if that is what they are supposed to be. Not just that but like I said before you are outside and trying to kill all these women. That is not really what happens in the movie either. Well at least not for the whole entire time. Why did they choose to make this game more or less a side scrolling shooter without guns? The only good sprite is the classic Atari back grounds with a house and some trees. Other than that the graphics leave a lot to be desired. A nice way to say that it looks like someone threw poop on a fan.
The game also sounds like the same thing. You go up and kill them after they "scream". If you can even call it that. It is just a loud beep that sounds just awful on the ears. The chainsaw sounds just as bad, it just makes a growling noise that is horrlible. The sound is really one of the worst parts of the game, and that is saying something.
Well since it is a required thing for the review I guess I must refer to the addictivness of the game. By that I mean that it is not at all addictive. If it were not for the fact that I was writing a review for it I would not have played with it for more than one life. I do have to say that it is not as bad as it could have been for being a "shooter". The game has solid controls too bad that it is not a good game to back it up.
The game is really shallow too. The gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. I would have liked it a lot better if there was more than a few just randomly generated levels of things that come flying at you. Once you have played the "game" once you have played it everytime. Really not a great game or a game at all. There is not much to say about the depth or gameplay. I think I have said it all. Also does not help that the game is easy too. Makes it pretty sad that you play the game at all. I went for around 20 rounds the first time I played the game and then the second time I played for 50. THe whole time I hoped that I would run out of gas, too bad you get more for every 5,000 points and you get 1,000 points per tourist. It is a game that if you are even slightly skilled you will never loose.
This is really one of the worst games I have played. There is nothing good here. I would never play it again and honestly I am sad that I chose to play it for review in the first place. This game is just, gross. Weather or not the developers tried is not certain but if they did, I am sorry that they sucked so bad. This game gets a 1 out of 10. There is no reason to play it. Except for maybe a few laughs. All in all this game raises more questions then it answers. For that I hate it.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre review for the Atari 2600   G@mehe@d
Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a movie made in 1974 and has gotten a game based on the movie nearly a decade later in 1983. The game is addicting but that does not compensate for all the problems of the game.
GRAPHICS: The graphics are mediocre. The chainsaw is apparently the killers arm X_X. The board looks nothing like Texas, and I know this because I've been to Texas. Plus the scenery is random. I have one good thing about the graphics and that is that when you run out of fuel 3 times. The game ends and you will see a chick kicking the killer in the butt LOL. What a good ending, I asked myself why that was there but it gives plenty of entertainment value.
SOUND: Like the graphics the sound is lame. When one of the victims scream it gives of an awful ear piercing beep, and when you kill a victim it gives off this strange sound.
ADDICTIVENESS: Everything about this game sucks. However it is very addicting and satisfying to kill the victims. The game's not very good for trying to get a high score because you will always get stuck in obstacles and the victims apparently move left and right at the speed of light making it hard for you to kill the enemy. This does not have to do with the addictiveness but I am just laying out the facts.
DEPTH: A lame board and only one game variation make this game low in variety. Its just the same thing the entire time.
DIFFICULTY: This game is very easy. The only two things hard about it are.
1: The victims can move left and right real quickly so it's only luck that you will actually kill a victim.
2: You might get stuck in obstacles quite often.

For the Atari26000...   naco26withcheese
OK I know you guys are thinking "who would rate this piece of crap game a 9?" well ill tell you who, me. The violence of this game was almost enough for the stores to hide it behind the counters. Well the moral of the game is to be leather face and kill girls with your chainsaw. Unfortunately for leather face, the girls can teleport but not very far. Also, if one pixel of leather face touches an object on the ground, he can't move. And you get 3 tanks of fuel to start with and you get a refill every 5000 points. However, when all of those fuel tanks are empty, the screen turns black like a Mortal Combat fatality, and a random girl kicks you in the @$$. Now I can take people getting slashed apart, put a kick in the butt, now that's f***ing hardcore, well the graphics were an early start for the Atari26000 and the addictive part of this game got me soaring and so here is the breakdown:
Graphics-4 pretty self explanatory.
Sound-6 yet another early start for the Atari26000
Addictiveness-10 the chainsaw blood gore massacre will never end!
Story-0 (none)
Depth-10 never ending chainsaw fun!
Difficulty-6 I wish I could teleport...

The Texas chainsaw Massacre   filmmaker7
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a game based of the 1974 horror movie by Tobe Hooper.it actually was only for adults!meaning kids couldn't by it!But,anyway, you play as the killer,Leatherface, armed with a chainsaw, and your main targets are a variety of Young girls.Every time you kill one,you get 1000 points. But watch out, because the chainsaw runs on gas,as show by the meter. To add some relation to the movie, you hear a loud BEEEEEEEEP every time a girl shows up,which is suppose to represent her screaming.
Your only enemies are wheelchairs, cowskulls, and rolls of wheat. The problem with these is that if you touch them, your stuck. But you can release yourself by chainsawing you way out.The only way you can die is when you run out of gas, then you get this little cut scene of one of the victim girls getting revenge by kicking you in the behind.the Controls Work like this.you press left, right,up,and down to go,well, left, right,up,and down. And you Press the spacebar to Activate you chainsaw. The graphics are pretty good for Atari 2600,but Leatherface looks nothing like he does in the movie. You can't even see his Arms, but maybe there attached to them or what ever.In conclusion, this is a fairly good game for any one who is into horror movies like myself.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre   ZacharyPiskura
Defiantly not the greatest Atari 2600 game to exist, but not the worst either. Basically you go for points, and you earn points by killing people. Graphics- not very good. The house and car in the back round look like kindergarteners drew it (No offense to the game designers). Leather face looks very comical and funny. The mutilation of people just basically turns the pixels upside down and red pixels pour from the top, or bottom in the upside down case. A common question is the high pitched BEEP when you approach a person, I think I have an explanation. Remember is Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 when the girl (I forgot her name) fell into the room of bones, and when Leather face came charging out of his room and there was music that played for about a second that sounded very much like that BEEP, tell me what you think. This game is not very difficult and there is not a bit of storyline. The only reason I played this game is because I really enjoyed the movie, and I saw it featured on an Angry Video Game Nerd episode. Play the game if you like, but I wouldn't spend too much time on the game.

THE MASSACRE OF THIS ANALYSIS   Hideki
This was one of the first violent video games made by Atari (like Halloween was starring Mike Meyers who was a decepsão, because this time you do not kill anybody you just run and catch babies, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre You are the murderer)
Well so is the story, you're the murderer, and you have to go after girls who scream PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII great, and you have your chainsaw to kill these b****es, you have a tank of gasoline, end if you die (this is the most ANNOYING GAME) a b**** comes and kicks your ass ............ one of the biggest killers of all times and killed, because he gets kicked in the ass, think Jason Freed Kruger, Mike Miyors. All dead because they took a kick in the ass.
But continuing to talk s*** this game, the character looks like a mentally retarded, those people who face''and''HUUU seems that the chainsaw seems part of his body, (a dick) and he as you walk to these girls You have to dodge bicycles, caderas tractors, and other things.
P.S: The game is a s*** to summarize.

The Unfortunate Chainsaw Massacre   BestGamer24
In 1974, a shockingly disturbing (for it's time) horror movie was released. Titled 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', it quickly gained controversy and became very popular. Many were amazed because of the film's graphic content, and that it was inspired by real events.
In 1983, almost 9 years after the release of the original film, VSS developed a game for the Atari 2600 based on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Published by Wizard Games, who also developed and published Halloween, the game is less than stellar, and is often considered on of the worst games of all time. It can be that bad right? Let's see how much of a massacre this game is.
Graphics, 4: Well, it looks bad.It looks like it was made on MS Paint. I understand it wasn't exactly easy to make backgrounds for games in the 80's, but it looks terrible. In the background that never scrolls, you see a house, some trees, and what looks to be a truck. It may be Leatherface's house. The house looks decent, and the truck looks good, considering how far away it is. The worst thing in the background are the trees.
The trees are just a few vertical orange bars, and the entire top of the screen is covered in green, representing the branches and leaves. The entire top of the screen is covered in green, which is very lazy.  It would have been better to break the green bars every once in a while to make it look more realistic.
There are a few objects placed on the ground in the game, which act as obstacles in Leatherface's path. They consist of wheelchairs. bison skulls (that what it looks like, at least), hay laying on the ground (which, apparently, slows you down) and a fence. All look decent, but the absolute worst are the sprites of the people.  First off, Leatherface looks horrible. His mask is just brown with a thin black stripe on top. He only wears blue with black boots, and his chainsaw sticks out of his chest. And worst, the chainsaw is blue, so it blends in with his suit.
When  Leatheface kills the girl, a wierd sprite of a mirrored girl appears. It's very weird.
The chainsaw in just a blue line with square block moving around it. Every once in a while, you'll see a girl. She looks just a bad and maybe even worse than Leatherface. She wears a dark yellow dress, similar in shade to the plain green ground,  She has a few pixels on top of her head for hair, and her arms are invisible. You can see through the dress where her arms are supposed to be. Could they not give her any arms?
The graphics looks very bad for the Atari 2600, but it's not the worst, so graphics get a 4.
Sound, 2: If there's anything worse than the graphics, it's the sound. This game has roughly 4 or 5 'sound effects' which sound more like beeps. The title screen has 1 second of sound, which is the best sound in the game. The game also plays a sound when Leatherfaces revs his chainsaw, which sounds decent. On of the most annoying sounds in the entire game is when ever the girl appears. A high-pitched beeo is played every time she shows up. From what I know, it's supposed to be screaming. When you kill her , a loud series of three beeps is heard, which each beep lowering in tone, but the sound only respawns you right back to where you started.
There's not music at all in this game (which Halloween had) and the sounds get annoying after a while.
Sound gets a 2.
Addictiveness, 1: It's VERY hard to play this game for any longer than 10 minutes. It's very repetitive and gets old quickly. At the top of the screen, there's a fuel meter, which shows how much fuel is left in your chainsaw. It runs down very fast, and only takes 30 seconds to run out. You goal is to kill as many people as you can before your chainsaw is out of fuel, and then, it's player 2's turn. However, it keeps track of player 1's score, so if player 2 scores, it'll add to the score, so all it does is show the total both players have scored.  To kill a person, you have to rev up your chainsaw right before you run into her, but it requires precise timing. If you kill someone, you get 1,000 points. The most points I got before the chainsaw ran out of fuel was 4,000.
It gets old very fast, and it's boring, so addictiveness gets a 1.
Story, 5: Similar to Halloween, the game doesn't have a story, but I assume it's the same as the movie. The story goes like this; 'When Sally hears that her grandfather's grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin, set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family's old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface, who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape". Story gets a 5, since the game has no story, but it follows the movie.
Depth, 2: This game only has one game mode. the two-player game and that it. There's nothing else to do in this game besides that. Since there's almost nothing to do in this game, depth gets a 2.
Difficulty, 1: From what I know, there is no what to lose in this game. If your chainsaw runs out of fuel, you just start over. This game is way too easy, and if you play long enough, you can get a lot of points. It's probably like old arcade games, where you goal  is just to get the most points. Difficulty gets an easy 1.
OVERALL, 2: Well, that was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It was certainly one of the worst games that I have ever played.
It's unfortunate that the best thing in this game is the graphics. It could have been much better than it actually was. I'm not going to tell you to not play this game, but if you ever see it, just avoid it. There are many other games that are better than this. Overall, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre gets a less than mediocre 2/10. At least we know it could have been worse.
Thanks for reading, and until next review, bye!
